Project EDEN - the COCO-COOP

hi bonecarver
do you soak your seeds, or wrap them in tissue untill a little root is showing,or do you plant straight into soil/coco?. stay lucky

i plant seeds into rockwool tabs - to me this has shown to be the MOST reliable method. no soilborn deseases has a chance to get in touch with the tap root of the seedlings. this greatly increases success rates. also rockwool tabs hold humidity atleast for 24h once soaked. also rockwool doesnt "float" away when watering like coco does.

i dont plant in soil unless im doing some half hearted outdoor mini guerilla. :D

seems like the next few plants are taking a long time to finish off flowering.. i bet mostly because i finally have ran out of my stash for this summer :D indeed its been one of the best june/july smokes i ever had so no complaints... the powerplants are still fattening up, and im now sure it is going to be record nugs... high resin coverage and huge piles of calyx.. and very good calyx to leaf ratio.. surelly in one week more MAX it should be done.

meanwhile the SSH/ptk x beeniemans male that is selected is increasing the size of the bracts of male flowers, and it honestly does look very promising for a male. the stench is somewhere between both parents, a mix of utter skunkyness with some hints of rotten meat and fruit. its left to see how the females develop. im not going to go in too deep in details about the two beeniemans crosses untill they start building up more... this far lots of vigor in preflowering/stretch, but without becoming lanky at all. they did not spend big amounts of N, but seemed to grow with a steady pace with low nute-doses.
the indica dominance is obvious ATM. strong sturdy stems that have entirelly healed and grown out of several crush and bend sessions. this far it has been futile to try to train it without something to tie with. i wont use strings untill i have some more space in the flowering area to spread them out.

i wont add anything to the flowering area for a few weeks more, i need to give the ones in the flowering time to finish off without getting too crowded..

last week i moved 12 seedlings and 3 big plant to vends place.. it will let the moms at my op have more space.. definetly the veg area is going to be full again sooner than expected.. got an other 12 seedlings here growing fast.. im sure in about 1-2 months they will be ready to get flowered, and that will give me lots of time to make more clones meanwhile of the favorites...

also i gotto make space for an eventual reveg of the ssh/ptk x beeniemans and the blockberry beeniemans... if they are keepers :D

stoked!

peace :D :D

had a very massive storm last friday... been without internet for a few days..

well back to normal from now on i hope :D

the last round in the flowering room has somewhat grown out of proportions, and most plants are effectivelly shading the lower nugs.. means im going to get a hella lot of nice tips, and not so nice lower nugs.... sounds like its going to be BHO time again! :D would be suitable now before the camping trip....

this summer started off pretty amazingly well, but at the moment the extreme heat came, the plants went a bit crazy.. also i must admit i went haywire and feed about twice as much as usually, because i forgot to adjust to my summer nute regime. well ... once i realized my misstake (by realizing i finished all nutes in half the time) i started to feed as suposed to..

well there was a few plants that did not make it well thru this treatment... lots of heat, and lots of nutes accumulating in the coco means crappy nugs because of higher EC and high N levels etc et.. means 3 BIG plants got quite messed up. lots of nugs but not as solid as suposed to.. its important to allways be on top of thigs.. not a moment to relax :D

well the last plants to harvest are a lot more better than those 3 freaks earlier mentioned. the resin coverage is huge, and the top kolas look complettelly white, in comparison to the yellowing leafs of the last weeks of 12/12..

particularlly i think the Powerplant did verywell. i realize now also power plant as chronic does not benefit from too many tops, and a small plant yielded enormous fat kolas while the big one is yielding smaller and somewhat fluffier nugs. specially the tops part of the plant that is at a height that does not get too much light.

really big plants are nice to flower.. .but if they grow too big... its really a mess to fit them nicelly under the lights... one option is to putm in a few more HPS's to cover the back side of the grow room with same intensity as the middle.. 2-3 more 600W HPS should definetly help to cover that area nicelly. this winter i will look into fixing that.. during summer it would most likelly be too much heat unless i put in an airconditioner also..

but anyway.. im just moments away from harvesting a HUGE SSH-PTK. maybe 300+g in one BIG bush. that will keep me stoned for a while :D

best thing how ever... i got one SSH/PTK in the first 1/3rd's of flowering - and it will be getting a lot of light.. its now under 1800W - more or less completelly covered by the lights and as soon as i have cut the SSH/PTK bush thats finishing off, things will improve even more for it specially, and somewhat for the rest too.

