Hi Rick, TBH i haven't followed it all that closely, so i wouldn't claim to know everything that has gone on, but i can understand that business is business and they evolve, they have to attract investors. A lot of big business, pharma and ag. included, are indeed quite evil... but i wonder if Phylos themselves are being pre-judged and thought the worst of due to the actions of other, bigger companies, and growers/breeders understandable suspicion as cannabis goes through legalisation.
I think it is right and proper that they are scrutinised and made to account for themselves, but also treated fairly and not presumed evil just because bigger firms are that way. the disclaimer sounds dodgy but it is there for all to read and not that unusual.
The galaxy thing is kind of a gimmick but a good one that would obviously attract interest from growers and enthusiasts.
Them undertaking or collaborating in breeding projects seems a pretty obvious direction for them to go, i'm not sure they flat out said that they wouldn't do that or whether they just didn't say that they would?
Anyway, all i would say is that people should not judge a company by the actions of other companies, indeed by continuing to engage with phylos and hold them to account, this company MIGHT end up being an ally and protector to the IP of the small grower just as it might sell them all out. By treating them unfairly or blaming them for things they haven't yet done, they may get pushed away which could end up worse.
Sometimes, for progress and breakthroughs to be made, you have to trust people. Being suspicious of everyone is a reasonable stance in many ways, but whilst it my protect you from being ripped off, it may also stand in the way of progress.
VG
