#5 CC not doing very well from the getgo - i repoted her in the LC mix

If something is lagging behind that badly...it may be time to let the hammer fall. I got back from Florida to check in on the gals....I'm sorely disappointed with the way that Papaya and Da Purps are developing. My Da Purps looks exactly like Zombo predicted. Of the two Papaya phenotypes, only 1 looks like it has any merit...and not too much at that.

On the OTHER hand, I'm totally blown away by the development on my small Ed Rosenthal Super Bud. It looks EXACTLY like it was pictured in the BBB V3. I had read somewhere that the pictures used on the Sensi Seed website and in the BBB were pictures of some old strain Sensi used to produce (I think Hawaiian something or other...). Well, if that's the case I'm happy to have it. The smell is becoming overpoweringly sweet...and she's filling out nicely....it's the killer score after all the beans I've been cracking. Check out my thread for a few recent pictures.

I think I'm going to chop the Papayas....at the MOST I'm finishing flowering what I've got....but they're getting the boot. Da Purps is going to be lopped down too.....make room for the better strains. I've got Ice Cream and Opium ready to flower so we'll see how those turn out eventually.

Try to find the MOST JUICY/BOUNTIFUL/TASTY CC...and keep those as moms. I wouldn't feel badly if 1 were a runt and needed to get the southern tip of Italy. You've got the system on lockdown now with the EZ Cloner.....you've got roots...and you're in good shape. I'd focus on that and finding something else special you want to keep in the vaults.

accessndx ~ if i had a clone rooted and vegged to take its place, i would have chopped it long ago :yeahthats
but i'll just leave her for now, besides what if she turns out to be the magical pheno ?
the three cuts i took from her did not survive :badday: perhaps if she responds well to the repotting, i'll have a regeg experiament in a few months :muahaha:

bummer on the Papaya and Da Purps :fsu: always a gamble when popping seeds :bashhead:
at least the ERSB is meeting expectations though

i have some moms on the way ?? someday soon, i have not gotten word they were shipped yet

:respect: brother :friends:

vintner ~ well i have a powerhouse mom and a CC now, sorry it does read a bit confusing
i am keeping cuts of all the CC so i can choose which one/two i want to keep for mothers

but untill i find what i want, i'll practice on them and get my clone rate up
gotta fill that whole cab :bashhead: i still have a 600w i only used for a week when the BPP were inside, i wanna fire her up A.S.A.P. :smoweed:

clorox

Smokin on that serious...
a slow cc is a cc none the less! im not a fan of killing the innocent (unless there known males , but that wouldnt make them innocent :spank: )

im sure youll get the mum your lookin for this time!

god i love that fucking strain!!!

R

Raistlin Majere

 hi clorox
yeah i had a runt out of the last batch as well
although she was a runt in good health too :bashhead:
i got almost a oz off of her, granted the other 3 gave me 3oz each (averaged out)

the runt was the only one i would have not kept last time, and i did not get to taste the one tall pheno
i put them outside and they died :violin: however it looks like my 2 taller girls are hopefully gonna be the same

we shall se :muahaha:

Yeah...I'm totally in love with the ERSB gal I found. If she smokes anything like she smells and looks she's locked in forever. You may even want a clone of this chick. I'm dropping some new closeups at F.U.C.K.E.M....check 'em out. As far as the bean cracking is concerned; I was warned by both Zombo and you about those strains. Zombo had some stretchy ass pictures that looked like wheat stalks. He said Da Purps blew...but I had to verify for myself. You told me that Papaya wasn't all that....but Nirvana has a good rep., and it looked delicious in the BBB....oh well. I'm sure there's a good phenotype out there somewhere, maybe in my remaining beans...but why should I hunt for a phenotype when there are so many strains that have little phenotypic variability and are killer? The answer is simple: I'm not.
As far as finding that "special" something: if it's difficult to cultivate and taking forever to get a move on....it's hard to justify keeping it around. Something can be a deadly ass strain and have all the qualities you're looking for, but if it's difficult to clone or keep alive in comparison to others of the same strain....IMO it may be better to find another that's no so difficult to work with. That's just me though. Of the ERSB beans I cracked...the others were male, and this gal was a bit stunted and did take a bit of time to grow vegatively. I would have considered launching her just on that basis.
I'm glad I didn't so I understand your hesitation. She didn't have difficulty laying down roots however, and that is a big issue for me. If she were a runt and wouldn't put down legs...that's the sign it's time to move on. There's just better genetics to fool around with.
In either case, I'm absolutely 100% certain you're going to find a gal or two that you want to hang onto for all time from those beans.