also i think the SSH/PTK x beeniemans at the moment is looking VERY VERY promising. its clearly about TWICE as productive as then blockberry/beeniemans, and it is allready starting to get resin, and its only starting to form up clusters of calyx. the smell is peculiar, stinky and intense with almost solvent like tones, and fruity tangy and skunky. its got a very sturdy stem, and the branching is very tight along the stem. this means im sure it will improve by getting spread out a bit.. and as soon as i can - i will do it! :D

also in flowering is a jaggen (jackflash) x ssh/ptk/ptk, and some other goodies, but the rest of the plants are FAR from big.. so im going to give them as much space as possible to see if they will fill it up with nugs :D

next few plants in veg, i will not put to flower untill im back from vacations at least, and after i have taken a few clones, since rigth now there is not any clones of the main keepers, just moms.

well... my scissor finger is itching.. i think ill go down and start to peel that ssh/ptk of leafs..

peace all

have fun ridding that ssh/ptk lady of her skirts

glad to hear your stash problems are looking to be sorted out soon. wish i could say the same when it comes to quality stash, still have enough medium quality bud, just not enough of the really tasty stuff to last till next batch of tasty stuff will be ready. so i'm making my goodies last by smoking the med quality top 44 more and the sd x cj a lot less. just started 13 seeds of my sd x cj and 2 seeds of my top44xsd/cj crosses yesterday in my veg box, which has been empty for about a week with me being lazy and working on my outdoor plants, with any luck 1 or 2 of those guerrilla plant phenos will go in the higher quality bud category.

sucks being without internet eh?

peace out

BoneCarver, i hear what your saying about flowering big plants, they dont seem to skip a beat! Ive always been to impatient and flowered too small, this round i waited to long and they are looking Hott!! i feel you about fitting them under the lights tho!

:D

next big plants are all bent to fit properly under the lights. im sure its going to yield even mroe than the one i cut a few days ago.

been working with the outdoor spot today. the cover is resulting bigger than i thought. it will atleast be around 1 x 3 m. it might not be much, but it will be enough for a few big plants, since the plants are covered to a heigth of 1.6m and that is even before i have made anykind of structure.. as i will later to comodate a roof, and etc.. wont go into dtails too much
but im ready to take out 2 small plants very soon to see how they will go. maybe i will even throw out a big plant i been vegging for too long..
peace all :D

damn it i cant believe i didnt see the post!
better late reply than never :D :D been stressing around in the garden :D the storm got me worried with the veggies etc, but its all good :D

last 3-4 weeks i been smoking my misstakes from july hehe :D i mean i went overboard with nutes and got lesser quality nutes :D the good thing is the tolerance goes down :D hehe

now im prepared to get to smoke the goodies again, but i gotto wait a week more or so :D i think i will have even time to harvest a few more plants of smaller size, before the batch thats drying now is gonna be properly dry and cured.

suddenly its lots of plants reaching end flowering, and honeslty its awesome - it takes away a lot of stress for months to come. this time around i will even need to fill up the jars :D latelly i been just letting the nugs dry on the drying screens, and i just take a bunch when i feel like smoking.. :D im lazy i know, but usually i smoke it all withing a month or so. no need to jar it too much for that :D hehe i just air cure it :D hehe

well

one bad thing is i got now not that many big plants left in the veg area, and i got absolutelly no clones for back up. i need to cut clones as soon as possible.. cant flower the moms if i dont root a bunch first :D but it means i know im in for some interesting times ahead :D hehe hopefully it will work out ok hehe

the spot i have selected for the outdoor plants is shades most part of the morning but it got very good light coverage from about 10.30 -11.00 untill sunset. im seriously thinking about caulking the wall white. this would greatly increase the amount of light the plants would recieve. the walls i now made out of concrete blocks, it reflects quite well, but an all white surface would be preferable.

i have dedided to cover the sourrounding water containers with shade cloth. this will most likelly help to keep the root area of the plants cooler, since BIG water boddies that are shaded wont heat up too much, and it will help to buffer the temps a little bit.

this means in winter the water containers might help also to buffer the daytime warmth. the spot is on the south/south west side. once the area gets a roof im sure the little greenhouse will be even warmer in winter. im opting for carbocrylate. it disperses the light, and also insulates a little bit, beeing hollow chambered, or rather a "waffle design" with airchambers. also this makes it impossible to see thru it, but at the same time 99% of the light is let thru. yes, normal glas does filter more light than carbocrylate, thats why ghood greenhouses are made with it. its a fairly expensive material, but worth every extra euro it will cost, mostly for the long life span, and the abilities.

