Question regarding electricity consumption.

Had a storefront building lease that wasn't actually a store for 3 years and never had any visits from anyone. This was in the center of a downtown city. Huge window in front, always had the blinds shut. No business sign, no license of any kind. Door always locked. Camera out front so I could see people knock and walk away, which happened several times a day. Usually, or maybe always door to door salesmen.

Had 30-50 servers inside and AC, and diesel generator sitting out back that would be tested monthly. Standing at the generator I could see the police, at the police station milling around down the alley. Electric bill always varied between 1000 & 1500 a month.

I had one visitor in 3 years and it was a guy who wanted to put a candy machine inside. Right as I was moving in. I let him, and then he spent the next 2 years trying catch me to get me to let him to get his unprofitable machine back.

Bottom line, all this stuff about letting inspectors in and having licenses didn't apply in my case. Your experience may vary.

I had a small ag business in Maine. I had a normal monthly bill slightly below $1000 a month. In the 6 years I grew I never had anyone come down and check out my shit. Maybe a propane generator would be something to look at. The exhaust could be used for co2. Most greenhouses burn propane for the added co2. You could do sound abatement for the gennie and farms always use lots of diesel. This is assuming a certain amount of privacy. You said it was already and ag building with a history of high usage. I think your strategy of one plant/one light/one pound is the ticket in Maine, where plant numbers is key. A well vegged dialed in strain should rock. A few rows of 100 gallon smart pots each with a light would be fun to see. Good luck.

Both of you are right on!

As long as you register a business where no inspections are required because you have no employees, no public traffic basically no nothing where you can put anyone or anything in danger you are golden.

A kiln operation with students translates in to fire danger (fire inspections) and public traffic (safety inspections) and a few more things.

But darby crash already knows it all so just listen to him and you will be safe! ;)

If you're going to draw large amounts of power, try cycling 10% - 20% of the ballasts off and on. Having 36 lights on continusly when you can shut several lights off at a time. When the lights first come on, use only half the lights, then an hour later, a few more lights come on. When there is a few hours left before the lights go out, cycle off a few lights at a time. This is better than having 36 lights all come on and go off and the same time.

I have had legit warehouse business with licenses and had yearly inspections.

I had a warehouse grow op and we never had inspections. But we did not have a real business front or license.

Getting around inspections is easy, just do not apply for any licenses.

But the bottom line is you can plan and try to calculate as much as you want, but there may be some odd thing that pops up and bites you in the ass big time.

Wow 36kw? Thats alot of electricty.. and at a 12/12 schedule it may look just a little funky if you're on a smart meter :p
Assuming you are not on a smart meter (hope not!)
:D

What is a smart meter? A friend of mine told me the recentaly had one put on their home by the electric company. I thought they put them on all homes?

they dont need smart meters.
most areas have measuring units that compare draw vs. billing and catches thiefs.

the elec co makes so much juice they dont need to know your dryer is turning on so they can make more juice.

How do people get away with stealing huge amounts like in Canada? I know there has to be some power lose in a certain amount of distant and coverting higher voltage to lower. Not all elec co. make enough juice, some have to import alot, thats why alot of america is on a grid system so they can transfer power where its needed.

Getting any kind of license should be avoided. It will cause problems and cost money. If you don't get a license, no one knows you exist. If you do get one, state minions will be writing and visiting, and demanding all kinds of shit, including fines for not complying with shit you never heard of. Don't believe me? Go down to city hall and plunk down $50 for a business license. The state will instantly become the biggest pain in the ass you've ever seen. :)

Well I have read all of this so far and would just like to tell you what I am doing intown lol. I am not running a grow op but am running a business (Organic Fertilizer Specialist= worm farmer) in a rented warehouse space. I have a business license. I have lights on 24/7 (to keep worms in buckets). I have never had anyone from town or county in to inspect or even look at my place. I produce 1 ton of worm castings every week and that takes some machinery to pull off. Electric bill is about 150 to 300 per month depending on the outside temps. Worms need to stay at 70 to 90 degrees F in winter and summer. I have had Retail sales license and no one ever checked to see what I am doing lol. Just thought you should you would like to know. If it helps or not is yet to be known. Take care and be safe

I've seen it work with very little loss in production. Not really interested in someone else's claims when I've seen myself that it works.

No no my friend you got that wrong.

YOU are the one making claims, in the post I mentioned that guy is actually proving it.

So until you've proven what you claim...it's just another claim out of many and nothing else.

He hasn't proven shit. Chances are his "dismal" results were a result of several other factors, his nutrients, high temps, high PH, spidermites, powdery mildew, etc or he had shitty strains.
