There is quite a bit yes, humic acids are the result of decomposition and composting process but...
Levels found in aged compost and natural ecosystems contain much higher levels per soil mass that what a mix of 10% EWC is going to provide to say a plant in 5gal of soil.
It has the added benefit of buffering ph and making Fe and other nutrient more available to the plant, the list of benefits is long and I've yet to see any side effects due to any reasonable amount used.

You have to remember that alot of growers are using all-in-one bottled ferts that are sort of organic, alot of these products have HA and FA in them to increase uptake levels of the non-organic fert so they work in any system at higher rates than what 10% EWC is providing.

hey all, not to highjack you but I am using a new product line by FF (in my area its new)
its guano, with humic acids and mycrorrhizae in the powdered form. it is in small 4lb. boxes for 6.99 Its called Peace of mind and it comes as Tomato and Vegetable 7-4-5,
Fruit and Flower 5-8-4, Japanese Maple 4-8-5 and a Starter (don't have #'s) but any way I have been using this on my grapefruit babys and some Durban Poison and they are doing very well. I just add to the FF Ocean forest with perlite and lime.

Hey dude,

here's how to brew an effective tea.

1. Fill a 5 gallon bucket with water and use the airstone connected to the air pump to aerate the water for 24hrs, this will evaporate any traces of chlorine in the water wich can kill beneficial bacteria.

2. Take a sock, t-shirt, paint strainer bag, etc. and make a sort of tea bag for your solid nutrients, once your added the nutrients tie it closed with a piece of string and attach the other end to the lid so as to suspend the bag in the bubbling water.

4. Ingredients (these are for 4 gallons of water)

put these into the pouch

4TBS of worm castings
2TBS of kelp meal
2TBS of either high N or P guano

add to the water

2TBs lquid seaweed
4TBS of molasses
2TBS of liquid karma (optional, substitute for humic or fulvic acids)

5. Once everything is setup and the ingredients are brewing keep it bubbling for 48hrs loosely covered in a dark place, after 2 days you should have foam at the top. Over the course of the brewing process gently shake the "tea bag" to help release the nutes in the bag.

Water your girls with this solution straight, you can water with this tea every second or third watering.
Use guanos only when you want to give them a boost and not everytime as guano is high release, I use guano once high N in veg and 3-4 times during flowering, the rest of the time just use the rest and skip the guano.

Hello all,

Suby, not to be contrary but I use a tea with every watering and have no nute burn. In fact, I am having great results with this method.

4 tsn/gall ewc/compost organic mix (commercial)
2 tbsn guano (3-10-1)/gallon
1-2 tbsn unsulphered molasses/gallon
liquid kelp at full strenght w/ 6% humic acid

Neary a problem with regular waterings.

But that is my results so your milage my vary.

Hey MI,

Every has they're own way to grow and I respect that, I'm sure your recipe is very good, there is as many was to grow as there are growers ;).
I tend to load my soil up heavier than most which is why I use teas every 2nd watering, I must admit it's almost every watering once they're in flowering.
Do you give them guano every time in both veg and flowering, I haven't tried that yet.

I'd say the most important ingredient to feed it everytime is seaweed as it's practically the only organic source of K available, very important to get lots of this in your strter mix too.

Curtis
Bone Meal does not release nutrients in water only in soil while blood meal will work nicely to release high N so it's fine.
That mix looks good, use High P guano for flowering.

Curtis i think your tea is a little to strong and too many things...KISS (Keep it simple stoner) and less is more, this to prhases helpped me out when i was starting with organics. ppl tend to think that if you add a lot of things your plants will uptake everything but that is a mis conception mon. With what you have i would probably do two low strength teas and forget the bone and blood meal, those are better used as soil amendments....

This is what i would do if i where you:
Make two teas for vegging and two for flowering.

Tea number one for vegg: (use this tea once a week)
3 galls water
2 tbs ewc
1 tbs molasses
2 teaspoons of humic and fluvic (dont use much of this stuff it comes very concentrated, believe me two teaspoons is more than enough)

Tea number two for vegg: (use this tea every watering except when it is time to use the other)
3 galls of water
1 teaspoon of ewc ( it adds more bacteria to your soil)
2 tbs molasses
1 tbs kelp meal
1 tbs of apple cider vinegar

The first tea will provide all the macro nutes your plants need and the second one will add the mircros and will provide new thriving bacteria to your soil. i will also suggest doing a fish emulsion for foliar once every two weeks.... you can change the ewc for high "p" guano and there you have a perfect flowring nute...

this is what i use and i have never seen my plants so happy and i have tried a bunch of main brand nutes. Organics is tha bomb just remember this, KISS and les is more......

Hello Suby,

I am still trying to dial in my methods so take that with a bong hit.

I start my seeds out in spent FFOF soil. After two weeks I transplant into 32 oz cups with fresh FFOF/ewc/perlite (50/20/30). After four weeks or so they are ready for transplant into fresh FFOF and 2 gallon pots for flower. While they are in veg, I just give them ewc/molasses/kelp teas.

When I flower them, I start with the ewc/guano/molasses/kelp. Also in the first three weeks of flowering I give them a dose of 1/2 strenght Alaska fish.

The last week is just water and molasses.

All soultions are pH'ed to the low 6's.

That's ok curtis, what you do is make sure to use a little more of the liquid seaweed during the course of the grow in the tea you feed, but definately get some in your soil next batch.
