I used Roots Organic Soil and added worm castings to the soil. Did not use any nutes in VEG, and used a little cal/mag and bloom nutes weeks 3-4 only. Afterwards just gave her water..
with low temps and low phosphorus and you can get natural purple-red colors. if the color is inherent of genetics - you'll get fantastic colors
btw my 2/5 of panamas and 1/3 of congo was absolutely purple in 30-40C
my last harv. of panama (fem)
I am having a lot of bad luck with the Panamas for no reason.
They keep yellowing for no reason, while my other plants are fine and healthy as can be which are Malawi, and a pck. I am growing organic.
From six seeds one didn't pop, two have stopped growing, one is growing very slowly, while one is extremely vigorous and taller that I suspect is a male.
Hopefully this last one that is smaller and growing ok ends up being female.
Here's two panamas I have running right now which are about a week or two out from finishing off. These plants are a home made F2 of panama beans from my second round of panama which wasn't big on flowers like my first run, these plants seemed more interested in frost.
Holy fuck, that was an adventure. Took 7 days to get thru, but just read these 111 pages cover to cover. All I can say is, wow. I haven't been this excited to try out a new strain in a looooooooong time. I am so used to all the modern stuff - ogs, kushes, and hybrids, I can't even fathom what it will be like. Anywho, I now fill more confident about what to look for, expect, and handle with these lovely ladies. I doubt I will get to flower them outdoors, as I am at 48 degrees north, with a cold wet climate. (Oregon) but I have ample indoor space to play with, and find me a nice male to cross to some of my favorite local outdoor strains.
Anyway, much respect to you fellas over at ACE for the hard work, dedication, and efforts.
Can't wait for my package to arrive and planted!!
Hi Irotas,
Panama accepts very well the fertilizers, you can feed her like other modern hybrids.
What are your growing conditions ? Soil, hydro ? How is the ec and ph in your water ? What kind of fertilizers are you using ?
Welcome Paynefarms,
I'm glad you enjoyed Malawi
I'm sure you will enjoy Panama too!
44ºN is a bit on the limit for Panama, but many growers have finished Panama correctly in cold continental climates at your latitude. If there are no frosts in October then you should be able to finish her correctly.
Anyway, if you have doubts you can always grow them indoors, Panama works great under artificial lights, just let them grow and branch enough from seed to get a high yield.
Best wishes!
typo- Im at 44 degrees north not 48
I am curious as to whether you guys who run your Panama under HPS get pink/red/magenta pistils at all? I have 6 plants flowering under CMH and was pleasantly surprised to see quite a few pistils on two of the plants turning a nice colour somewhere between maroon and magenta as they were coming towards the end of week 5 of 12/12.
