So I got a radioshack 60x-100x handheld microscope (overkill, I know, but it was only 10 bucks and it was the only one they had). Anyway, I couldn't find a clear trichome and I found a couple amber ones, but very few. The hairs are still white for the most part and kush (assuming that's the strain I have) doesn't mature for 9 weeks... so I'm a little early.
My question is, should I harvest now? I know one of the main mistakes first-time growers make is to harvest too early. I'm trying to make sure I stay in the game until it's finished, but I also want to make sure I don't wait too long and let the THC degrade. So I decided to get some feedback before I make the chop. Let me know what you think.

I'd wait until there's 50-80% amber hairs. I'm not an expert though, I've only harvested once in my life and I did it too early. Maybe a week or two more, but certainly not yet.
Depending on the strain the drying stage will be stinky. It's good to keep em in a dry and ventilated area with odor control. In my own drying experiment I think I had too much ventilation. The buds ended up crispy on the surface but the stem of the bud never really snapped as it was supposed to.
But it was very good tasting, may be because of my juice flush. I used organic (no added sugar or made from an extract or anything like that!) apple juice in my first flush, which was about a week before harvest. 1/10 of juice and 9/10 plain water. After that I didn't water at all (if I remember correctly
). But since you've flushed already this doesn't matter.

Here are some shots to let you know how she looks this week. You can see the damage in the shots with flash better, but the shots without flash show the true color of the buds and hairs more clearly.

As I've mentioned before, I am under a time constraint (one of the reasons I switched to 12/12 so early). Today, about 50% of the hairs had turned red, so I went for it.

I began by snipping growth away from the main stem to free the buds from the screen:
I pulled off fan leaves by hand, then trimmed close to the buds with scissors:
The clean buds I ended up with:
I hung the buds from the SCRoG screen in the computer case, turned off the lights, and left the fans running:
These are the cuttings. I don't plan on making hash... but I am trying to figure out how to dry it for when I want just a light smoke. Any ideas?

Leave it out for a day or two and stick it in a jar for a rainy day. Very nice buds by the way. great job, now lets get another rolling.

About half way through drying you will get a "green" smell kind of like grass but that will go away once dried and cured for a couple of days.
High rud! congrats! i been here the whole way...lol. as long as you got air flow, there is little chance for mold. You should have some decent smoke there, so enjoy. you can dry faster in a toaster oven, reg oven, or fruit dehydrator. there are also ways/threads on how to do it with a micowave...though i never tried that one..lol.

Thanks, guys. It looks like I'm on schedule now, but if things get desperate I could go for the oven dry (it won't come to that though).
I wonder how much I can get for this stuff. I am getting a scale after graduation to weigh the stuff out and sell to a couple guys I know. That cola is gonna have some good bag-appeal. I've never bought any stuff that had a nug that big... just the little baby ones. I guess that's the whole point of growing your own anyway.

Are you planning on getting another grow going RudieJ? You had alot of success with this one.
As for as pricing goes, 30/60 if you tell them it's bomb shit, and even more if you tell them you grew it yourself.
