Saw same quality in Haarlem, nuttin' new.... Same ol' reworks of NL, SK, WW, etc, etc, .... Utrecht same....

My observation after 3 HT cups, and countless AMS forays.....: Nuthin' you guys didn;t know...! lol

It is a bunch o' sh*t, but a novelty. Everyone should try it. But just like any big event it gets 'gentrified."

How many more Cups can there be, with the smoking regulations coming into play in Jan '08...? I saw about allowances to be made for coffeeshops, but it is a matter of time. Insurers may step in to make it more challenging. Finding a venue for the Expo may become impossible. It may turn out to be an outdoor festival, for the survival of the event.

The thing that surprises me, is that it is so Un-Dutch to turn down that kind of money...!

Except for some of the hash, which was splendid... (Rifman's / Dampkring/Pinkfloyd, and some of the other imported types - Resin's in particular TBISLA and MALANA). An extended trip to Amsterdam is primarily an exercise in fighting off the horrendously sickening cigarette smoke and the myriad germs one is passed in a crowded (BUT FANTASTIC) City in Winter.

The Dutch are to me a very fascinating nationality. Not super interesting, occasionally completely numb and immitative, but very unique. Their conflict-resolution skills are impeccable. As my Musician friend from Algeria told me, "They treat each other like Family."

I did see a good measure of that, as I stayed with others in apartments... And it is lovely. A great and effective society, all told...

Regarding the Supposed THC content, lol, In the same competition here, all the seed companies and coffeeshops wannabe strains would not even "Place." Never to return.

Except Big Buddah. And Mandala for their "Mission."

icysurfer - yes it's true the quality of herb in the NL isn't as good as homegrown elite Cali strains, but decent bud does sometimes exist in coffeeshops - maybe not the best herb in the world, but good enough for a traveller - and I don't mean the unflushed chemmy crap that goes around most of A'dam.

I know because I've smoked good herb in Eindhoven and to some extent in Haarlem, as well as other places.

You say you've travelled around all the NL, so it would be great to hear from you about where were your favourite places and where you found the best bud.

So far I know you've been to A'dam, Haarlem and Utrecht, but obviously there are many more places in the NL, so maybe if it's not too much trouble you could draw up a quick summary of the best coffeeshops/herb in your opinion.

I know that as a connoisseur, your opinion will be harsh but truthful, and would be appreciated by not only myself but I'm sure many others too.

Nah... stop it guys... its not the city... Icy just seems quite snobby... he must have access to something great... only he has not got to share it to us...

As to elites... yes some of those clone-onlies are superb... like OGK... I know, there are different versions... but until I have seen 'm all, I remain a fan of Kushage... as a grower the yield is important... and as a smoker, I'm not into stoney OGK phenos...

I know, if you're hooked on a clone-only nothing else can match it... if you like ESCD, nothing tastes as good... but plants can be more potent than that... and yield better... and so on... I love Sage 'n Sour, as I think it is an improvement over the original... and I grew the parents and the offspring...

Serious, if you pop enough seeds you will find an individual better than both parents... if not, then the breeder sucks and the strain has no place in this world!

Though, I have a bit of feeling like Icy... about Trainwreck and Strawberry Cough... I mean, I haven't tried any offspring of these that I like better... I love these cuts... unique as they are, I don't like seeying them changed into something crap... because if you have found a good cross, you still would need to get through a whole lot of seeds for a chance to find an überpheno...

I believe a big factor why there are less top quality clones/strains in the Netherlands is that it is a clone industry... easy money... no need for making a selection... just reproducing what is on the menu already... why take a chance?... and if it is really good, coffeeshops might buy the new strain... but they would like to have it exclusively... commercial businesses monopolize the best cuts... like nobody shares their best Haze freely...

In the US it is more underground, but it is a larger community... not as easy to share cuts, so it pays off more to make your own selection from seed... and trade only the best clones... that way only the keepers continue to float around... any small home breeder could have one of his projects make it to the elites...

