Tutorial Organics for Beginners

Maybe I missed it but I don't see which recipe you're using for the food amendments. I have my own mix that includes Bone Meal, Blood Meal, Kelp Meal, Soft Rock Phosphate, Fishbone Meal, Crab Meal, Neem Seed Meal, Diatomaceous Earth, Alfalfa Meal, EWC, Espoma Garden-tone, Dolomite Lime. I generally let it condition around 6 weeks and it will build up some heat after a week or so and when it no longer produces heat for a few weeks I consider it usable. With these amendments it will produce a white web like layer on the top and confirms the bennies are working.

I do not use this mix for seedlings as it is way too strong and mix it half and half when transplanting the seedlings from solo cups to 1 gallon bags, the next transplant I use it full strength. This mix is pretty much a "water only" mix unless you've got long flowering Sativas. I generally water with Molasses water once during veg and 2 or 3 times during flower.

Ran a complete cycle using LC soil mix #1, amended with some azomite top dressed, nuted with the guano tea recipe dome perfectly, and some hydro enzyme and liquid karma 10cc every other watering. Strawberry Cough (seeds) and Amsterdamn skunk (clones). Everything turned out amazing! Got 13 oz dry weight per 1000 watt light. Thank you all for your information!

This cycle I'm running LSD and Train Wreck, a strong indica and a strong sativa. I believe I will yield more next cycle knowing a few more things. Really focusing on training and utilizing light.

Hey Mx628,
Just wondering do you recycle your mix once you have used it in a grow? And if so do you amend have amenities and let it set or what would you suggest or what would anyone suggest? Just trying to get some thought and ideas on how to recycling lc's mix once I have used it so that I can use it over and over again.

Have a look at this thread https://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=267388.

It probably contains all the information you could hope to have.

People say they recycle soil but i don't understand how they get all the roots out of their previous soil to use again. Start fresh, consistent every time.

They actually use the roots from old plants to aerate and keep microbe colonies intact by not disturbing the soil. The roots break down and provide food for microbes to feed plants. People who recycle often cut out the plant from the container and then plant the new plant in the hole. They get a soil test for $25 after each harvest and the test tells them how much or what to add back by top dressing the few top inches of soil.

I would suggest this thread. https://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?threadid=296052

He tells you everything you need to know and how to make all the fancy enzymes and teas. He'll help you too and answer questions.

I used to rotate my soil..being organic worms and natural processes took care of roots during the down time...I have also just mixed it up roots and all and replanted..with all the vermicompost and other stuff it does its own thing like its supposed to be...I tried enzymes and found no need...if my soil was chemmed up and not organic I would tho...hygrozyme wasn't cheap...recycled living soil rules

The 1/3 peat, 1/3 aeration, 1/3 compost/EWC is a great starting base. I'm mixing up Coots Mix as we speak; just need a smoke break.

Does anyone go to animal feed stores anymore? I got all my stuff at a nursery. Other than buildasoil, coast of Maine is good for east coasters.

Here's one Seafour shared. Has all sorts of stuff from compost to soil to teas in a bag. I wonder if you could just pay for shipping on compost/EWC to build soil one time and then buy the bags which would weigh less to brew the teas? I have seen the niftiest worm bins for indoors.

I plan on using this organic soil http://www.organicmechanicsoil.com/products-catalog-organic-potting-soil.html the container blend
Recommendations for adding nutrients for the veg and flower stage?
I would like to do a 1/2 base soil / 1/2 hot soil
I like the idea of having the roots grow into the nutes for the flower stage
The plant is a heavy eater. Any advice in adding amounts per 1.5cu bag of organic soil is most appreciated. From what I read EWC/kelp meal/and rock dust are good starts but I am unsure of quantities and if this would be strictly for veg and or flower.
Forgive me if this has been addressed there is lots of information here. I'm searching for an answer specific to my bagged organic soil from organic mechanics.
Thanks in advance!

I go to the feed store to get my rice hulls but that's about it as they don't carry much of anything else I could use.

They don't offer kelp at least? Alfalfa pellets can be used but it isn't as good as meal. The nursery I go to said that if they couldn't source it, the feed store has helped them locate stuff before. Maybe it depends on the store. I live outside the city by dairy farms and stuff so maybe there is more demand? Nursery a and garden stores offer stuff as well.

There isn't a store within 3 hours of me that offers kelp meal - you'd be surprised how absolutely ignorant 99% of the population is to organic farming.

They have alfalfa but not kelp. The good thing is I use Kis nute pack and that pretty much has all I need.I like how all the goodies are in one package, great stuff!

I don't think Wal-mart employees know much beyond cultivating powdery mildew.. although I'm interested in their foliar/top feeding method of watering...

I avoid garden centres like the plague. Farm and feed stores rarely try to dazzle you with how well they can overwater/feed root bound plants covered in pathogens and pests. The local stores here stock pretty much everything I could need (smug much? :D).

I'd rather pay shipping or buy roots organic brand before using Wally's EWC. I don't mind picking up cacti and aloe at Home Depot but nothing else. Those plants aren't attractive towards pests. I love their $3 baby plants.
