Nice thread, indeed alcohol is the fight of my life! I drink for over 2 decades, but that crap take my health away. Now, it's one day at the time!

I quit over 13 years ago. The biggest factor is dropping all of your old friends, and finding new ones.

Then, return to the old friends one day, after your life has changed. I shut my phone off and left it in a drawer for 6 months. No calls. Emergency only.

I've had drinks since then. But I could count them on my fingers.

It's mostly cool to not drink. But I've had a drink at a girlfriends 21st birthday party several years back.

Drank out of anger once, a year after a death, but that was never my problem anyway.

If you've got an addiction, it's all another story. One is enough to set you over the edge. Alcohol just doesn't to that to me.

If I use my addictive substance once, it's off to the races, see you in a few. n Nobody's home.

I was at a wedding recently .When my father ordered a round of Guinness for the men I did not drink.
When champagne was poured for the toast,I did not drink. When the party and dancing started I did not drink.
I never let social situation, life,Tragedy, problems, or self deserve become a factor in my decisions in life.Fuck that.

But I did reminisce with the men and I did raised my glass and danced my ass off.

Its all good

...not only good, but better, all across the board...at least for me. I no longer regret the past or wish to shut the door on it. I'm beginning to understand the concepts contentment and peace. I have financial security. I'm able to handle what life throws my way instinctively when in the past, the fog of alcohol, made even simple life choices a dicier thing.

To all those struggling...it gets easier and oh, so much better.

Hello all. I just wanted to say Happy Mothers Day to all the moms out there. Also to all the gentlemen that were able to stay sober. I know my sobriety is more than anything I could ever buy my mother!! A healthy son or daughter is all they really want. Congratulations give yourself some reedit and most of all give thanks!

Vitamin B is big after drinking and general good food is important to recover physically, but we also need and most important is the inside and needs proper nutes too. Real friends are very hard to find and better none than gettin' stabbed in the back I say. So lets go back to the 70's. Don't want to forget the past lest we do the same dumb shit again. Always an addict per say so where to funnel our energy. Maybe a drum solo on your desk or whatever. Have to stay positive and can be a challenge in such a negative world. Some great tunes from the outside or inner is a sure way to relax and meditate on what is good so to literally unprogram/ reprogram your mind with good things and get off those old cow paths. Some Glass Harp 1970 and 2006 and some Phil Keaggy, who Jimmy Hendrix said was one the best guitarists of all time. Having a hard day and thinkin' could use some liftin' then sit back and listen to some great tunes. I like all genres of music and this only a very small part of musics infinite limitless potential. Have a great week. Peace... SR

I'm happy to see this thread here on this forum.
I just wanted to say to those out there who want to quit but can't imagine how to actually do so-
It is possible. It starts with the will to do it. You make the decision and then you act accordingly depending on your situation. There are ways! It gets easier. Your neurochemistry resets. You can look back on it with disgust or fond memories or nothing. Detachment. I can elaborate if ever needed just shoot me a pm.
Peace

P.s. we don't need a carcinogenic neurotoxin