Ah: I get it now. BTW, I forget, did you take any clones of the BPP?

Y

YwouldntI

hey raist wattup brotha.the flower room looks fat yo.and im sure the roots will take for you bro.the c # 4 has some nice as structure bro...about the youngins, are they turnin yellow in the cloner or after you take them out?
you know i aint no pro by any means but if they are.... when mine was turnin yellow in the cloner yo,i started mistin them throughout the day a couple times with a spray bottle.the first like 5 days with a superthrive mixture, like 4 drops in a 32 oz.spray bottle.then for the next 5 days with some clonex(not the rootin gel yo) 1/4 tsp in the same size spray bottle.by then theyre rotted and ready for some cups, sometimes it'll take like 12-14 days but i like some long ass legs before i take them out of the
E-Z.anyways i dont get barely any yellowing unless i leave them in there too long.
i hope that helped ya somehow...peace -Y-

accessndx ~ i am almost certian i will find a girl i'll like out of the five

vintner ~ yes i did, but thinking about how big they got, i decided to replace them with CC cuts
i seen some nice cuts floating around though

YwouldntI ~ well i have not been keeping track of how many days it takes the cuts to root
but yeah they turn a bit yellow, i'll have to snap a pic of the ones i still have in the EZ
what has been happening is the stem under the Neoprene is going soft and rotting ???
gonna take her apart and do a good cleaning here in a day or two, temps are fine - even a bit on the colder side

i dunno :joint: gimme an idea or three guys :chin:

------------here is a friend, these guys leave their shells by the tree my hamock is under
usually 75-150 kinda hard to count them, my daughter pulls them all off and crushes them into dust
tries to eat them still too :muahaha:

That might be the most f-ing trippy bug I've seen!

Hmmmmm.....roots rotting under the neoprene. You haven't had the cloner that long to even consider it being "really" dirty. I had a friend running one for a half a year before he cleaned his. Consequently his motor burned out....not sure if it contributed to the failure. I clean mine after each cycle of clones by adding a cup of bleach and really hot water. I run the thing for about 15-30 minutes, dump out the water...fill it back up again with clean cold water....run it again for 15-30. If I'm ambitious...I'd do that again with another bout of clean water to ensure there's no more bleach. Then I'll let it air dry for a few hours or overnight.
If you're experiencing yellowing I would add a very dilute "vegative" growth solution to the EZ Cloner reservoir....(like if you need 1 tsp./gallon of water.....I'd make it like 1/4 tsp. in 1 gallon and add only 1/4 of the solution to the reservoir). Conversely you can also "foliar feed" by using the same strength solution liberally sprayed on top of the cloner. Sometimes I'll spray the roots directly by lifting them up and hosing them.
The other thing I would do is invest in a bit of Olivia's cloning gel or Clonex to dip the cuttings in. If you're running low on funds, I'll put it in a care package whenever I get around to copying those DVDs for ya. It's not absolutely necessary, but it may inhibit molds, bacteria, fungus, viruses, etc.
Honestly: I have some cuts that never develop roots.....for reasons unknown. The vast majority of them do in fact root and do well (85%+). If you see that some stuff is rotting however, take it out immediately and toss it. There's no probability that it will develop into a healthy gal/cutting. The other thing I would say is that you should have that cloner filled completely (if possible) with cuttings each time. I never leave empty spaces unless something was removed (ie-rotting, dead or taken for vegative/mom). I would suggest increasing the amount of cuttings so that you always have some good nice freshies. Some things are going to tank disregardless of the care you take. Quantity goes the distance under those circumstances. The quality will emerge as a result. Plus you'll ALWAYS need new moms. You'll find that the best use of your OLD moms will be next year for outside. They'll have an excellent root system developed.....and they'll love being in the great outdoors near those trippy ass bugs!

