Glad to see you heading the end of flowering with such good results marijuaman (y) Sounds like both the earthy VB terps and the sweet creamy side of China Yunnan are loud in your Orient Express plant. Depends on grower's taste, but i would harvest soon if you ask me, in approx 1 week.

Buona sera Ace, buona serata Dubi come va?

I currently have 2 Orient Express going in a tent. One shorter heavier looking pheno and a much taller and more branchy pheno.
Initially the now taller one was staying shorter than everything else in the tent, then suddenly exploded after week 2 of 12/12 and is now the tallest in there.
Really excited to try these, they’re growing beautifully so far though the back one is starting to fade a little early.

Nice to see you growing some Orient Express Cactus Squatter :)
Looks like you got a sativa dom and a more indica dom. Don't be shy with the feeding since Orient Express usually requires lots of nutrients during flowering.
Yeah, I noticed the indica dominant wants more food than I planned on it needing initially so I’ve been bumping it up a little.
The sativa dominant is doing amazing so far. A tiny touch of calcium hunger but so far extremely easy to grow and struggle free.

I can’t describe the smell the sativa dominant one has. It’s very unique. I haven’t been able to smell the indica dominant one due to where it is in my tent so I’m not sure if they share smells.

The top picture is my Orient Express #1 female plant. The second picture is my #2 Orient Express female plant. They are just starting flowering right now. They are both very uniform ladies, from an early feminized pack of seeds. I'm guessing they are a decade old or so. It goes without saying the quality of Ace genetics, yes I do have a separate refrigerator for genetics to be kept in, that helps a lot for preservation.

The bottom picture is a combination of a double planted 35 gallon grow bag China Yunnan. Both are females and smaller skinnier plants. I'm not a fan of double plants in a small bags. I need more 45 gallon grow bags, they work so nice double planted. The plants further to the right are two Lebanese females single planted in 35 gallon grow bags. These plants are going to have 3' and 4' long buds of incredible beauty.

They will be very similar to the plants on the Ace website. Some of those pictures are from my greenhouse. Dubi I can't thank you enough for your kindness to me over all these years. This is my first time having your Orient Express in my greenhouse, previously I had grown them inside. Such beautiful plants, I will explain my breeding/hybrid goals in a later post. Mostly Ace genetics as parental donors.
The last picture is just a shot in the door.

Well, my indica pheno yielded 4.8oz and the Sativa pheno yielded 6.4oz.
The indica pheno is a little spicier spelling, but they both have the same over all smell. Very organic and fresh smelling, not really earthy but I can’t really describe it. Definitely a unique smell. Very excited to see how it tastes and smokes as well as how it does in edibles.

Super easy to trim, had the tiniest bit of bud mold in the main cola of the Sat pheno but it had just barely started and was easily cut out. Zero mold in the indica pheno.

Hello friends, Here's my Orient Express plants this morning. They are both starting to flower, no buds yet to show. I didn't do a stem rub for the current aromatics. In the last week I had numerous plants go male. My largest percentage to date. 13 males out of 25 total plants, that's not abnormal at all, I'd just been really blessed with a high female ratios in the past.

The only thing I changed was the amount of Leonardite that I worked into the soil this spring. It's possible that the higher ratios of Humic and Fulvic Acids can influence the gender ratio?, but this is purely speculative on my part??? I have zero data to back up this thought, it's just my observation of circumstances.

I will post again when they are further into flowering. Like seedlings, plants are plants until they are doing something. These plants are very homogeneous, could easily pass as clones from the same mother plant. I do plan on making seed with one or both of these plants. It's getting late enough in the year that seed maturity is becoming a concern.

Last year we/I had a beautiful October in the 50's most days. That would really be a blessing this season. I'm not as concerned with total bud made as I am about the seed harvest. If my pollen is viable earlier onset of flowering will be my reward from this years females going forward.
(Chocolope, CherryBomb Hawaiian, Blue Thai, Destroyer, China Yunnan purple sativa phenotype and these two Orient Express).

Curing for about 2 months now. Smells earthy with a sweet minty zing.

The high is very clear and energetic. Effects were quite racy at first, but it mellowed out a lot after 1+ month in the jar. Now it’s very uplifting and clear, but without any edginess or anxiety. This has been an ideal daytime smoke for me since it doesn’t leave me hazy after the effects wear off. A real pleasure!

Thank you very much @marijuaman for coming with your smoke report after curing :thank you:
Very happy to hear OE is uplifting your days with its clear, cerebral energetic Vietnamese sativa effects, without bringing nervous or anxious feelings, faithful to its personality and strain description after 20 years since it was conceived. Enjoy!

Congrats on your harvest @Cactus Squatter ! Glad you found interesting and different the terpene profile of the strain.
the The main cola of the sativa pheno was really big o_O looked a lot like our Vietnam Black mother.
Hope you find the smoke pleasant and interesting as well, let us know your opinion when you feel like.

Thanks for including Orient Express into your this year greenhouse grow @farmerlion ! Very healthy plants as always! How is September doing ?

@dubi thank you for your work with these genetics. It’s showing me such a different type of effect I never expected from cannabis!

In your experience how long can these buds maintain quality and effects in jars before degrading? It yielded so much that it could last many months for my rate of consumption

I’ve been trying so hard to stay out of it and let it cure for a while, but the smell… Omfg the smell of both phenos is incredible. It’s very similar initially but the Indica pheno has a much more skunky smell. Just an amazing weed kind of smell I can’t stay out of.
Both phenos are fairly similar feeling right now. Very relaxing, chill and super comfortable. The sativa leaner has more of a social vibe too it. Both have been great for just kicking back and listening to good music.

I can definitely tell you that Orient express is 100% always going to be in my cabinet. Smell, taste and effect are all super pleasant.
One of the easiest plants I’ve grown as well.

Thanks a lot @marijuaman and @Cactus Squatter :huggg:your feedback is really touching and meaningful to me.

marijuaman, i would say OE buds gradually start to lose their qualities after approx 4 months of curing, reaching their peak around 2nd-3rd month of curing.

Hi all,

Hope you all are doing well.

This year I took the chance of growing an Orient express. I am not sure if the smell of It but is some kind of earthy smell but nothing I can compare with other strains or smells.

I think It has been in flowering for the last 6 to 7 weeks but I am not sure how long more It might need till being harvested. In my opinion It is about two to three weeks to finish, but not sure on how yo harvest this strains. Not sure if It is more china or Vietnam but would say It is un the middle. Not too wide not too lanki. As said, the smell is not something I am able to describe but probably earth and ferments.

Here some pictures from the begining of september.

I would like to add that this is not the first time I Grow a plant but I have always tought I dont usually wait enough for them and take them too early (un a normal harvest I would wait one to two weeks more) and this year I would like to know when It is ready. Have a microscope but I never got to see any cloudy trich but amber and transparente, so not able to harvest bases on that. Would you say It is more than two weeks to go?

Thanks in advance