Last year, I did have some out there, and some people remember quite well. Some people who work at own Coffeeshops, win cups (for what it's worth) and seed companies... lol

Based on Organic Medical CA standards - Not necessarily my own - Please note that -

For Example.... Sage n' Sour is commercial quality here. Almost all of TH Seeds strains would only reach that plateau, regardless of the grower. That may be the difference. I ran 3 phenos of S 'n S. Not bad, but no biggie.

Calling a Spade a Spade is Oke, though, if one is reasonably well-informed, and humble enough to admit that - in SCIENCE - Fact is all that matters. Not pride.

I know one thing for sure, the good pot here does not make one's throat burn, does have FULL calyx development, smells through the plastic, and full-spectrum taste. We do not rely on Bubble hash here to get really high, although we certainly have it. And it does.... lol.

I miss my AMS friends, and the seemingly free society, which I found out is less free than I thought, in many ways.... But, the people are splendid... I love the Dutch.

You are right SB, I am definitely a snob. Sorry.... I don;t mean to be harsh, it was a long flight home, and I was knocked out by all the chemmy weed and tobacco smoke... Thank Dog for the Imported H*sj... And certain peeps Bubble....

As if you're talking about my Kushage... I saw the look on your face... you must have liked it... now I read you call it a toy strain?... again I like this one better than most elite clones... Strawberry Cough, Trainwreck, Sour Diesel, Purps, Purple Kush, and Cheese are all inferior IMO... for growing and smoking that is... for breeding the elites are more interesting...

Yeah, I'm a fan of TH Seeds... mostly Sage and crosses with it... that doesn't mean I don't like other seed companies... MrNice, Reeferman, Soma, DNA... to name a few...

icysurfer - I'd like to see some Cali quality in A'dam and the Netherlands, and can't understand why it's not already there, even as I said before A11 and C99, as well as other Bros Grimm stock, which was available in seed form previously, but alas it's not the case

I've smoked elites myself though, as well as some great clones in the UK, so I do have a good benchmark to work off, and can honestly say that some of the smoke in the Netherlands like in Eindhoven - the Silver Haze in The Wall coffeeshop for example, is very good, and certainly rated by me....and I have very high standards like you too.

In A'dam however, thinking about it, and I have to think as there's nothing really outstanding in A'dam, but I had a bag of Jack Herer in 1999 which was good (super up, soaring high - Great buzz ), and that's about it really in terms of remembering good bud from there, lol....more good import hashes come to mind, which is what I really like to smoke when in A'dam.

Am I to assume that by not giving your opinion on other parts of the Netherlands, apart from Utrecht and Haarlem, that you've not travelled around and sampled the bud?

I have done to a certain extent, but want to finish off all the main places soon, then work onto the smaller villages.

Gronigen is quite far away, so that'll probably be towards the end of my sampling, and I'll go around all that area in the North.

This New Year period, I'd like to check of s'Hertogenbosch, although I've not heard great things about the coffeeshops or bud/hash there, unless anyone can tell me otherwise, and also Arnhem, where I've heard some fairly good reports from.

I am in Amsterdam for the first time right now(posting from the hotel, proper smashed from the caramella cream). Being from the states, having sampled the sfv og kush, the bubba, the wreck, the other name pot in cali.. I can say comfortably that the quality in most coffeeshops just doesnt add up. I will try Resin today, I am reading good things about them. I find myself wanting a nice, smelly pristine piece of ogkush to smoke. How bout some super tasty dj short blueberry nicely grown? I am not finding anything really impressive. Wheres the fresh tasty buds in the dam? Kushage from dampkring disappointed, smelled exactly like trainwreck didnt look like it though.. g13haze was bland.. amnesia haze decent unique smell.. nycdiesel smelled nice like grapefruits, super light high almost not there.. I dunno seems most of the nice pot in the states is better, until i get proved otherwise.
