hi everybody this is my first post- ive been on here for a while lurkin but it took a minute to get my membership validated LOL. I know a few people who posted on here but where i'm from everybody grows so advice is plentiful and sometimes questionable, so i come to the experts. sorry for ramblin i'm faded off some OG. So heres my main man's room so far

10x10ft. sealed room with 12x45gallon bins filled with 40 plants each.. 12x40 = 480 plants under 4x1000W HPS. ...cooled by a 10,000BTU window AC

we drillled holes in the bottom of each bin for drainage and placed them on top of the lids (upside-down bin lids act as drip trays)

filled bottom 4 inches of each bin with styrofoam peanuts for drainage (cheaper than rocks), then topped off the bins with FFOF (3.5 bags per bin),

then planted clones in 1" cubes 5x8 in each bin (5 rows of 8)... there is about 3 inches in between them, bins are 36"x21". approx 7.5plants per ft sq.

we lollipopped them and prune them daily. these things are bushy indicas, and it's a task trimming off enough fan leaves to keep them from crowding each other in the bins (LOL impossible) but we spend about 5 hours per week pruning.

3 of the bins are a month old, and about a foot taller than the rest. this is because of a problem getting all the clones. now the old bins are getting overgrown as all hell... it will be interesting to see them bud :) the other 9 bins have been vegging for about 2 weeks

just started 12/12, using Boticanire pro blend + budswell. any suggestions on the ferts will be welcomed lol. Temps run around 83F with lights on... i wish i had sum co2 but no flow right now, oh well :(

.................................
The strain is a project of ours.. S.C.Tangerine. The original mom was grown from seeds found in a elbow of Tangerine Cream (tangerine x purple cream). We grew out 6 of those bagseeds, all were female (hermy?), and the mom we chose was the bushiest, frostiest, stankiest, most tangerine-tasting of them all. and she yielded 1/2LB in a 5gal pot outdoors, as well as some very valuable cuttings which are our current moms. the other seeds produced purple phenotypes, but the mom we chose is more of a pure tangerine.

feel free for any questions/comments

very cool setup and awesome plant count for the amount of space your in.

man is it gonna be packed in there when they flower lol. survival of the fittest I guess?

can't wait to see them grow. good stuff

Very nice. Well done.

I hope you don't run into troubles because of the tubs. I would've gone for single containers for each plant.

Anyways, good luck...

Subscribed. I'm interested to see how your yields turn out with so many plants packed in so close. I've seen it done with a hydrofarm, but never with soil.

And the rules for survival are ... ?
(i think it says survival ...)

Rules for survival:
1. do not touch hot wire
2. do not stick your finger in the outlet
3. do not urinate in the outlet
4. tracers work both ways
5. don't shit where you eat
6. stay away from Dirty D
7. ???

my boy was faded when he wrote that list, not sure what most of them mean. but he wired it proper i cant complain

i'm copying a friend of mine, who has been using this method for about a year now.. He has one of my mothers, and offered me free babies, so i said fuck it, i might as well do a SOG. this is the cheapest way by far: 12 bins and 40 bags FFOF soil were about $500 total and the bins are reusable

but anyway he is getting half-ounce buds off each plant, SOG single-top style. claims to get almost a LB per bin, we'll see.

I've done experiments with using perlite or rocks or as you're using, foam peanuts for drainage. Logically it should work, but soil works on capillary movement. The soil will be less likely to lose water to the perlite, as the perlite (foam etc) has too much air space to "steal" water from the soil. In this situation you'll be relying on gravity to drain the buckets.

Edit: Didn't want to come off sounding like a dick. I dig the grow, that many plants should be fun. It's something I should look into, as I currently have 23 strains, and still am open to more, haha. Good luck.

I run the same style...

Best of luck... best to alternate bins with dirt, from a previous grow, then fresh.

Once you have done it enough, you won't have to pay for dirt. However if you are using salt based nutrients, then you might have a little problem with the salt locking everything out.

Very nice lookin setup. I am a bit curious about a few things you said about 'sealed room' and 'no flow right now'....

I hope you have some kind of in-out airflow or a CO2 generator... once those plants start breathing they'll be starving for air! Also, with the plants so closely together, make sure you've got air circulating in the room as well so that you don't get powdery mildew, etc, from stagnant air.
