Off the shelf retail store screw-in LED and CFL bulb comparisons

Hey everyone. Been reading up on this thread for days and I started a seed about 2 weeks ago. Just want some insight and pointers on these led's. I originally only had 2 5000k leds that i was using and i bumped it up to 4 but i had them sitting horizontally above the plant. Already popped off the globe's a few days ago cuz I didn't know about that and ive added 3 more leds(2 5000k and 1 3000k) and I now have them suspended above the plant and I probly had the lights about 4" away but it seemed like it was getting a little warm when I put my hand over my plant to check the temperature but the plant is growing good to what I see(staying short and bushy with super fat meaty leaves). Today tho I raised it up to about 6-8 " so I'll see how it performs now. Also noticed that some of the tips r yellow. Don't know if that's deficiency or just from new grow cuz it's on some of the newer leaves. Got her on 18/6 And I've gave it some bonemeal and some poopy fish water that I cleaned out if my filters cuz I figured it had low nitrogen cuz I'm not sure it can quite handle the blood meal. And rn I have it in about a 3 gal pot and it's been in there since seed. Another question...how do u upload images from ur phone. Would like to show recent pics

Alright I figured it out. Here's some pics of my plant and my GB

P.s. I almost forgot to tell y'all how many total watts and lumens output. So I've got 7 bulbs(mixture of 14.5, 15, and 16w bulbs) putting out 107w for 11,200 lumens

Watching Terpene crank out grow after grow on low watts like this is really something...

Inspires taking the DIY lighting system to the next level...It obviously can be done!

Yes, but not if overpowered, for that stage 3 or 4 bulbs are enough and not beaming focused all into one spot

The plant has some yellowing, not just the tips but rather whole plant, check this out, also don't overfeed or overwater at this stage

I'm new to growing with any kind of LED lights so correct me if I'm giving bad advice. ATM im vegging my first crop in a couple years under seven 8.5W bulbs. They spent the first few weeks under a four bulb T8 fixture consuming 160W. So far they seem happier under the new set up. I do need to add a few more bulbs though cuz the girls are taking up a 3' x 2' area ATM.

Anyway, I think the seven bulb fixture would work for a 1.5' x 1.5' space well with 8.5 watt bulbs. Bulb splitters or 14-15 watt bulbs would probably be overkill considering the fixture measures only 9.5" across though.

Ok. I'll remove 3 of the lights and I'll see if she gains some more greenness and quicker growth. Thnx for the advice. I've only grown with cfl's and don't know much about these led's. Been trying to do as much research as possible

The plant cant synthesize all that light yet...i had the same problem before with new clones..cutting the bulbs down will work and they will show a change after the dark cycle and fully back in a day or so.

Alright so this is it 1 day after I removed 3 of the led's and now have 4(3 5000k And 1 3000k)bulbs all 1,600 lumens hanging directly above her. And I thought maybe she was low in magnesium or iron so I added a little liquid miracle grow(don't really like to use but u gotta work with what u got) to her when she woke up yesterday. My GB is at 18" width, 24" long and 42" high. Lol ik I got aluminum foil but like I said u gotta work with what u got and I'm on a budget and that stuff does reflect but I'd like some reflective Mylar or even metal sheated insulation. And I also topped her 2 days ago and her inner branches r taking off. I've never seen such a bushy plant. I mean that thing is only like 4-5" tall. Anyways let me know what u guys think.

No problem, I have no reflecting surface in one closet and it seems no big deal, I fed minimal, and even one bulb was missing... also I've often took samples, would be even more fat :D

Thanks, it's old grow, in that closet, which I'm using mostly for veg, is more blue spectrum about 5000K or was it 6000K, but in other one strictly for flowering I have mixed lights and more warm.
