Brad, thanks man! Yeah, that bud is a beauty GG#3. I didn't use it for breeding because it seemed small and more sativa than normal for GG#3. However, after I saw all that resin, I kinda wish I bred with that one too.
Gunnarguchi, yes, esbe has already made Guerilla Gold x Danish Passion. I grew this cross this year and you can see the dry bud pics above and also the plant shots throughout this thread. The dry bud pics don't really do it justice, but I'll try to get a good shot at some point. It's very frosty and has very nice potency. I really love the smell and taste. It also finishes consistently early by mid September (about two weeks later than pure GG).
Check out unleashdagreen.net for info about my strains and that's where you can get the beans as well.
zappa, I'm glad to hear you are going to give the GG crosses a go this year. I would also highly recommend a pure GG like the GG#5 or the GG#3 that will be available within a week. You will be impressed! As for the congo x GG, my plants were not in the best location and were planted close together, so my yields were a little low compared to the others. However, I've seen others get about 3 to 4 ounces from one plant. The best thing about that cross is that it is a potent sativa dominant plant that finishes even in a short-seasoned climate like mine.
4lifeman, check out that site I mentioned above and register there to find out how.
Sevenseeds, thank you! Yeah, I think you should try the GG!
Yeah, esbe, the GG x Danish Passion turned out to be just awesome! Those strains definetely compliment each other. I find the smell to be just mouth-watering and it is very potent with an excellent uplifting high. Keep that one going!
Johnyhash, that is awesome to hear man! You got started a little early though. lol. I guess you are doing some of your own breeding with them before next spring?
ya greens your right on about the breeding. I plan cross the gg with a more than a couple of my favorite plants. I also am going to make moms of gg and manitoba medicine, but I have to flower them out inside so I can select my favorite phenos. I want to put out clones veging on 24/0 in mid to early may and harvest early mid july. I know you dont like the pregrowing but I like to grow only the best phenos, and be able to chop down a plot in one trip. I want to fill all the plots with gg#2 harvest, and fill em up with my other strains after for a double banger.
The breeding idea sounds good johny. Selecting the best pheno indoors might not necessarily perform the best outdoors, however. Indoors, GG doesn't necessarily shine in my opinion and I've had phenos that didn't turn out very good indoors turn out great outdoors. GG is an awesome strain to cross with others in order to get them to finish faster and be hardier outdoors.
About your plan on putting clones out early to mid may and harvesting early to mid july, I think you are being a little optimistic. Like I said in that thread about starting them earlier, that doesn't necessarily mean they will finish earlier. If they begin to flower before the summer solstice, the flowering period will be prolonged because the days are still getting longer.
Anyway, good luck with your breeding plans. It's great to have your own stock of seed on hand. That way you can sow your seeds directly outside and then you don't have to transport a bunch of plants. You gotta pull the males, but I think it's worth it.
Hey greens thanks for the advice. I know the plants dont grow the same at all indoors, but it gives me an idea of the flavor and resin content. Over the years I have gotten very tired of finnishing times all over the place fifty different strains, and mixed grades. With clones i can eliminate all that. It just means less trips in the end to the guerilla gardens, less baiting out your spot. I love seeds dont get me wrong. I think im just a picky bastard when it comes to my erb, its the whole reason I grew in the first place to have some next level smoke. My area is full of thieves, so its in my game plan to fill plots with one strain or two that finnish at the same time like my rhino low and timewarp f5 so I can take it all down in one trip and disguise it for next year so its not discovered by rippers... grow patches that last years are a precious commodity. I read in this thread that you harvested some gg#2 in late july that was planted june1st or so. 7-8 weeks from seed is amazing. How long do you think it would take clones of a gg#2 indica pheno and clones of a manitoba medicine indica pheno to finnish if put out early may, In southern Canada. They will be vegged 24/0 to induce imediate flowering when put out. I have had success putting plants out may 8th in my area all though it depends on the season. Also you say the flowering will be prolonged, have you experienced this? and will it attribute leafy fluffy bud structure?? Your freezeland x gg looks really dank. Any beans of this stuff available? thanks for taking the time greens, peace.