the only open side of the area will be mostly covered by 200-300 liter barrels, that also are for water. mainly all of he water containers are for my garden/veggie plot. but also for my MJ grow.. rain water is free low EC water - and here i got to take advantage off every drop i can..

the bottom of the green house area is going to be covered with a profesional landscaping cloth to prevent bad herbs to emerge. this cloth will be covered with a 5-10 cm layer of gravel to allov for plenty of extra volume for eventuall water, and also at warm days wetting the gravel, will effectivelly creat a lower temped micro climate in the lower parts. also the extra humidity will help the plants to cope with the over 40º celsius we often get here in summer. also im sure since the spot is close to a wall the plants will have the tops quite hot, but as long as parts of the plants are properly shaded (cooled) the root-temps will be lower. hopefully this time the pots wont need to get insulated, but im prepared to do it also. polyurethane foam sticks to anything and will effectivelly protect the inside from heat. i know since i have at my days of building worker / structure sculptor used it to cover 5 gallon water bottles, and i have had them keep ice cold all day, even when its 45º degrees in the shade.

im finally getting towards a solution for growing outdoors, and i AM REALLY STOKED!!!! if i can cover the area with plants next summer, i will definetly be able to get up to a kilo of herb! !! ! ! !

this autumn/winter test session will not produce as much as it could.. but its going to be fun!!! :D

possible candidates to go outside are ;
1 ssh/ptk x beeniemans
1 blockberry x beeniemans
1 unknown big plant.. lost the name tag :D
1 chronic

also in the veg area i will have to adjust some things, since i got less plants in there i will put the ligths in a more concentrated area. it means i got to move 3 x 65W tubes and fittings.. a quick thing..

peace all! :D

nice to see ya mate :D hope all is good!

hehe nah man its all chilled :D specially now after harvesting... hehe

i really hope that beeniemans is a female - such a special smoke !

i hope the ssh/ptk turns out interesting too :D it would be awesome if ya got one similar to mine.

the ssh/ptk x beeniemans female i got in flowering is looking very promisng this far. its early in flowering, but there is allready resin on some leafs, and also the preflowers, have grown into huge, 1cm long resin covered calyxes. this hopefully keeps up in the nugs :D this far its a sturdy small bush with a lot of bud sites.

i got a male of the above cross also, but i dont know i finally will have a female in a good moment for recieveing a dusting ..

the outdoor spot is almost finished. whats left will be sorted out during this coming week. i want to have it prepared to be able to put out plants the night after i get back from the camping trip.

i got some recycled coco i will use for the outdoor project. i dont mind using recycled coco, since i use very lowe EC in end flowering, and i will in any case flush the coco out one more time before transplanting. im sure the plants will continue growing quite a lot before the the finish off..

hopefuly the heat wave we are getting again will not continue many weeks. i dont feel like watering the plants several times a day. if that would be necesary i need to think out a drip sysem. the spot is rigth outside my garden shed, that actually is an extention of the house. this means its easy to make a steath watering system, where i dont even have to be in with the plants to water them. i will just make a hole in the wall, and pull out tubes for a watering system from there. this would mean i only have to prepare a rez inside the shed, and fill the rez up continuosly.

its gonna be fun :D

im not sure yet of what all plants i will take out to the spot for the first run. but i definetly think i will try to squeeze in as many as i can.

i still gotto build a nice door to close of the entrance to the grow area. the door has to be steatlhy also.. i dont want to make ppl want to look in to see whats behind it. even though no one but the ones i invite do walk around at the back area of the house, but still im worried that from some certain angle it could be possible to see the plants. im sure ill think of something soon enough :D :D

-----------------

meanwhile indoors in the grow..

the flowering room is fattening up nicelly.. one plant im really looking forward to smoke again is the jaggen x ssh/ptk/ptk. its still far from ready ..

the ssh/ptk is definetly going to give a record yield..

flo room rigth now. one ssh/ptk is taking up most of the room.
the jaggen is in the back on the left side of the pick. its the bundle of kolas close together, in the picture under the switched off light bulb on the left..

chronic. over 200g - cant remember exactly anymore. but it was a good yilder.

should add the sticks are holding up the biggest branches of the SSH/PTK, so that the weigth wont push the kolas down thru the canopy.

