Question for Dubi: I want to make F2s from Panama breeders pack. Would you recommend open pollinating all 3 lots together, or each lot separately? Much love and respect!

just popped some of my panama X purple erkle i made a few years back, if they turn out anything like the panama goo i will be happy!

Hello there, not wrong as any/all classic bud from back in the day was not treated and cured like someone could on their own. All the smuggled weed was compacted and bricked/baled, the conditions in packaging and transit degraded the quality certainly. Still was great to smoke then , but it would have been a whole different level with
fresh sample at the source. I guess my "badly cured" came across to you as it was bad herb, which was not my intent.

My friend back in the day lived on the Texas border and would bring back a trunk of bricks and one cardboard box of well cured primo, it let him know that he wasn't the decoy and they did know how to do it right when it came to personal stash

Hey all...quick question - I think I have recent (last two years) Pam Fem plant going. It is now around 76 days. Pink variety - although much of the pink is morphing to brown. The buds are dense asymmetrical blobs of goodness. So - I typically let Panama go about 84 days but I have read that the newer Panama fem red/pink phenos may be a bit shorter. I'm interested in how long the rest of you have typically let the red fem phenos go? The full twelve weeks? Longer? Shorter? What do/did you look for regarding the harvest date?

The harvest is invariably the most difficult time for me as there are so many different ways to approach it. Thanks for your input.

Hi mayan,

Sorry, i missed your question but hopefully the reply helps for the future.

The pink Panama pheno can be harvested after 10-11 weeks of flowering, but the potency and resin production are much stronger if you let her go up to 12 weeks as you did ;)
This pheno usually has a very strong, deep and dense red colombian effect, and complex lemony aromas.

Hey Dubi, Thanks for your posts and hard work. I have 3 panama's in veg right now. I'm doing 13 on 11 off. I will be flowering at 11 on 13 off. I'm using these light cycles after reading some articles from DJ Short on sativa's. The 3 have some what broader leaves than I expected for a sativa. My one Oaxacan also has broader leaves too. The Zamaldelica's have narrow leaves one is a more spindly taller (stretchy) plant. For the Panama plants is this a characteristic for a genotype? I only started them Easter Sunday. It is Memorial weekend now. They are all about 14" and very strong right now. I use soil, worm castings and only fish emulsions for extra nutrients. (Alaskan brand) I'm not in a hurry 14 to 15 weeks is fine. Anything else I should be doing in your opinion? Room temps up to 85 deg. Ph of water and soil checked regularly 6.0 to 6.9 on average. 1,800 watts of HPS 4 small led for some extra color spectrum. Thank you for your time if you are able to reply.

Just flipped to flowering yesterday. The Zamaldelica and my skunks are definitely sativa. The Panama's and my Oaxacan are not pure sativa looking at all. Leaf color is lighter like I expected for an equatorial plant. The leaf structure and node spacing looks 40% plus Indica. I am going to keep the plants anyway. You never know how they will turn out or smoke like. This whole run is all about breeding and future seed stock. I have a few more seeds for next years grow and may get some more panama genetics. The plants I have now from Ace are very healthy. I may post some pictures as they get a few weeks into flowering. I am better at plants than I am at posting. See what happens? Peace

Hi farmerlion,

Panama has been bred and tamed for many generations, and nowadays it displays a more robust appearance, with wider darker leaf. It also displays better adaptability to indoor growing than in earlier generations, but its genotype remains the same: a hybrid of different panamian sativas.

You will find more evidently the original sativa traits in the flowering.

Zamaldelica it's a more recent breed and has not been tamed so much like Panama, displaying more evidently the typical thin leaved and light color of the tropical sativas.

Wish you a healthy and successful grow! :)

Dubi, Thank you very much for the reply. They are very healthy! I'm looking forward to this grow. Out of 42 plants about half were feminized seeds. I ended up with only 2 males. (sad) My one Ganesh I had outside and he ended up with a bunch of aphids. My only other male was a Skunkage from TH Seeds. It is a nice male but I am less than impressed with their genetics over all. I expected much healthier plants (vigor). My own hybrids (regular seeds only) are all female. I wanted a seed run this go around. I don't know that I want to cross these with skunkage or cross it with mine. I was really hoping for a Panama male or a Zamaldelica. I guess I could have all sinsemilla. I don't smoke so I feel this is an advantage for me as I'm not in a hurry, cut corners for grow, harvest, curing. Any thoughts? I did cut the top 1' off of the Ganesh and smash the couple aphids that were up that high. I have it in a glass of water trying to prolong my decision time for a father plant. (Skunk or Ganesh)

Been lurking for a while but been meaning to fill you in on my Panama adventure. I recently finished a couple Panamas. Amazing plants, the most fun I've had growing in a while.

Took them just 10 weeks in flower and they were covered top to bottom in sugary THC goodness. Everyone loved it and called dibs on the next plants.

The spurt after I went to 12/12 was amazing. This is one I regret not flipping sooner I had her tied and bent just to keep her under the lights. And apparently I did not learn since I now have another that exploded after the flip even more than the last ones, and had to get creative with the string.

Mad props to the ACE guys... PANAMA rocks. Have 3 in the "assembly" line now and they are looking good as well . Just got some CONGO seeds, and stoked about them too.

ACE seeds kick ass. Peace :)

Welcome bhamthunder :)

I'm glad you enjoyed growing Panama, it's without any doubt a highly worked sativa with many desirable traits: potency, vigour, resin production, complex effect and terpene profile, high yield, great indoor adaptability .... some phenos can be harvested early in 10 weeks, although 1-2 weeks extra of maturation provides much more resin production, resined and more solid flowers. Thanks for your feedback!