Johny.
rhino low x low beans. I havent popped any of these i figure the gg could do the same thing but with better potency.
How would the GG's fare in the UK? Are they prone to mould? Would love to grow out some of these beans, your pics are some of the best Ive seen of outdoor bud
It sounds like you have a good plan. The only thing is that it will be hard to select the most resinous and best smelling phenos because some of the plants that would be amazing outdoors wouldn't really show their best traits when grown indoors. However, I'm sure you'll do fine if you select some resinous stinky plants grown inside.
Yeah, I had a couple GG#2s finish in like 2 months, but that is definetely not the norm. I believe I harvested most of the GG2s about 3 months after planting. Even if you grew a bunch of these seeds out, you could basically just come at the end of August and harvest pretty much all of them (a couple might be overdone, but who cares right?).
If you do start them early may, then flowering will likely be prolonged. I know this because I've seen other people's grows where they started the GGs earlier. Lavatera put a grow log up at unleashdagreen.net and he started some GG late April. They did not finish a month earlier than plants started a month later, so flowering was clearly prolonged because the days were getting longer while they were budding. However, it finished maybe about 2 weeks earlier, so that gives you a bit of an idea. No, the freeze x GG isn't available, but the Manitoba Meds is (Freeze x GG2) x GG2 and the Manitoba Meds#2 is (Freeze x GG2) x GG3.
mitymoocow, yeah, GG has done well in the UK and many other places in Europe. Just find a sunny location to plant them because I know you don't get nearly as much sun as we do over here in the summer. GG is quite mold/rot resistant, especially GG#3, so check it out. Seeded GG plants are more likely to rot, but if its sensimilla they won't rot.
ey greens im out in california and i need some advice, and people seem to think ur the man to turn to. I gona be getting back home mid summer this year and im lookin for an autoflower that will able to harvest in like 3/4 months to avoid the worst of the rain. wat would u suggest? Thanks man
really amazing greens... i really love your plants... and canada too, i always feel some touch of something strange or mystic when i hear names of many of your cities or towns or provinces (the same for US, but i dont like their government, so its not as good as canada )
Hi Greens well done, great job.Your strains look amaizing!
I was growing for years so many strains in eastern europe ,it's realy dificult to find the strain which fully finish by august and will have same buds with same amount of crystals.Maybe you know how I could get them seeds, cheers
bayarea, my quickest strain is the Guerilla Gold #2. The GG#3 and GG#5 are also very fast too, just a week or two longer.
berrea, thanks. Yeah, many of the names of cities and provinces are actually Aboriginal words in Canada, like the word Canada itself and Manitoba, Winnipeg, and Ottawa.
zalias, thank you! Guerilla Gold is an excellent early strain and you can find my stuff at unleashdagreen.net if you are interested. It's a good site where you can find out lots of good info about growing outdoors or indoors.
I'll be growing in a combo of swamp tubes and in ground next season with yours and some of breederbrad's gear. I'm thinking the GG#3 and GG#5 is best for SOG growing in the rubbermaids, and stick the CongoxGG and GGxC99 in the holes. I'm not sure what to do with the Manitoba Medicine #2. Do you think it lends itself to single plants or SOG better?
Just been reading through your 2007 grow, some great photos that year, this one I loved, like a wall of weed
Great show 2008, cant wait to get my GG#3, GG#5 and Meds in the ground come Spring. What nutes would you reccomend for a large grow that I could maybe topdress with? I thought about trying AN heavy harvest timed release although seems a little on the strong side (spring 25-9-7, summer 17-17-17 and Fall 10-20-20)
With the GG not growing above 4ft and having a shorter growth cycle not sure these will be suitable. Any ideas? Ideally I only want to feed 2-3 times through out the grow...
Also, any chance of a heads up on what seeds you'll be sowing 2009?
Keep doing what you doing Greens and good luck this year, whatever you get in the ground
