Rantings and Ravings

I have bottled Cal/Mag. I'll try adding as a supplement. I doubt that it will green up this crop but it may prevent the lightening (bleaching) on the new clones. I'll also do a runoff test on the next watering to see what the runoff ph is. I've been chasing this issue for a long time without resolution. Yields are good (over 500g last crop). The buds are tasty and firm. By harvest, the fans are all yellow... Maybe the runoff test will indicate an anomaly.

That sounds like a plan. :good:
Hope the splash of cal/mag will do the trick, doesn't need much. :)
I may have thrown in too many ideas but it's always good to check and work from there.
Happy growing! ☮️

I've given the flowering plants a good inspection and it's really just the WIFIs that are yellowing. The Iced Skunk seem healthier and nicer green.

I don't usually water to runoff but I'll do the purpling WIFI this afternoon and measure the ph and EC. For now, just the one plant, it should tell me what's happening in the other pots. I'll do the same with one of the Iced Skunk for comparison. I'm also going to plug in my Killawatt tester to the fixtures and balance the power consumptiion. I have a 480w and a 240w overhead fixture. I want to be careful about major changes until I can identify the issue. The crop still looks decent amd I expect 500g + so I don't want to make any silly mistakes.

Thanks for the interest aCBD, it's very useful having a sounding board.

Ok, I have the runoff values. First is this WIFI
20241221_151432.jpg

Her runoff had a ph of 6.6 and an EC of 1175ppm.

This second plant, an Iced Skunk
20241221_152843.jpg

had a runoff ph of 6.4 and an EC of 1100ppm.

I've been watering at approx. 6.15 ph and the runoff is 6.6 so I should lower my watering ph level? If I lower the feed water to 5.8ph it should eventually drop the runoff to about 6.25. I'm afraid to take a harder swing than that. The fact that the Iced Skunk runoff ph is lower than the WIFI correlates to the nicer looking leafs on the Iced Skunk. It also begs the question as to why the WIFI ph is higher than the Iced Skunk ph. This is my new plan going forward unless someone has a better idea.

The lights are more or less balanced now with the 480 drawing 370 watts and the 240 drawing 180 watts. So, 550 watts aprox. 28 inches above the canopy.

Of course, I should have done this testing and adjusting months (or years) ago but I've been busy partaking in the bud consumption, lol. Anyway, I'm being proactive now and I hope I can dial it all in going forward. I doubt that the yellow leafs will green up but it should stop or slow down the yellowing process.

Is it just the lighting or does the Wifi look different after that feeding, compared to yesterday. :dunno:
Your ph is fine, i wouldn't adjust anything there since it's soil.
I don't measure EC because organics but the numbers are high. No need to be concerned tho.
As you say the results are there.
Would like to hear another opinion and i hate to even write it down..but I'd try calmag on one plant.
Do you know what nutrients are in your tap water? Maybe you find a data sheet online from your supplier. This way you know what's really inside. :)
I moved from a village in a mountainous area with great water to a more flat area, urban.. and i have to supplement more. 😭

Yes, the last 2 pics were taken outside the grow room under household task lighting. The grow lights tend to give everything a yellowish tinge but the plants should be a darker green than they are. I fed the back row this morning at ph 5.9, so .25 lower than usual. I'll try this for a couple of waterings and monitor the plants health. I'm also going to feed the new clones at this ph and see how they do. I also added a little Cal/Mag (3ml/gal). These are small changes and shouldn't cause too much grief if the plants object.

Here's the back row just before watering.
