I will I'm pretty sure it will work out great. Has anyone ever used organic Cricket crap. I found some and would rather use it instead of bat guano. Pretty lame video lol

Hey Hammerhead! That's a good idea. I searched for "cricket manure" and this came back: http://www.cricketpoo.com/

Hahaha. It looks pretty good though, NPK of 4-2-2. Could be a good replacement for high N guano.

Also, I don't really trust AN whatsoever. They have moved their production to China, and I don't really trust anything from China. However, I've never used it and some people swear by the stuff. I have achieved amazing results without spending big bucks on it. To each their own.

I have used Plant Success with some pretty good results. Still pretty expensive, and I'm working on creating my own mycorrhizae. There were even mushrooms popping up in the comfrey bed too!!!

hi everyone.

for recipe #4 would it be ok to use LC mix with peat, perlite, and EWC, instead of the recycled soil/ ewc ratio that is suggested? If so, what kind of rates of dry nutes would be the correct ratio to 1cubic foot of soil instead of the 40 gallons of soil mix?

any help is appreciated. Thank You.

Oh,and PS, i chose this mix because i would like to start recycling my soil after this grow, and the 3LBS are experts on the subject, so i want to use their mix.

Goldfonts-
If it's your first mix of soil that you plan to recycle, use either of LC's mixes and recipe #1. That will prepare your mix for reuse and also give you a great grow.
Another thing about recycling your soil... Be extremely careful that you follow the recipes exactly. This is not the time to experiment. You could ruin your soil and your plants as well. Follow the directions so there are no unpleasant surprises.

Thanks B1.

I know you keep saying follow the recipes exactly, and not to substitue anything in each of the mixes, but would it be possible to sub the blood meal for alfalfa meal? I will buy the blood meal if I have no other choice, but I would like to use what i have already if possible.

Thanks for your help.

Also, after this first run, the soil that i have can be recycled using recipe #4?

Yes and yes. Alfalfa meal is much better than dried blood IMO. However, most folks find it hard to get.
Reuse your mix using recipe #4 as directed.

My recipe is pretty much the same as #4 my compost pile is FFOF, FFLW and Sunshine mix#2, I add all the amendments and mix well and keep moist 2 weeks before I use it

It's quite normal for the lower fan leaves to die and fall off during flowering. As long as the top two thirds are healthy, I wouldn't worry about it.
Keep us posted.

Hello,

I am using the LC Mix #1 and the bone/blood/kelp amendments, mixed it all up about 4-5 weeks ago and mix it every few days , I have some clones that are just now showing roots in a DYI bubble cloner, can I plant the clones directly in the 'hot' mix, or should I cut the hot mix with some plain LC Mix#1? 50/50 maybe?

Also, can I still use guano teas #3 or Fish/Kelp for a boost when I start to flower? (use veg tea 1-2 times during first weeks of flower and then use flower tea 1-2 time during the flowering?)

Thanks!

Unam-
Welcome to IC.
You can cut the mix 50/50 and plant the clones in small nursery post or 16 oz. plastic cups with a couple of holes in the bottom until they get well rooted. Then go to the full strength mix in 3 gallon pots until harvest.
You can supplement with Recipe #3 if needed.
Keep us posted on your grow.

Quick question which is this: "According to what I've been able to figure out, 'soil mixes' are basically 50% peat (or coco coir) and 50% perlite (or pumice)"?

Does that sound about right? I'm asking if this is the 'basic soil' before you begin adding other items like compost/EWC, lime, et al.

Thanks for any input!

No, if you're using this recipe...

LC’s Soiless Mix #1:
5 parts Canadian Spaghnam Peat or Coir or Pro-Moss
3 parts perlite
2 parts wormcastings or mushroom compost or home made compost
Powdered (NOT PELLETIZED) dolomite lime @ 2 tablespoons per gallon or 1 cup per cubic foot of the soiless mix.

...then it amounts to

LC’s Soiless Mix #1:
50% Canadian Spaghnam Peat or Coir or Pro-Moss
30% perlite
20% wormcastings or mushroom compost or home made compost
Powdered (NOT PELLETIZED) dolomite lime @ 2 tablespoons per gallon or 1 cup per cubic foot of the soiless mix.

Whats up peoples, hey Burn. This thread is effin long, but packed with info. Thanks to everyone who keeps this community thriving. I got to page 7 then skipped up here.. I'll go back and read it all later. But first, some concerns with my first micro-grow that I would like to share. Ahem.

I couldn't find any powdered dolomite for some reason so I bought powdered oyster shells. I now realize that I will not be getting any mag from this product. I can return it and search for the dolomite, but i was wondering if there any good resources for just mag?

Also, I could not find any perlite that was not treated with plant food! (miracle grow) This was a slight upset being that I'm stressing the use of an all organic line..
I bought it any way hoping that I could rinse the plant food from the perlite by bubbling it for a day or two. think that will work? The n-p-k percentages are really low .04-.02-.02 will the plant food harm my plants in your recipes?

I'm using your coir mix #1 with the guano teas and liquid kelp. I'm growing in a Rubbermaid micro box and will be vegging a clone to be a mom soon. Just picked up my air stones, the clone is on its way this week, I'm ready to brew! (excited can you tell?)

Epsom Salts is a good source of magnesium.
The perlite is fine. Those ferts will be gone almost immediately.
