Nugalicious,
preliminary reports say the mother and son were dead for a day or two before he killed himself
I thought prelim reports said it was a "double murder-suicide", but if the mother and son were both dead beforehand then that certainly would add a different twist to the story.

I guess we'll all just have to be patient and wait for a more conclusive update before we draw any conclusions about what has happened. In retrospect I probably should've worded my previous post a bit differently, and likewise I think its a bit early for you to be drawing conclusions about steroids taking him over the top and 'butchering' his wife etc, but if indeed this was a double-murder suicide then I'm not so sure he deserves a tribute show ...

Anyway regardless of what has happened, best wishes to his family and friends.

This is probably wrong, but, it explaines this murder, and the other, less famous one. I think in both cases, the wife /gf, told the guy that the kid was not his. Anyone that has been married can understand killing your wife/husband, with love, comes also hate, the ying and the yang. But to kill your child........there has to be a reason. Now I am not saying that this is true, I am saying that it is what the women told the men to set them off, to their own demise. What else would make you slay your own child? I have been insane [still?], and would still not have even thought of such a thing. I am probably wrong, but it is an equation that works.

Snuffing the kid and strangling the wife before hanging himself. Sad, but I'm not surprised that someone would do such a thing, especially now adays.

Bad relationships can lead to murder, suicide
By: VeronicaCisnero, University media.
www.thenichollsworth.com/media/stor...hips.Can.Lead.To.Murder.Suicide-2883342.shtml

They have been together for years and the unruly arguments they pursue have existed for the same amount of time. As the couple argues in the privacy of their home, fists fly and no one is aware except for those involved. Next time, there may not be a next time.

According to a brochure written and produced by the National Woman Abuse Prevention Project, researchers estimate that three to four million women are abused in the home each year by their husbands or partners.
Approximately 95 percent of domestic violence victims are women, according to the Department of Justice.

The University handles approximately four or five domestic violence cases per semester. Most cases go unreported, Craig Jaccuzzo, University Chief of Police, said. He said it is most commonly reported when a violent act escalates to cause an injury or almost death.

"A trend that law enforcement officers are seeing across the country and in this region is the escalating murder/suicide rate between relationships that have gone wrong," Jaccuzzo said.

Domestic violence is any incident of threatening behavior, violence or abuse between adults who are or who have been in a relationship together, between family members, regardless of gender or sexuality, according to Jaccuzzo. In order to be considered domestic violence, the aggressor and victim must be living together and trends in domestic violence are not unique to anyone, he said.

According to the Bureau of Justice Statistics, domestic violence includes intimate partner violence, as well as violence between family members.
It occurs among all races, ages and religions, and to people of all education and income levels.

The brochure written and produced by the National Woman Abuse Prevention Project titled "Domestic Violence, Understanding a Community Problem" is one of the few that are given to victims of domestic violence by University police. This is consistent among any agency that handles domestic violence, Jaccuzzo said.

Victims are always "direct[ed] to some type of resource to let them know their rights as a victim" and informed of counseling services available. A "channel of communication" is always left between the victim and the police department, Jaccuzzo said.

A random sample of approximately 3,400 women in a group health program in the United States found that 44 percent of them experienced intimate partner violence in their adult lifetime, according to the Group Health Cooperative Center for Health Studies...

"Some people might not realize they're in an unhealthy relationship," Jaccuzzo said. "That cycle from the home to the relationship may continue. (The victim) may think, 'this is how it's always been. I accept it,' and sometimes professionals intervene to let you know it's unhealthy."

Separation from a spouse or loved one is one factor that sometimes prevents victims from reporting domestic violence, Jaccuzzo said.

"Or, it's the fear itself of making that big step of saying it's over," he said.

According to the Bureau of Justice Statistics, "violence between intimates is difficult to measure because it often occurs in private and victims are often reluctant to report incidents to anyone because of shame or fear of reprisal."

I just heard one minute ago on Fox News that Chris Benoit "strangled his son, smothered his wife, and hanged himself" :(

[edit] Because i was making this post, I missed a short interview with one of Chris's friends, but when I got back to the TV it was clear they were talking about steroids [/edit]

Maybe I'm reading this wrong but this story makes it sound like WWE knew some the details about the death prior to airing the tribute.

