high Rouge, what i used was a hurricane glass i got at a local craft store, they're made to provide a chimney of sorts for candles and such.
and ZAPOT, i think you're over-thinking this, especially if you are new to growing.
first, understand that we use more red in flower and more blue in veg because we are attempting to replicate the effects of the sun on our plants, so they grow big and fat for us.
...the reason for that is that, due to the angle of the sunlight as it passes through the atmosphere, we get more blue light in the spring and more red light in the fall.
but...we do get both red and blue at all times, just in different ratios, so you, as the sun, must try and provide what your plants evolved to need.
if you're still relatively new at this, don't wait until you have the absolute perfect set-up, just pop some beans and learn from your plants while you at the same time continue your research.
