You are stuck "In the Box"..... :rasta:
Lets take a trip into Dr.Buds world.... :Bolt:
I "Designed" grow rooms for a living for years ......
Grow Opp's do not have to take up half a House.....they have to be efficient :listen2:
Lets take the 3-1000-'s and put them on a 5' x 15' table ......filled with 4" cubes for a true SOG that will be a total of 675 flowering at a time...we will use "DJ Shorts Blueberry" for the example....8 weeks flowering for the pheno I like we will harvest 84 plants per week Avg. 21 grams per plant...it will be much more when ya' git' dialed in (Perpetual Harvest)
for a total of 1764 DRIED grams per week or 3.9 Lbs per week... :jawdrop:
Forever as long as YOU can keep up with it....
We are the "Weak Link"

A set-up like this will require 4 hours a day......But it's a great part time job....lol

This set-up will require a small support system of 4 - mothers, and a nice clone box, and with Blueberry you will need a 1 week to 9 days for veg area for 168 clones

I like the way you think but I think 4 hours is a lil on the low end is this a drip, ebb an flow or soil or what. Also I think 21 grams in sog is a little to much I would say 10 would be more acurate plus your trimming 84 plants a week thats an 20 hour job in its self i think once a month and cut that in half and veg for 2 weeks and your getting more with less work although i've never done dj shorts anything maybe his strains grow that perfect sog 2 second trim.

Ebb & Flow... in wool cubes is the EZest....I pull 84 grams wet and 21 dried from CFL's....(in a 16oz bottle)

Also I think 21 grams in sog is a little to much I would say 10 would be more acurate

This is a 21 gram dried plant SOG (My own Strain) in a 16 oz bottle wet was 82 grams[/SIZE]
plus your trimming 84 plants a week thats an 20 hour job in its self

This is no newby set-up it must be run by someone who is VERY serious about PRODUCTION at all costs....

i think once a month and cut that in half and veg for 2 weeks and your getting more with less work although i've never done dj shorts anything maybe his strains grow that perfect sog 2 second trim.

I like to have it on a weekly rotation....Blueberry works Very well and in a SOG it is VERY EZ to trim...takes about ....Avg.14-16 cuts less than a min per Budlet...I shoot for as lil' "Waste " as possible

as I 've stated earlier in one of the threads, its relatively easy growing more, its moving it out the door that can be a problem

I dont understand. The perpetual harvest is simply to space out your flowering time and produce product on a more routine basis, I thought. It shouldnt have any affect on yield of each plant?

So according to DrBud, his 5x15 table with 675 plants will produce 14175 grams if harvested in one shot. All this with 3K watts of lighting? SO that comes out to 14 grams per watt, slightly higher than the average 1-2 watts per gram. Even 10 grams per plants = 6 grams per watt

Is there something wrong here? How does the perpetual aspect of this affect the yield so much??

EDIT: I need to edit my numbers, I was dividing the grams by 1000, not 3000. 14175 grams =4.725 GPW based on 21 grams per plant. Using 10 grams per plant which most say is more realistic is 6750 grams, that = 2.25 GPW which seems more realistic.

Wow....the mear thought of 675 all done at the same time....makes want to turn and run ....Do you know how much work that would be?....
Picture this if you will a beautiful{insert plant name here} Plant grown in a 30 gallon tub of pro mix vegged for 4 months then flowered under a 1000 watt HPS.....take the top 25" of the center HUGE cola...now multiply that times 675 that will give ya' the #'s
SOG is based on ONLY growing that cola...9 per sq. foot
Grows of this size are rare...you MUST own a Commercial Greenhouse Operation to explain the amount of Rock Wool cubes you go thru

Start small and work up. Its cool you're thinking about doing it big, but STARTING out big is kind of like the story where dad buys his 16 year old a really fast car the teen can't handle, so the car is totalled in a week.

why grow in rockwool? Why cant you just grow in netpots using the medium of your choice such as hydroton, coco, soil etc? I was going to use 6"netpots with hydroton, no rockwool. I will be going pretty much from clone to flowering. Should I adjust and use 4" pots and cram more in there?

DrBud, dont take this the wrong way, I asking for knowledge, not busting balls. With some clones in the bubbler, and everything but the final light ventilation completed, I am ready to go. But in hindsight after seeing the vertical grows, rotogrow, and some other clever ideas, I am wondering if I have built an inefficient system.

I did plan on a perpetual harvest, each table harvesting at different times. I have the ability to be home 24/7 and dedicate as much time as needed. I also can spend the time at harvest and trim 18 hours a day. I may also be able to get some help with that from family.

LOL. Thats what they about sportbikes as well. Never ever get a sportbike as your first bike let alone a beast like a 750 or liter bike. HaHa, my first bike ever was a gixxer 750. Had it for 2 years, never laid it down or looped it.

Guess I am applying that same theory here. No need to waste time on something small.

Heya yamaha, i dont wanna speak for the dok but from all ive sen and and seen other people do ,ive seen many SOG''s with square pots but not nets they just nave holes on bottom and semi up side , 4 ", filled with whatever medium is that persons choice, coco, hydroton, slica stone x coco chips is what im usin and its good so far, but im sure Doc has a reason he uses rockwool cubes, i cant stand em myself but they work if ya know how to work em, anyhow one of my freinds her said after his grows started getting better that what works for one grower may not work another grower, Good luck!!

peace

i wonder what the difference is in using round net pots is versus square pots? a 4" round is not going to take up any more room than a 4" square and the net pots already have all the holes in them.

Bro...you can use ANY medium you are comfie with.....I'm retired I do it in 16ozs of soil mix under CFL's now ....I live in a lil' Cabin for now....lol
1Ltr. soda bottles work VERY WELL with soil/mix,Coco,or hydron....you should exp. and see what works best for yer' strain...with SOG you must gain control of the strain....My strain "Chesaw" will go F'n NUTS with only 1Ltr she shoots to 42" flowered at 6"...its sick...but they won't stand up....she can only be trusted in 16ozs