- it looks/smells/feels clean to me
- i have powder, rootone, will that work ?
-i may try a very dilute "vegative" growth solution soon, the plants were clearly lacking when theses cuts were made
perhaps that is playing a negative roll
-i am flowering the seed plants already, and am waiting on cuts from a friend to fill the empty spots
i would love to see it full :rasta: damn straight
- i'll keep the outdoor thing in mind for mothers
-i got a sleaping baby in arm :pointlaug
i type like this with left hand use only :muahaha:

The powder/rootone SHOULD work...however I feel that the gels are better because they adhere to the root tips and stick on for awhile. Actually I was eluding to the fact in my earlier post that the use of any rooting compounds is superflous.....the high pressure water jets pretty much wash everything off. I've been using it more as a "superstition" than anything. However it couldn't hurt.

Looking/smelling/feeling clean could be misleading....it's bacteria and viruses and microscopic organisms that can kill your plants. Whereas dirty water would inevitably contain this, seemingly clean water may still have contaminants that aren't visible.

If the plants that the cuttings were taken from weren't in great/good condition, you can expect that the cuttings will be challenged. I always try to foliar feed with a wide spectrum fert. about 2 weeks before I take cuttings. The last week I lay off adding anything with a heavy dose of nitrogen. Too much nitrogen inhibits root development for cuttings. But I would always be willing to hit a gal with calcium/magnesium and other micronutrients up until the time I cut.

As far as filling up the EZ Cloner....you're well on your way to doing that. Imagine a month or two from now when you've positively identified the gals you want to keep....
You'll grow up some huge ass moms...and take multiple cuttings....voila! The cycle will be perpetual. I think we need to put our heads together and make an Ed Rosenthal Super Chocolate Chunk......

Can't wait till I get such a place myself Bro. :canabis:
You're absolutely right! My wife didn't appreciate them, but personally, I loved the trippy bug pix. That's far out! :rasta:
Dude. You have a lot to be proud of. For starters, you're not shoving money in someone elses pocket!!! You got the balls to grow out doors. My first pot growing guru used to tell me all the time, "It's a weed yo. Don't mind fuck it. Let it grow."
It's a learning curve yo. Just wait and I'll prove it LOL. I'm about 3 weeks along now. Will post pix when there's something to look at. My Bro calls me Hitler and my plant "the little Jewish prices" cause her projected date of exicution is Yom Kippur. He's kinda sick that way LOL.
Never stop learning Bro. Stay safe, and :smoweed: :rasta:

if the stems are mushing out, it might be due to temps.
its why i had to shut my cloner down for the rest of the summer.
it was like bath water :(

That's my point Bro. You just started growing indoors last year right? It's a whole new thing for you. But, my gurus advice still stands. You're learning well, and fast! Don't mind fuck it, ENJOY IT! Just like you enjoy taking and sharing some pretty awesome non-mj related pix. I know you haven't, but if you were to ask me, I'd tell you, "You're new to indoor growing. Don't try to learn it all @ once." I realize you got bills to pay, but slow down a bit. Don't heap so much on your plate (read "in your flower room"). Start w/something you like. Tweek it till you get it right. TAKE GOOD NOTES along the way. (A lesson I learned the hard way in my wine making.) Then expand. A lack of patience only brings on frustration, negativity, and eventually abandonment of an endeavour which originally peaked your intrest enough to invest a considerable amount of time and money in it. Bro, be proud of what you've learned and accomplished, and the relationships you've made along the way! :rasta:
