Once again, massive props tp Blynx and all those contributing to this thread. For me off the shelf leds were the answer to all my problems growing in a hidden cabinet, full stealth mode, in a very unfriendly state.

My little dual 22" grow chambers, produce over the course of three cycles during the cold months, all the flowers I could possibly smoke, share, give away in a trouble free environment. Thanks to all, this thread really changed my grow life.

This is my plant today.

I planted the seed on April 4 and switched to 12/12 on May 25.

I left the globes on the side lights and I like the way the plant grows right around them.

The buds are starting to look frosty.

Red nugs seen at the bottom belong to a Red Sapphire (Malawi/PCK47 x Nepal Jam) grown under my first gen HML.

Panama Hybrids definitely love SILs!

A Pure Panama grown under that same SIL grid in previous grow (sorry for the crossing branch):

u/BeugState on reddit (from this post by u/LEDTonic) recommended this thread when I mentioned wanting to use 7-way socket splitters. It took me 4 days of reading off and on but I finally caught up.

WOAH.

This thread has me completely rethinking my entire grow plan. New legal state starting in July (very soon, very excite) but I may not get a grow license until August-September. I anticipate hiccups.

Anyway the state law says you can have up to 6 flowering ladies, up to 6 vegetating, and up to 6 clones under 14". So my plan is to run a staggered perpetual grow with plants going about 6-7 weeks in clone/early veg (topping & FIM), then 10-ish more in a slow veg with heavy training early on, then flowering. So up to about 27 weeks for each plant's complete life cycle.

I'm definitely going SIL in a veg tent (leaning towards a 48"x48"x80" tent laid on its side) and for a tiny clone/early veg shelf or table. Planning on (48) 9w SIL via two 52'/24-socket Patio String Lights (e26) from 1000bulbs in the veg tent. That should give me 16w/ft2 and, considering how fantastic Terpene's grows flowered at 18w/ft2, I think it should be just fine for slow, steady vegging. Less than that for cloning/early veg.

The part I'm hung up on is the flowering tent/room. The way the state wrote the compliance investigation section of the medical law is extremely vague and thus open to interpretation. I don't mind showing compliance, but I take issue when it possibly infringes on my 4th amendment right. I had planned on using an 11'x7' room inside and lighting 9'x6' of it with a series of 300w high-bay LED panels. The problem now is that I'm most likely moving flowering to a 5'x10' tent in a detached garage, and implementing the SIL for a large flower tent have me scratching my head.

On the one hand they are super-efficient and super cheap. The results posted throughout this thread are nothing short of phenomenal. On the other hand the high-bay panels are plug-n-play and much simpler to hang in a tent (they're like 46"x20" IIRC). I figured up costs for (96) 14w SIL & (4) 24-socket string lights at about $325 (26.88w/ft2). Cost of 4 high-bay LED panels is $1,100 (24w/ft2). $775 in savings would be huge, I just don't know how I'm going to manage 96 screw in LED bulbs inside a tent on garden string lights? If I were to do 96 standard fixtures the cost would increase by double and that's a lot more weight on a plastic tent frame than running string lights.

To make things even more complicated, I've also been looking into some 53w driverless LED chips that run directly on 110v and only need heatsinks (AgentPothead mentioned a different, but similar, style in post #2800). And those are as low as $6.50 apiece. 24 of those paired with some LGA1155 CPU heatsink cooler fans, a PC PSU, and molex fan adapters would run me $302 or 4.20 watts per dollar (25.44w/ft2). Having (24) 4" heatsink fans pointed straight up towards the inline exhaust fans would also (probably) save me from having to run fans inside the tent (besides the exhaust fans).

So I want to thank everyone who contributed to the SIL Bible of a thread, and if anyone has any insight (or questions) about my dilemma, fire away.

Hey Medfinder, how did you hang your string lights? Just ceiling hooks and string or chain through the eyelet above each socket? Any issues with them?

Golden Tiger #3 x Panama Goddess: Chopped

Chop time came... I think this is the most yielding plant I´ve seen under SILs.

They're that cheap for a reason, their efficiency is about the same, or slightly better, than HPS. I've been watching much better results with people using SIL arrays and strip LEDs. :)

Thank you all!!! :tiphat:

BoredToDeath: those are 7L pots (short of 2gal).

Bear in mind I´m using coco so size is not related to available food for the plants, is just a medium (hidroponic) .

I irrigate daily, 100% salts (Hakaphos Basis 4 + Yara Calcinit / MKP), RO water, EC never exceeds 0.9mS/cm.

210W of SILs (clic for details) covering a 60x60cm (24x24") area (around 50W/sq ft).
