Hey cool mini PPK grow! I've never flowered with cfl. your results look better than I'd expect!

waaaaaaay back I bought a 250w lumatek digi ballast and both hps and mh bulbs. You can still get them, both the bulbs and ballast are widely available.

If you ever try it you will find the mh bulb is significantly hotter than your current setup but.... the 250 w hps bulb is not that much hotter than your current 4-bulb cfl setup (I've used cfl for rooting and early veg stuff plus bonsai moms).

the difference in results will be significant.

I grew at a facility with hps and mh but at home I used to always have a couple plants in the bedroom. I would surround them with 26 watt cfl blue and orange lights. I definetly know what the appeal is with those cfl lights. You know, those lights emit a small amount of UV radiation. I know some people might disagree but Im in the Ed Rosenthaul school of thought that UV-B is great!!!!

His grows are simply amazing for using nothing but T5 flouros.

Beautiful plants FlowerFarmer. One thing I've noticed after looking at all these plants in PPK: HEALTH. You rarely see plants this size looking as healthy as these do. Generally, there's always some yellowing of older leaves, etc... It speaks to the accuracy of the nutrient delivery, O2 levels in solution, temp and PH control. I just haven't run across any other method that maintains the accuracy of those vital components with as little work as PPK requires.

I literally mix my Jack's Hydro according to directions, make sure my solution temp is set, set my timers and walk away. No fooling with PH levels, checking run-off, tweaking PPM's, measuring add-back's, none of that shit. I would feel comfortable walking away for a week with no intervention whatsoever.

yes, i strongly recommend this device to new growers! it's dead simple to build and operate. reliably grows huge, heavy plants with very little maintenance.

and if you get involved with PPKs, some of these in the appropriate sizes will save you allot of time. I've drilled out (in the past) ALLOT of black buckets with spade bits, spiral bits and hole saws.... there are more expensive models at HD or Lowes but we're drillin plastic..

I started growing for the first time four months ago and all I've done is ppk. I definitely made some rookie mistakes but within a very short amount of time, corrections were made and now I'm putting some monster plants into flower. PPK is a breeze once you get going. These pictures were taken on Jan 16th and 30th, respectively. Two weeks apart. . . I'm starting to really get the hang of this. Time to flip some Sour Urkle!

Thanks for the reply. I am starting to really get a good understanding of ppk I have to go back and do some reading on the set up. I was looking at a I believe it's called rdwc set up and Heath robinsons thread on here. But I think ppk fits more for me to start getting some runs under my belt. Also it seems a good way to learn. Do u have any thoughts of strains that are forgiving for a first timer?

i don't think strains really matter, they're gonna grow huge either way, this style of growing is so very easy i have gotten too comfy and forget sometimes that i have anything growing.

The plants were originally setup for scrog and i totally forgot about it, they outgrew the screens, lol

I have Sativas and Indica strains in PPK. I LOVE PPK's!!!

Huge shout out to D9 for creating a system that is truly a "Set it and forget it" system.

I have grown every way possible since 92', I found Aeroponics to be the best and most simplest system i have ever used, then came PPK's

I have another question for you. I was initially going to build a 10 x20 shed but I would have to pull permits. But I can build 10 x 12 ft shed with no permits. Is that enough space to do a 6-8 plant grow with ppl?

i would only put 4 in there but it depends on your goals. short veg, long veg, vegging outside of flower room, legal limits, etc.

They are some beasts.. and I owe it all to the PPK. This shit is boooorring. I really should be doing other things with all my free time like cleaning up my messes and honing my mom/clone/veg game, but I always end up foolin' around on ICMAG.

My 7 trees are fun, but I want more space! I'd really like to quadruple this setup and allow for slightly larger centers. Yea, then I'd have something to do..
