Dry And High

The microherd is really no different than any other living thing. They need a balanced diet and *air*. In their case a balance of N-P-K and trace elements. The seaweed you were wondering about supplies potassium or the "K" and micro nutes as B1 has stated. In fact there are some 60-70 trace elements in seaweed along with potassium and growth hormones ta boot. So it's great stuff for the micro critters...... The molasses provides carbohydrates in the form of a simple sugar. So it supplies energy. This kicks the micro critters inta high gear. Making the whole organic thing happen faster, and that in turn feeds yer plant more, quicker. In other words, it kicks ass! lol..... Witha healthy microherd yer plants have the extra added protection against adverse conditions, deceases and deficiencies that some other forms of growing don't. It's natures way of doin things, yer jus helpin it along! Good luck! and take care... BC

You can use it the first time you wet the mix. It won't hurt anything.

Try ta keep in mind, yer feeding the micro bacteria, not the plant itself. The micro critters eat it and break it down and that's what the plants feed on. This is the whole principle of organics. Happy healthy micro critters = happy healthy plants! BC

I am putting a mix together now, I am going to use the bone/blood/kelp regiment.

Is garden lime from HD garden center same thing? Where can I find blackstrap molasses?

hey burn, b.c, etc.

I picked up some pH down from the sauna/outdoor pond section at Home Depot. I'm not sure why I did because I'm using LC's mix w/ lime. I'm starting to think it's messing with my plants. The only thing it says on the bottle is 15% citric acid. Should I ditch it and start watering w/ my tap which comes out at 7.5? Should I have even been using any pH adjusters if I have the right amount of lime?

think I found the answer... this crossed my mind a few days ago..

DR. HERBAL-
Hydroponic pH up and down will kill the hell out of the much needed bacteria (microherd) in organic growing.

thats a pretty simple answer. no, you don't even need to check your ph during a grow that has been properly limed let alone trying to adjust it using ph up/down. stop using that stuff.

I'd like to throw my two pennies in and say that I haven't checked my PH in some time now, ( limed medium+humic/fulvic-acids+EWC&Mollasses teas= dusty PH pen),. It's not to say that I haven't had any issues or problems, it's just that I don't see the problems I AM now having to have anything to do with PH. But I am an extreme newbie so bear that in mind.

RECIPE #2
If you want to use guano in your soil mix...
Bongaloid's Guano Mix.
Use all these items combined with one gallon of soil mix.
1/3C hi N Guano (Mexican Bat Guano)
1/2C hi P Guano (Jamaican or Indonesian Bat Guano)
1TBS Jersey Greensand
1TBS Kelp Meal

Hello all! I'd like to use the above recipe, but I'd like to use 3-3-1 Chicken manure compost instead of the Guanos, but I need to make sure I'm doing the NPK conversion correctly. Please bare with me if my conversion formula is lacking.

OK, using NPKs on locally available Guano, High N Bat guano has a NPK of 10-3-1, high P Bat guano has a NPK of 3-10-1, Kelp meal 1-.02-2, and Greensand is 0-0-3.

So the recipe calls for 1/3 cup of 10-3-1 Guano, and I divide 10-3-1 by 3, I get 3.3-1-.3

The recipe calls for 1/2 cup of 3-10-1 Guano, and I divide that by 2, I get 1.5-5-.5

(I'll leave the Greensand and Kelp meal amounts as is.)

Now I add 3.3-1-.3 to 1.5-5-.5 and get 4.8-1.6-.8 total NPK per gallon of soil(excluding the K added by the Greensand/Kelp meal since I am not changing their additions).

If I add 1.5 cups of chicken manure insted of the Guanos, I get 4.5-4.5-1.5....... Am I doing my math right here? Sorry if my figures are just confusing................

Cascadia-
That's a tough one to call.
You're going to just have to try it for yourself. I'd say go with what you figured or a little less. Then supplement if you need to with chicken manure tea.

OK guys I need some advise here. I want 100% organic nutrients it does not need to be OMRI certified they have much tighter guidelines from what I have read. I just want organic. I have bought AN Iguana and was told it's Garbage. It is organic I have not used it yet but would like to. I'm not a newbie and can grow some difficult strains to completion. If it is garbage I want to know. I did allot of research before I bought this stuff and there was no negative threads about it. I did get a response from someone here(different thread) that told me it is garbage I would like to substantiate this claim if anyone can.
