Thanks for looking in, topic, #1cheesebuds, le_crunch, Crafty, and everyone else out there!

topic: I built the LED panel myself. Guess you've figured it out by now, though :) There's a link to a tutorial on page 2.

I'll get you guys an update in a couple of days as I'm away from home at the moment.
Last time I checked in on the plants they looked terrible. They needed water so badly, but after getting them some they quickly perked up.
Let me tell you this, they've streched like crazy. They grew like 4 inches in a week. Right now, after tying them down some, there are 2 inches between the canopy and the LEDs. I'm gonna have to remove the reflector to be able to get the plants out without scraping the buds apart. It will definitely be challenging to finish them inside the box.

Y is that don't led lights have the lowest heat of all lights out there.

happy hollidays.
You're right, heat won't be a problem. Although, like with CFLs, leaves dry out and die if they touch a LED.

The thing is I'm not sure how much more space I can make by tying the plants down. If they'll stretch another week the bush will be bigger than the box. I could always take one of the plants out, so more accurately - it'll be challenging to finish all three plants inside the box :D

Peace

Thanks a lot, Rhyno! Stick around, 'cause I think they'll be done in a few weeks

Here we are at 11 weeks total and 7 weeks after the preflowers first showed.

The plants are still very low in odor, and there's not much smell escaping the growbox to speak of. When rubbing the plants a little there's a very sweet, candyish smell. Like a mix of bubblegum, orange, and guava.

The buds still have some filling out to do, so I'm guessing they have 3-4 more weeks to go.

All the best

Why do you place scrog so early on the plants? it seems pointless when the cannopy i way above... Enlighten me if I'm wrong plz.

unthing, cheesebuds, and lob19: thanks for looking in, I appreciate your comments! :)

Why do you place scrog so early on the plants?
I'm glad you asked, man! Yeah, the screen isn't very functional for going the traditional scrog way.
This is kinda hard to see on the pics, but the plants have to be tied down a lot, and most branches are bent like arches to not hit the ceiling.
The screen is to where I tie the stems and branches, and it saves a big deal of work. I'd call it a LST support screen :D

Thanks, Scrub! :)

lob19 - Yeah, I see how it got confusing when in the first post I acutally said I put a "scrog screen" on.

Have a good one!

Where did you source your LEDs pinstripe? Having a hard time finding anything other than red. Awesome grow you have there I'm really really impressed.

Great work. The more i see LED grown buds the more convincing the technology is.

I thing you are the most energysaver grower with real buds imho. I love your set.

Thanks for the response and kind words, guys!

Good to hear from you asa77sol :) Hope your girls in the bubbler are doing well too!

It sure is pretty energy efficient. Though, in the end, the energy saved using LEDs instead of CFLs is probably worth a nice 3 minute hot shower :D

The yield will be very exiting for both you and me guys. This is because, believe it or not, I've never ever bought weed, and my only successful harvest was a handful of weed off a Lowryder  I've built hella lot of growboxes though! :D
This is so silly - I've been spending hours on watching other's harvest pics and running back and forth to the grow box to compare the buds to a lighter.
These plants will probably yield a little more than Mr.Micro's PC grow, which was 10 grams. Bottom line - I'm exited :)

DrGreenFingerz - A very nice guy, who's into the electronics business, helped me get the equipment. Before I got in touch with him I plowed the internet for LEDs. So I know Mouser has a nice supply of golden dragons, though at the time I was gonna buy the stuff Mouser.com wouldn't ship Osram GD LEDs because of some license stuff with Osram. Anyhow, you'll be just fine with any white and blue LEDs. To compare efficiencies, divide the LED's output with its forward voltage times the current you intend to run it with.

Also, if heat and micro is not your of biggest concern, red LEDs combined with PL-Ls/tubes are really efficient and can save you a bunch of money, depending on the size of your grow.
If I were to design a bigger growbox today I'd probably combine LEDs with HPS.
There's tons to read about this, and a guy going by the name Knna has written a lot of great stuff on GC and Cannabiscafé (google translate ftw).

All the best,
