I don't know of anything that will completely block the heat from your growroom. Is the grow in your loft? If it isn't in the loft, then don't worry. Police need a warrant to use FLIR, if they even have it out where you live. If the grow is in the loft, then insulate the room or roof very well, so the heat is contained in your house. Also, keep your temperatures under control and use mylar or foylon in your grow area so it reflects the heat/light back towards the source (it helps insulate).

More details about the grow would help.

I've posted this before in another thread. There are ways to block IR and Thermal Imaging. I don't want to go into any details, because of Army School training on this type of stuff. You can do a search on the web and find different thermal imaging blocking technics. It is postible and I will show some testing once i no longer live in the USA. I will post before and after photo's for all to enjoy about blocking this nasty heat source, but untill then. Your going to have to search on the internet about thermal imaging blocking technics. Wish i could post more, but i'm on probation now and don't want to chance anything more.
Good Luck

Dr Feelgood - Needing warrants to do FLIR is only for the US - he's in England.

Dave - Insulation helps a great deal. Fans to circulate the air will help prevent "hot spots" and an exhaust fan to carry the heat out. An under-eave vent will carry the heat out the side below the eaves of the roof; since a lot of bathroom vent fans are exhausted this way, it shouldn't look suspicious.

nice one you guys, but i have seen on the tv cop shows and anyone on the run get picked up on camara no matter where they run. so 2 600w glowing bulbs will stick out lick a sore thumb. In the summer i am going to try the cool shades so hoppfully that will dispurse some of the heat.I also would like to line out my loft with something just to keep the temp a bit more even any ideas?

digital ballasts, they dosnt heat up, and cool tubes for the lights.... if possible get a portatil AC, and aim the cool air to the lights... also, if possible cover the roof with a thick metal paper...

You are on the right track. As for the roof and linging it with something. There are some thermal blocking sheet of foam out there with a mylar type coating on both sides. This stuff really work and if you tape the room off. You should only have one hot spot. The only hot spot should be the exit exhaust and you can mask that also. I wish i could get into detail, but i will later on down the road with pictures of a house with and without thermal protection. I'll include White Hot and Dark Hot pictures as the military thermal imaging they use.
Good Luck

The stuff you are talking about create's a heat shield. It blocks the main heat signature from the FLIR's. Once I'm done with my PB. I'll be relocating and some of you know this. I'll be doing alot once i'm out of the USA. Once of the things i'm going to be doing is testing with a brand new FLIR unit. The same type of unit the police and fire department use here in the good old USA. I have alot of friends and family members that grow and they are getting worried about all the fly over's. I will have plenty of pictures of a house with thermal protection and the same house without it. The pictures with be in both White Hot and Black Hot. Should make for some good testing. I'll also list name and vender's of the product's used to block IR and Thermal Imaging. These FLIR units aren't cheap, but not out of the price range for local departments. I hope no one ever goes through getting busted like i did. My bust was not the case of a FLIR scan, but something else. Good luck and nice thread.
Take care

It will be fun, since i'm not flipping the bid for the FLIR unit. I was asked by friends to do a couple of runs with the unit of my choice and do a write up on what can and can't be done to avoid being seen. I've had training with this type of stuff in the Army. It's going to be fun and since i'm not going to be in the USA when i do all the testing. I'm going to see if i can rent a chopper and do a couple of fly over's, but there will be plenty of street shots with the unit. The unit i'm going to be gettgin will be brand new out of the box and a unit that is used by most Police departments and Fire departments, so there are less of a chance of a unit being better or lesser. Want to stay as close to the same unit as LEO. It should be fun and very helpfull for everyone. This stuff is going to be in my second book that i'll be writing. Second book is going to be for all those Commerical growers or large scale growers. Well, i've Hi Jacked this thread enough.
Sorry and take care

Id say your safest bet is having a insulated growbox with inline/squirrel cage fan and a carbon scrubber blowing into a ventilated loft. or another room in your house.

But these are only useful for personal growers, unless you really are going with something elaborate and compact. Probably needing air conditioning, if its venting to the rest of ur house.

wow that shit is expensive but if it works who could put a price on freedom

Just my 2 pennies - Run your grow during the day if you have a cooling setup. The roof would already have a very high heat signature from the sun. If it's raining, they probably ain't gonna be flying anyway.
GDW could probably give a yeh or ney about this stuff- http://stores.ebay.com/Energy-Efficient-Solutions
This seller offers all types of reflective heat barriers for conserving energy at home. Here's a quote from the Radiant Barrier Reflective Foil -
A Little Physics - Double Sided RB
There are two properties of Radiant Barriers which make them effective at stopping radiant heat. First, the Aluminum is reflective, this reflects the heat on the hot side. Second, Aluminum has a low emissivity value of .03, this means that the Foil doesn't emit heat on the cold side. In order to benefit from both of these properties, you must have Aluminum on both sides of the material. If you buy radiant barrier from somewhere else, make sure that it is double sided for maximum effectiveness.

Hope this helps with ideas. Think outside the box, go to your hardware store and ask about energy saving products for your attic, you might get lucky.
Peace

I'm not endorsing the seller just trying to throw out some ideas
