I used Roots Organic Soil and added worm castings to the soil. Did not use any nutes in VEG, and used a little cal/mag and bloom nutes weeks 3-4 only. Afterwards just gave her water..

with low temps and low phosphorus and you can get natural purple-red colors. if the color is inherent of genetics - you'll get fantastic colors
btw my 2/5 of panamas and 1/3 of congo was absolutely purple in 30-40C :)
my last harv. of panama (fem)

That look a mighty craz booooyyyy E!

Here's two panamas I have running right now which are about a week or two out from finishing off. These plants are a home made F2 of panama beans from my second round of panama which wasn't big on flowers like my first run, these plants seemed more interested in frost.

The first one I took pics of last month, it smells like electric blue, lemons and incense. Electric blue is probably best described as lemon-pepper, but there are blue-ish fuel / cleaner notes in there.

The second one is a trifoliate runt I decided to let live which hasn't put on any size, but seems happy enough. It has a warmer, pink-magenta berryish smell. Its a dead ringer for Flintstones vitamins from my childhood - but still has a hint of that lemon "electric blue" incense and cleaner smell that I'm starting to expect from the frostier panamas.

After growing for 6 years, I finally caught the sativa bug...I have grown many hybrids of sativa, but prob the most sativa I have ever grown is stuff like blue dream. Got some Malawi from a fellow grower he grew, and was mind blowing. He recommended it and the panama from ace, so went ahead and got a 10 pack of panama regs and a 5 pack of malawi and got some freebie golden tiger. Will be posting pics as I go!

Holy fuck, that was an adventure. Took 7 days to get thru, but just read these 111 pages cover to cover. All I can say is, wow. I haven't been this excited to try out a new strain in a looooooooong time. I am so used to all the modern stuff - ogs, kushes, and hybrids, I can't even fathom what it will be like. Anywho, I now fill more confident about what to look for, expect, and handle with these lovely ladies. I doubt I will get to flower them outdoors, as I am at 48 degrees north, with a cold wet climate. (Oregon) but I have ample indoor space to play with, and find me a nice male to cross to some of my favorite local outdoor strains.

Anyway, much respect to you fellas over at ACE for the hard work, dedication, and efforts.

Can't wait for my package to arrive and planted!!

I am having a lot of bad luck with the Panamas for no reason.

They keep yellowing for no reason, while my other plants are fine and healthy as can be which are Malawi, and a pck. I am growing organic.

From six seeds one didn't pop, two have stopped growing, one is growing very slowly, while one is extremely vigorous and taller that I suspect is a male.

Hopefully this last one that is smaller and growing ok ends up being female.

Hi Irotas,

Panama accepts very well the fertilizers, you can feed her like other modern hybrids.

What are your growing conditions ? Soil, hydro ? How is the ec and ph in your water ? What kind of fertilizers are you using ?

Yeah, very resinous indeed Terpene,

Looks like you have produced a very interesting new Panama generation!

The first one looks excellent, compact and fast flowering.
Thanks for share it! :)

Welcome Paynefarms,

I'm glad you enjoyed Malawi :)
I'm sure you will enjoy Panama too!

44ºN is a bit on the limit for Panama, but many growers have finished Panama correctly in cold continental climates at your latitude. If there are no frosts in October then you should be able to finish her correctly.

Anyway, if you have doubts you can always grow them indoors, Panama works great under artificial lights, just let them grow and branch enough from seed to get a high yield.

Best wishes!

I just started reading this thread, and read the first few and last few pages...

Dubi, I guess these are your seeds?
I'm old enough to remember smoking "Panama Red", along with some awesome Columbians and Mexicans and Jamaicans back in the very early 70's...Such a shame that I threw away hundreds, if not many tens of thousands of viable seeds back in those days..

Dubi: a good friend of mine is going to be sending me several of your fem Panama seeds next week.. I will be growing them outdoors in well cared for grow holes...
If you visit my homepage and album, you will see I have at least a little experience in outdoor growing..

My question is this, what can I expect from your Panama seeds at 36N latitude, in the hot, humid south of the U.S.?
I would love to end up with something reminiscent of the pot I smoked back then, while traveling around the back woods and hills of the Caribbean and central America...

Any response to my questions, thru a comment or message to me would be greatly appreciated! Thanks....

Hi Dubi, I am growing in soil with a compost, topsoil, and perlite/lavarock mix. I try to keep the ph around 7.

I think the problem may have been rootrot, and nutrient deficiency because water was standing at the bottom of the pots, that combined with them needing a transplant caused a lot of problems. They did green up after feeding more, and transplanting a few days after. Thank you, and thanks for this strain.

Can anyone tell me how long the stretch goes on for with Panama? I put clones that had just rooted into flower 3.5 weeks ago. They have spent a week and a half in 0.5L pots and another 2 weeks in 1.5L pots. The tallest plant is now at 70cm. 90cm is as tall as I can grow in my cabinet. Just wondering when it will be safe to put them into bigger pots? Hopefully I don't need to bend them over. No big deal I suppose but I like the aesthetics of seeing them all shooting straight up together.

thanks for the awesome reply. I definitely will be growing the panama indoors under 10k watts, and due to plant counts, I run my plants on the large side, scrogged, so i suspect the panama will be very well suited for that style.

Dark leaf Panama about 35 days since the first pistils popped out. Super frosty girl that just got a light dusting from my Tikal "Kush" pheno male. I can't wait to try the smoke from this and pop the seeds later in the year.

I am curious as to whether you guys who run your Panama under HPS get pink/red/magenta pistils at all? I have 6 plants flowering under CMH and was pleasantly surprised to see quite a few pistils on two of the plants turning a nice colour somewhere between maroon and magenta as they were coming towards the end of week 5 of 12/12.
