Don't see how any of them cuts are a "myth" Hercules, the phoenix, big foot, those are myths, many know perfectly well the cuts exist.
If you don't wanna believe the stories about their origins than don't, who gives a shit really, I don't smoke stories n I'm sure most others don't either.
Thing is the "stories" pop up a lot later than the actual cuts so it aint what most are chasing, they're chasing the smoke, not the fuckin stories ffs. lol

people should care more about how much they personally like a cut, how it smokes and where it fits into their own favorites - rather than whether it is the legit this or that...
when you find something that really floats your boat the lineage shouldnt matter to you - unless you are desiring it for bragging rights rather than smoking pleasure.

I get that people have memories of a great bud or plant, but that plant and any clones of it have likely passed from the earth decades ago and most everything that claims to be "the original version" is not any such but simply a nice cut of a similar plant with similar qualities ..... I think in 90% of the cases, that's true. Shanti/MNS and perhaps a few others may legitimately claim a strong, clear genetic lineage to a handful of classics, but beyond that ... not so much.

was watching an episode of marijuana man grow show and he was talking about the history of american hybrids and he shows a pic of the sacred seeds catalogue from 85 and i notice this. could it be where ecsd comes from?

I had a friend that crossed M39 to a hawaiian sativa in '03-04 i think and it turned out extremely similar to what we found later was NYCD. He had her for about 4 years and years later we got ahold of some NYCD and grew it out and it was as close as two strains could be without coming from the same seed.
Damn that brings back a lot of old strains to mind....
What ever happened to Legends Highend Rene cut? That was a stanky frost monster too...
