i forgot - a few of the tinyest plants are a bit affected by root rot - the ones i saw ugly i cut down allready - i never had root rot happen before.. i wonder if i brought in some massive pathogenes with the recycled coco from the green house the fact i have been showing more care than ever with the trichoderma etc to make sure there would be no problems - so im a bit perplexed. i think im going to buy more trichoderma today - seriously - even if its only a few weeks left i dont want to risk anything. some plants are allready getting flushed so i hope they will be ok untill the end.
i dont think i can risk using recycled coco again unless i find some really good product or method for desinfecting the coco.
its a bit sad - but since no big plants are affected yet - im keeping my breath and hoping for the best
the tiny LDS i had to cut WERE very very SIMILAR in flavour to our SSH x PTK. confusing !! but a pleasant surprise! hehe i bet the BIG keeper is going to be of awesome potency!!
bought lots of trichoderma the other day. also got the new dehumidisers working excellently - they pull out about 10 liters or more of water from the air every 24 hours. its amazing to see there is that damn much water in the air here hehehe
i watered today all plants with trichoderma - i hope it will potect them a bit extra this late in flowering - well a few of the plants have a lot of time left to go. the unseeded mozambique smells leathery in difference to the seeded that smells nicelly of fruit. the unseeded one still got about 3-4 weeks left and the sativa monster from raco (wich seems to be a cross of corinto and something) has a lot more left to go than that - but also it seems to be a good yeilder so its going to be interesting to see
Sorry to hear about the root rot, BC! Yeah, one of the main reasons not to reuse media..... all those little pieces of dead root mixed in......no big deal..... we're growing annual plants!
im sure using enzymic products in the right moment would propably have gotten rid of the roots - but i was in a hurry.
still - its only a few out of very many - so im suspecting the reason could more likelly have been because of allready existent root damage before the last transplant. because the other plants are looking great.
oh oh what's this? oh shit i really hope it's not because of reusing the coco. would be strange as it's never happened to me, even on the 4th run my roots are tip top as ever. maybe you should look into the product called hygrozym. it has all the advantages of a zym product with an added plus of very visible root stimulation. unlimited shelf life. are you using any enzyme product?
hehe - its no problem the fact the tiny clones i cut were just a week or two from harvest and really small - it was rather a wellcome early test round hehe
as i said earlier i think it is because of earlier root damage more than the old coco in it self - im using atazyme. hygrozyme is not available in my local grow shop if it comes around i will denfinetly check it out.
it seems im getting less seeds than though from the SSH x PTK - seems its a bit dificult to fecundate - or maybe it has gone a bit sterile with the years?? anyway it doesnt seems to come more than 5-10 seeds of SSH/PTK xPTK.
i hope though the last 4 clones of the SSH x PTK i polinated will give results too
the first SSHxPTK i polinated with LDS, Cascadia and PTK will also only give a few seeds.
south spain is having a big climate change - they expect the temps to rise about 5 degrees in general - this means the winter will become even more un-existant - but also it means the area i live in will become even more desertic - but the extended hot season (early spring and late autumn) will most likelly make greenhouse growing a good idea.
what makes me doubtfull is the fact the summer temps will go even higher - so we will be expecting temps from 45 - 55 degrees Celsius during the hottest parts of the year.
this is going to have diverse effects on the nature, economy and tourism.
most likelly water will become rationed and very expensive.
interesting future?
hehe
--------
i realized the water my dehumidifier pulls out of the air in the grow-room can be re-used as distilled water -
atleast the power use (300W) is going to get recompensed a little bit by saving on water hehe.
im going to call the brand and ask if there is any thing they can say against using the water for household plants. it should be ok since as far as i know the dehumidifying process is mechanical and works with condensation. so as far as i know there should be no chemicals inside that could damage the plants. but its never a bad idea to double-check when u got doubts...
also i checked and the last polination i made 8 days ago - so i shouldnt see too much seeds coming out of there yet - but if in a weeks time there is no signs - i will take it for a fook-up. better luck next time. hehe
maybe the pollen from the PTK male stopped beeing viable after a while? maybe the high humidity in the space they are in affected the pollen quality.. things that i got to sort out in the future, before i do any serious crosses
besides that yesterdays check-up on the seeded plants from the first big polination round are developing really nicelly - the mozambique seems to be going to give me maybe 100 seeds or more - same goes with the cascadia. the smal DC is going to give maybe 10 seeds - not more - the first X18 x DC is completelly seeded so i expect a nice amount there too - atleast 20+.
the Cheese x TW dusted with PTK is looking like its going to give about 10 seeds maybe - same goes with the f2 of the LDS.
of the seeds i planted the past week - there is a few oaxacans that have come up - and also a bunch of the others i planted. there is still a few seeds left to pop - lets see if they doo or not.
Too bad about the seeds. Sometimes you can get more than you know what to do with and other times the lady's just don't want to be knocked up. I have read that humidity can infact make pollen less viable too. But I think you'll end up with a few more seeds than you think you have ussually theres a few barried deep inside.
