Philips 315w CDM Elite (CMH)

what bulb are you guys flowering under? My last run wasnt as dense as I would like. I am wondering if the philiips bulb i got with the sum system was the reason.

Which one are you running Lumberjack? 930 or 942? What size space? 40 wpsf is what's recommended with these. Are you above or below that? How far is your lamp from the canopy? Oh, what strain and how much veg time? Waiting on mine to arrive. Went with the Phantom reflectors only. Philips/Advance ballasts. 942 bulbs. 2 setups.

I chickened out on the bare bulb vertical with these for now because this is a brand new garden and it's all from seed. Need proven tech cuz the beans set me back a grip and I don't wanna come up short.

Sorry, I did not get any specific information, and I don't know if they are just being cagey, or I have to ask a super specific question in order to get a reasonable answer. I had only asked if my specific type/length cable could be used, and I lost motivation (before they even replied) to dig further.

Do you have the email address that they give you when your issue goes over the techs heads? It has "rosemont", or something similar, in it. I can post it if anyone wants.

Dank Whisperer, I'd take that email addy, if you want me to try and get to the bottom of this.

Definitely give your bulbs a dab at the tip (huh huh huh) if you go phantom. giving mine a dip helped loads. Don't have a pic and can't upload one for a few days, but picture a dime sized dollup and that should be about right. I used the product I linked a few pages back.

What product is that? I hunted around and never found what you are talking about... thanks, Chef.

Is everyone in agreement that vertical bulbs benefit from having the tip painted, even in reflectors? Doesn't sound too difficult. Just checking.

I may be getting my order for Phantom kits in soon if expensive shit would just stop happening in my life. Can't wait to switch over.

Hey lumberjack: you say you are seeing less density. Compared to what? Is this a strain you've run before with better results, and if so, under what kind of lights? Any other factors that might play into it?

It is heat resistant aluminium paint like what's used to paint headers. The stuff in the link a few pages back was about +-50$...I found an 8oz can on eBay for 20$ shipped.

It just creates a hotspot, its not Dr. Evil Space Laser time or anything like that without the paint on the tip in vertical orientation. On the greenbeam it removes that hotspot for a very uniform spread.

im embarrassed to say i dont know what bulb it is. whatever came in my sun system... thats probably a good place to start looking. its gg4 that I ran in a similar system under 600s at my old house.
I have 2 315s in a 4*4 over 3 plants that were vegged for 6 weeks or better.

do you start counting from first transplant? from first root? or from cut?

I'd count veg time from date of transplant (day 1 of veg). 2 315's should cover ~18 square feet. You're at 16 in a 4x4 so you should be good there. I'd check lamp distance from canopy and bring them down until you notice light bleaching, then back off 4-6 inches. Got a light meter?

any updated consensus of sunsystems grow beast fixture? i want to find a more efficient lighting option for flower, currently running 4 860's over 2 3x6 trays.. is my understanding correct, with the standard MH 1000w magnetic ballast running these 860w bulbs it's actually delivering 1000w watts to them? overdriving them with an extra 140 watts?

has anyone toyed with the 860 cdm enough to paint them or are all the personal accounts with the argo t12 vertical positioned cdms? if the hot spots are related to the vertical burn positioning of the bulb rather than the bulb itself (860's cdm have the extra encasing inside the bulb) i may have to give it a whirl.

Whoa! Almost 100 w/sqft. Can you spread those suckers out to cover a 4x4 area each?

dont have the room cheffy, its either drop 2 and add some 315's or go will all 315's (which was the original plan but didn't have the extra loot) ill post a shot here in a min

Don't order from horticulturesource. They will send the light in the vendor box. BIG PICTURE right on the front Phantom reflector... I'm 215/420 compliant. I don't appreciate the advertisement. This is the 1st place that has ever done this.

pretty sure horticulturesource drop ships most everything from the wholesaler. so they dont have any actual inventory, hence the low prices.

Regarding the Philips IZTMH-210315-R-LF and ballast to lamp distance.

Thank you for choosing Philips Lighting.

Our Product Manager has reviewed your inquiry and has provided the following response:

In late 2013 the igniter circuit was changed. The max wire capacitance is now 120 Pico farads, or approx. 6 ft. / 2 m.

If you are in need of further assistance, please reply to this e-mail or contact our Philips Lighting Customer Care Team at 1-800-372-3331.

Sincerely,

Customer Care Associate
Philips Lighting North America

So the ballasts with a date code of 13XXX, with XXX being a low number can be used remote. However the ballasts since late 2013 can not. And again the date code is found stamped on the ballast case on the lead end.

My apologies for being confused on the issue and spending so much time on it.