the big ssh/ptk is pistolwhipped, but i did not clear out any kolas, just lower brancehs and shoots. this made it a bit messy to fit it in there in the first place, since its a lot of branches with a lot of tieing involved to also try to spread it out to an even canopy. many branches are snapped and twsited 180º to go to a horizontal position, in completelly oposite direction to its actual growing direction. this plant really takes well to crushing and bending of stems.

same ability has been inherited in the ssh/ptk x beeniemans... thats why im specially interested in the outcome of that one. should add the ssh/ptk x beeniemans is getting really fast into a very productive stage of flowering, far more vigor that expected. its about 4-6 times better producer than the blockberry beeniemans this far. its dificult to say how big the kolas might get on the ssh/ptk x beeniemans, but its going to be solid it looks.. very good calyx to leaf ratio. resin allready on some fan leaves, but its far from getting done so im holding on to give too much descriptive reports. on thing is sure. i like it a lot :D :D :D

I love how you "Grow Them Big"!!!!! It makes so much sense to me to let them get as big as possible in veg mode before flipping to flower.

Your garden looks very full and healthy :)

B

bonecarver_OG

yeah man :D the only drawback is the need of a veg area 3-4 times bigger than the flowering area...

B

bonecarver_OG

wow... suffering an other heatwave here :D hehe

been flushing the plants in late flowering to remove any excess rests of nitrogen. the bloombastic is very nice, but it does make the leafs a tad bit too green, because of the tin y amount of nitrogen it contains, and also the amount of iron. this is good in general, since the amounts are small and helpsto keep the health of the plants at max during mid to late flowering. but me i want to see lots of pale leaf before harvest, so i make sure i dont feed any N the last two weeks or so. the plants that have been fed bloombastic in late flowering are all looking good, but in some i can see signs of higher levels of N during the build up stage. it has not really affected resin content nor nug size, rather the oposite. but there is a few plants that have that darker green colour i want to make sure to get rid off.. thats it no mayor worry :D

the ssh/ptk x beeniemans is building up very nicelly and this far looks like a good yielder. in many ways i can see PTK dominance, but also there is a heavy ssh influence. ptk is not as quick grower at all compared to this. might be the beeniemans that added a boost to the vigor.

finally the blockberry/beeniemans is starting to get a rich smell. this last cross id say is dominated by the beeniemans, atleast this far.

the jaggen x ssh/ptk/ptk is just spitting out fat calyx all over and looks like it still has a lot more to give before its all done. definetly a huge yielder.. such a small clone and so much nug. this is definetly from the genetics of the jaggen cut :D thansk hazeventura! :D

the ssh/ptk/ssh/lp cut is looking good also, but in yields its no where close to the jaggen/ssh/ptk/ptk and i might decide later this autumn to not to keep it, just to give space to the best moms possible.

the seedlings planted a month or so back are growing fast.. soon its going to be time to flower out a whole bunch of new cuts :D hopefully there will be nice examples to reveg and continue working with.

peace all

bonecarver_OG

been on a short camping trip.. came back to find the big ssh/ptk in flowering pretty much dead. it had gotten dry because of the heat.. well anyway, i lost max a week of fattening up or so, so the loss is not all that serious. also i harvested one jaggen x ssh/ptk/ptk. i got once again all drying screens complettelly loaded with nugs.. so afterall it should cover me for a while.

i have put in a bunch of new plants to flower, since the gap after the big ssh/ptk is huge, and i want to fill it up as quick as possible. in went a few faves of earlier to give space for new plants. im planning to reveg the ssh/ptk x beeniemans, so i need a big nice spot for it in a while.

meanwhile the seedlings last planted all have grown a lot, and many are getting ready for an other transplant.

i have prepared the outdoor spot pretty much to the state i want to have it - minus the last thing wich is some kind of cover for the surrounding objects to make sure its not possible to see thru into the grow area, from no angle at all. i have allready taken out about 60 liters of recycled coco, and as soon as i can i will take out 2 plants to flower them outside. i have yet not decided 100% on wich will be in the test round.. but soon ill decide. i dont have too many plants to pick thru, but i got to make sure i keep the most important moms etc in the veg area, so finally i have to decide between a powerplant, chronic, ssh/ptk x ssh/lp, jaggen x ssh/ptk/ptk, and blockberry x beeniemans choice.

peace!

D

sounding nice!...so do you plan to amend your outdoor coco with organics or something, or

will you water with coco nutes?...I'm curious because the feeding seems the only tricky

part of outdoor coco...don't want to be seen watering every day, that's for

sure!!...anyway, keep it up, man...SSHxPTK all day!!! Peace
