Off the shelf retail store screw-in LED and CFL bulb comparisons

I can't be shure, for that I must compare clones under different lights, but these "oaxacans" under cooler spectrum were maybe a bit frostier than the other strains under warmer lights, but amount of frost is not a guaranty for good weed except you are familiar with the strain

if you keep them close they barely stretch untill 12/12 yes, keep cool lights on for first week, like how you use to use cool white fluor tubes/bulbs till first week flower to keep it down

you can buy driver and chip on ebay and such for a buck and bit more, bought 20 10watts for 40$ years ago, but never made proper heatsinks on them so they started dying off a while back, so im looking into the new samsung strips, they run 20-50watts and up to 180lumens per watt, thats some sexy spec :D

nobody building these lights in a closed frame with fans sucking heat out? the way i had it, like most people have, on a 'plate' it traps a lot of stagnant air underneat it i closed off the sides and made 2 120mm fans sucking heat out at the top, now the lights stay a bunch cooler, no air trapped anymore

my digicam doesnt work but my old phone however does fine, 180ish in a 1 by 2

The beauty of screw ins is trading height for replaceability.

You can swap out a screw in in 10 seconds; no soldering.

They are at the 47th day of actual flowering. I stopped the fertilizer, yesterday the last. Now I wait, another 2-3 weeks and we are there.

I noticed that buds are more resilient under led, is it my impression?

Hello everyone!

140w of 5000k LEDs in a 2x2x4 space are producing far better than I would have expected:

Honduras x Orange AlienADE (Honduras x AOCADE) @ 12 weeks inside looks roughly the same (if not thicker) than its counterpart that finished outdoors:

Med Tree Seeds Orange Antoinette F2s @ 7 weeks inside (2 phenos):

Jacket (Destroyer x P91 x Princess Diesel) @ 6 weeks inside:

Awesome thread!! All fired up to give these bulbs a crack. Can anyone tell me where to get the best deals currently on 100 watt equivalency bulbs?

Thanks to this thread, I'm keeping a few mother plants with one 13w screw in led... Will add more bulbs as they get bigger.

And plants look stronger and better than under a much bigger watt cfl! Incredible with such a low wattage...

Cheers.

lovely jungle Mr Terp !
Nice you're getting these great results with the 5000k bulbs, can you compare to 2700k ones ?
Not trying to get into the whole veg/flower debate but wondering if subtle differences in weed grown under the different K's do exist. I'm using 2700's from seed to harvest...
Do you see a lot of amber trichs towards the end of flower ? I seem to see less and later under LEDs compared to hps but never did a real side by side...

subtle yes, thats the word, nothing groudbreaking or worth the extra $$ to have both or take one over the other

hps is just harsh on trichomes, just removing all the excess heat will keep them intact way longer, its easy to see if its grown under hps or led just by looking at the thrichs

ive been doing side by sides and there is more differene between plants in different clones, size of pot, feeding etc, than leds make a difference, so yes there could be a small % benefit IF you can find the right strain for the right spectrum, but only if you keep running that same plant over and over

just like red/blue would be WAY more efficient for plants if we use our par graph thingy, but in reality white light grows loads more efficient, we're just ants explaining trees

The first thing I've noticed after changing from 4000K bulbs to 2700K is slow growth, we'll see if they pay off in flower.
