Real Skunk Wanted

I wonder now how many people out there are:
a) Actually trying to re-create a Real Skunk vs people who are just searching in Dutch hybrids for a remnant late 70's Skunk?
b) If any of you are attempting to create something from scratch using mostly landraces please jump right in here and let's talk the talk.
It would be nice to know that others will try this as well.
I kind of do this or try its some thing I've All ways believed in , sourcing similar land races is hard but over all not un obtainable , I gather what I believe to be raw genetics old strains and land races , I try an compile true smells like lemon , afghani so on but I tend to cross them to early skunks or modern hybrids , it would be very hard I think to remake true skunk from scratch , but you never know the best thing to do is get the said land races and cross them to te oldest skunk known and look for recessive traits that have been lost in the skunk and hope one of the three land races does the job . But mainly crossing old skunks makes skunks just not the shit in the shops now ,
My pal crossed a columbian preserved land race similar to ace seeds one with uk cheese (sk1) the cheese brought out amazing missin traits in the columbian , the cross was all land race columbian massive vigour massive complexed columbian flavours we hadn't had since we were younger and had forgot how amazing those flavours are ,
So for sure the cheese as this type of sativa in it , there were phenos that were cheese leading slightly if you get me . This also happened when bodhi crossed my pinequeen to manali , the land race Shimla mixed with uk pineapple (pinequeen) increased the natural land race traits of the manali , these kind of crosses are easly the most top shelf stuff I've ever seen so unique they are like super over exaggerated versions of the land races .
It's hard to focus on just sk1 when sk1 makes the most amazing crosses if crossed to the right lines ,

A while ago I got 25 afghani seeds from ohsogreen. Ohsogreen got these himself in 1977/78 on his travels. I have recently flowered out 6 got 4 females and two males, so did a little f2 open pollination project to store for future use. I found the pheno quite unique and large yielding with great terp profiles. I also stored some pollen and plan to touch up the old exo cheese cut I have to add more vigour and strengthen her stems. Very exited about the outcome for sure

Extremely few of us have the space for the counts involved to pull it off.
Im in the same boat as GB - at least the same river. Collecting landraces worked to varying degrees to cross into old cuts and more modern hybrids. All to bring out those recessive traits.
Do I think I can chuck my way to a rks line? Nope. Ill be overjoyed if I can just find a single girl with most of the right traits.
I think crossing a hybrid to a landrace that's a constituent of that hybrid can lead to very good things.

Moving on...enjoying the progressions. It's not possible to recreate something from a long ago era. No matter what....the genetics are not the same...or really....available. Try as you may....dream as you may...won't make it happen.
And...if it did happen....it wouldn't be enough. People long for what they can't have. That's the reality.

^ Flushing...SZSK f2 (Skunk #1 X Chem DD).....the two "typical" expressions you find in Skunk #1...you also find here. The squat expression is more funky smelling...undertone of the sweet smelling Skunk but with a fouler funk now developing (this picture is a few days old...she was on day 49)...partially pollinated for the f3. I have a couple more plants very similar to her. Maybe some DD influences...that foulness thing. Not really a broad leaf indica...but so short in stature..full in the flower...one must consider the Afghani genetics. I know I found a squat expression in Skunk #1...for sure did.
the taller expression..is very much...a Skunk #1...more a sativa expression. She is around 60 days. Not pollinated...as I pollinated an expression that was a replica expression but a better grower. Smells like Skunk #1...sweet. No Chem DD seen in her...basic girl. I see this expression in those old pictures Madjag shows in his thread.
Fucky Fuck....when I feel like going old skool...I work on this cross. Every few years I bust out a run and make more beans.

I decided yesterday that my next grow will be working on getting
the Indica plants that I need to make my stinky plant. I'll work on
the Sativa side of it afterwards.
In time, I'll make the crosses that I've already planned for them.
Then the eons of selections work will begin.