World Wrestling Entertainment said on its Web site that the organization asked authorities to check on Benoit and his family after being alerted by friends who received "several curious text messages sent by Benoit early Sunday morning."
The WWE also announced that Benoit failed to appear at a Saturday live event in Beaumont, Texas, as well as the WWE's "Vengeance" event in Houston Sunday night, an absence attributed to a "family emergency."

The WWE also reported that it was in possession of further information regarding the police investigation and the cause of death, but the Fayette County Sheriff's Department has requested that the pro wrestling organization not release additional details at this time.

No one that kills his family deserves a tribute.

Well, what is known is that Chris Benoit was excused from fighting on the weekend because of a "family emergency", so yes it seems something big has happened prior to this ... i dont think there are any details yet tho, so lets not speculate.

However it seems that news articles are increasingly calling it a "murder-suicide" ... and if that's the case, then I would find it sickening if the WWE made a tribute show to him simply because he was a great wrestler. I don't care how good you are in your profession ... if you murder your son and wife you are NOT worthy of ANY praise.

Steroid rage maybe? :bashhead:

That's my guess.

Look at any pics of the meathead and it's for sure he was on 'roids.

Steroid psychosis is real, and does in some cases lead to tragedies like this.........another reason why I can't stand professional wrestling and everything it stands for and promotes.

These brainless meathead acrobats are idolised for what reason again???

What a worthless piece of shit.
Whaaaaaa...I'm not happy even though I'm better off than 90% of the world. Look at me I'm depressed so I'm gonna end 2 other lives. Whaaaa...I'm on TV and I can't handle the pressure. What a spineless prick.

edit:
The guy was a FUCKING ACTOR. Not a wrestler.
Anyone want to watch a choreographed (sp) football game? :nono:
WWE is just a roidfest soap opera.

Now that's just assuming things. I haven't heard one media report that stated anything to do with depression or pressure. Since they did say 'roids were found in the home, like others my money is on 'roid rage.

money, fame and drugs can drive a person absolutely insane....beyond any point of coming back to reality...Its a shame for this to happen to any family, but its even worse when you have a celebrity, escpecially a role model to the youth, who has touched many peoples lives....especially when it is a person in an industry most right off as violent and the people in wwe are constantly trying to portray themselves as positive figures for the youth....

from watching various news reports I was shocked by the alarming number of pro wrestler deaths.

All the guys that I grew up watching are dead.

Yeah, I ended up at Wikipedia getting some info on Benoit and then just ended up following links to all the wrestlers I remembered from the 70's and 80's.

It was kinda shocking to find out how many are dead now. Especially the number that died from heart attacks at pretty young ages.

Just another piece of our childhood gone.

Sad.

Nancy was killed on Friday in family room on an upper level of the family mansion. Blood was found under her head and her feet and wrists were bound, the county's district attorney said.

Daniel died late on Saturday or early Sunday. His body was found in his bed, the prosecutor Scott Ballard said, according to the Associated Press.

Bibles were placed beside both bodies. Police have said autopsies have shown all three died of asphyxiation.

The superstar then waited up to a full day before taking his own life by hanging himself using a pulley on one of his weights machines, Mr Ballard said.

He said it was "bizarre" that Benoit had apparently stayed inside the house with the bodies for up to two full days.

"I'm baffled about why anybody would kill a seven-year-old," Mr Ballard said. "I don't think we'll ever be able wrap our head around that."

WWE said those details prove "roid rage" could not be to blame.

"The physical findings announced by authorities indicate deliberation, not rage.

"The wife's feet and hands were bound and she was asphyxiated, not beaten to death. By the account of the authorities, there were substantial periods of time between the death of the wife and the death of the son, again suggesting deliberate thought, not rage.

"The presence of a Bible by each is also not an act of rage."

Sorry but I have no sympathy for somebody who murders his wife and 7yo son.

And likewise I don't think the WWE should be changing their schedule this week to include a tribute show for him. It doesn't matter how good a wrestler he was or how long he wrestled for, at the end of the day he's somebody who has murdered a 7 year old and a mother.
