- Opiated Thai Sticks: Myth or Truth? -

I did watch their video, and they said that they and most smugglers would deal with people in Bangkok, and they would sort out the rest from the delivery to the loading of the boat.

Just going by what the Thai Stick Surfers have claimed.

A lot was grown in the Golden Triangle and, again going by the Surfer guys, few if any smugglers dealt with the growers. Middle men would buy it off the farmers all over Thailand, then take it back to Bangkok, where they would then grade it and get it ready for sale.

There is a documented case in one of the Royal commissions here where Sydney under world figures had sent people on the ground in the Golden Triangle to oversee a huge grow of Thai sticks from start to finish and from memory that was intercepted off the coast some were in Asia as they had them under surveillance.
Some cannabis was grown therevas mentioned but the area known for thai stick was in isaan.
Why would Aussies be in Thailand overseeing a cannabis crop? Sounds like more bollocks to me, thais wouldn't be very welcoming to foreigners doing something like that right to start with.
Generally the pot grown in that area was just for themselves and it is not known for thai stick weed at all...
Just flogging a dead horse here, poor bloody thing died pages back..

The biggest drug Cartel of its time were these guys and as the wheels started to come off their wagon train, and they all became exposed after the killing of Donald Mackay, the importation of Thai stopped.

Pandora's box is a metaphor for something that brings about great troubles or misfortune, but also holds hope. In Greek mythology, Pandora's box was a gift from the gods to Pandora, the first woman on Earth. It contained all the evils of the world, which were released when Pandora opened the box. However, it also contained hope, which remained inside the box. Symbolically, the box represents the curiosity and desire for knowledge that can lead to both negative consequences and positive outcomes. The evils inside the box can be seen as the challenges and difficulties of life, while the hope represents the optimism and resilience to overcome those challenges.[8]

In ancient Greek religion and mythology, Demeter (/dɪˈmiːtər/; Attic: Δημήτηρ Dēmḗtēr [dɛːmɛ́ːtɛːr]; Doric: Δαμάτηρ Dāmā́tēr) is the Olympian goddess of the harvest and agriculture, presiding over crops, grains, food, and the fertility of the earth.

One of the most notable Homeric Hymns, the Homeric Hymn to Demeter, tells the story of Persephone's abduction by Hades and Demeter's search for her. When Hades, the King of the Underworld, wished to make Persephone his wife, he abducted her from a field while she was picking flowers, with Zeus' leave. Demeter searched everywhere to find her missing daughter to no avail until she was informed that Hades had taken her to the Underworld. In response, Demeter neglected her duties as goddess of agriculture, plunging the earth into a deadly famine where nothing would grow, causing mortals to die.

Be blessed 🙏 :huggg:

Ask yourself why they tied the flowers to sticks. It seems Maguire's take makes the most sense and perhaps the rest of what he says may have truth in it..

The origins of Thai sticks are a bit of a mystery. While they only first appeared on western shores sometime in the early 1970s, the true roots of the original cannabis cigars are pretty hard to pinpoint. First produced by the Hmong and Karen hill tribes of Northern Thailand, it's estimated that they have been handcrafted for at least 500 years. So why can't you find Thai Sticks in dispensaries these days? Thanks to the global war on drugs, the last Thai Sticks were made available sometime in the early 80s. Still, the legend lives on. And with the Kingdom of Thailand recently passing massive changes to the legality of weed, we may be seeing a comeback story in the making.

I don't know but it just seems to make sense to me they were put on for convenience and had nothing to do with making the product more attractive to sell. Most of the people that grew it had no idea it was to be exported to the US(largest market) who would see it as anything but convenience and embraced novelities .At $3 a kilo or whatever the price was domestically,it hardly seems worthwile to go to the trouble of putting it on a stick for the native people .
