Planning an autoflower grow in the treetops...

Im curious about your irrigation system.
I understand you have a water rez above your pot but how you do you time the watering ?
Blumat? or a simple timer on your rez? or ...what?

I'll post some pictures later this season of my 70+ ft treetopS grow.
But you can still look up my 09 album for a little teaser !

friggin awesome dude you should do a bigger plant up there it would be sweet
thanks. Yeah, I can see a super auto doing really great up there. Next year probably

And joesmith, the blumat regulates all the water flow. It's amazing how well this thing works. You say you're growing 70+ feet up?! Thats a helluva climb pal. After measuring with a rope I found that the tree I'm in is only about 30 feet tall. Can't remember what my earlier guess was but I was way off. I climbed to the top of a ~100 ft pine when I was scouting but I dunno if I'd like to be doing that with a backpack full of supplies and water ever week, its some scary shit once you get that high without any safety gear.

Nice work Thizz

Just some ideas/comments from my side:
- If you're starting your seeds inside, let them out for a couple of hrs everyday till they get used to the UV light.
- From my experience, autos generally prefer low nutrient mediums. Hot soil will actually make 'em short and not produce much.
- But why limit it to autos? You probably get a better return with normal seeds, go fem if you want to be certain about fems. If they can't be out for too long, plant a normal early strain that finishes end of Sept now. It will take 3 months, like an auto, ut likely produce more.
- Organic repellent, try peppers and garlic. Post some pics of the leaf damanage in the infirmary.

Hope that helps, and happy climbing!

yeah, i think im going to invest in to blumats. At least some of the portable ones for intemediate waterings - they look cool as shia

fyi thiz,

i use to guerrilla in a state covered with hemp for victory still. They did utilize low flying aircraft and helis although certainly to a lesser degree than cali. Its easy to tell if its being tended when a site is spotted.

Nice work! looks like u need to cut out some branches to let more light in and use a compass to find the east-west sweet spot, that aught to give you bigger plants with an auto or normal strain...

i admire your gumpshion!

Okay they are looking very well developed and hardly drinking any water. What is bothering me though is a lot of the calyxes are already orange. They are 2 months along now, so they should be doing that soon anyway, but I'm worried that this may be a sign they've been pollinated. Reallly hoping for no seeds.

I read a thread about treetop growing years ago and one guy had found somthing that attached to a power drill that pumped water, There was a link but I dont have it.

I just wanted to say great grow! and those haters can go F*** themselves, it takes skill and balls to grow 50+ft up. and i also remember the thread that "the boys" mentioned with a drill powered pump.

seeds suck but nothing wrong with seeds with good genetics for next years grow....

If I get seeds they are guaranteed to be from hemp pollen...which aren't such great genetics... :wallbash:
Oh well, even with seeds it'll probably be some decent smoke.

That is awesome. I do not think I could climb that far up, probably fall. Good luck and be safe.

Since I had my buckets in the tree from last year. I just put the seeds in the soil this year. Not much work at all. Far Less work then with the ground plants actually. No enemies of the plant up there either, so harvest is almost guaranteed.
I feel bad that your grow is not growing good. Would love to see a picture update.
Here is one from last year.

Damn Bom I wish I could grow something like that up in the trees. I wouldn't say the grow is going bad, but its definitely not ideal. I probably need to harvest really soon, so I'll try and remember to take some pics before I chop em.

Though I really like the treegrowing concept, and I definitely agree its the easiest with plenty of good sunlight and few pests, I think I'll abandon this idea next year unless I can find a better location. The past two times I've been out to this spot there has been a lot of traffic and people so I haven't been able to check on the girls. Its a public recreation area so I should have expected that it would get a lot of midsummer traffic I guess...its time to go do some more spot scouting.

Ok I just went and harvested just now and HOLY SHIT there was something up there with my plants that scared me so much I almost fell out...A FUCKING SNAKE. I grabbed one of the plants and it rocketed straight out of there, scaring the shit out of me. I hope the fall didn't hurt him.

Also, it looks like my fears were correct and I have a good number of seeds, but it doesn't look like every bud was pollinated so I'm happy with that.

Due to the snake and some jetskis on the lake that could have seen me, I didn't get any pictures before I pulled em out. But here's a pic of the girls after a quick trim:

And heres a pic of my drying setup:

been following your grow, hats off to you for an ambitious project
i've thought about trying this myself, but it's a lot of work - especially when you have an indoor option
a snake in the trees is enough to keep me out of them, the only snake i know of that climbs trees is the copperhead
but what you saw didn't sound like that
