They do grow a lot during transition, that is yes they get tall. How soon your friend should flip to 12/12 depends on how many he has and on what space amongst other factors. With only 1 week veg and topped he would need a lot of them to fill a 1kw space. Would be easier to advise if you can post a pic.

I would say it depend on the pheno. The "red" strech is moderate and the "green" can be wild. I grew a panama green indoor (~2012) who stretched like mad and reached the roof of my 2meter tent (topped once). This was quite extreme because of a lack of light in the growbox i guess (250w led+ 110w t5 neon, uv cfl bulbs).
With 1k hps, your friend shouldnt be worried..

ah yes sorry it's 1,2m tent so not too big.It is 2,2m high tho. usually sog with 9 plants but now only 4 survived.. also heat from hps is problem so they can't stretch too much will have to lst shit out of them. And prolly will have to dim to 600w or something later in flowering if the buds get too big :D. Maybe a week more veg and then it'll be good.. It's only 4 plants so there is room to bondage..they are 10days in nft month alive from germinating..

yeah that mad stretch must've been because lack of the light :) my first run was nightmarish stretching too hehe

Some awesome pics on the last page guys. I need to get myself a camera that doesn't have location data.

I got 10 females from my 12 pack of Panama. I flowered #'s 1, 2, 3, 5, 8 and 10 last time. I kept #5 and and it is in week 8 on the second rum, along with #6, 7 and 9 as well as two Tikal freebies (I ditched #4 as it was the slowest to root). Panama #5 was the best herb I've grown. #9 is shaping up to rival her and has a very lemony sent, as opposed to the complex fizzy fruits/Insense/pine/mint flavour of #5. Looking forward to harvest!

Thank you ace/dubi, I love this girl.

I need to pop a few of these those pink hairs got me at first sight! I got some nugs a long time ago from a BC native indian dude that had a friend in Norcal, a lady, that called a strain "Pinky". Looked exactly like this I think its the same. I have a 10 pack in the fridge!

my panama turned out great this year. i had 3 out to start with but only ended up with one by time the ground hog had his way with mine.i like this strain alot!awesome yeilder, it handled the drought pretty good compared to my bangi haze which suffered badly. this smoke is powerful with a lemony/lime flavor. we had a perfect season as far as mother nature as she gave us full sun and no rain in the last 30 days,so i cant really say how well the mold resistance is on this one this year. i will be growing it again next year as well tho.here is the plant right before i pulled it and a couple top bud shots once i got home and got it in the sun and trimmed a bit. well done with this one Dubi & Ace.
