low heat output

low heat output

Its great for me 9 degs off the equator.
Only half the amount of AC for the same wattage with sils.
I have to run sealed + C02 because outdoor heat and humidity
I noticed i can run dry cycle with AC and need way less Dehum by getting the air flow through the plants then up through the sils frame, back across the cieling to the AC
The condensate is cold and usefull for the resevoirs.
I do need to insulate the container though or condensate will form on the outside
On the whole sils heat output is a better ballance
And the efficiency is only going to get better and better.

one question i have is why multiples of tiny chips on our sils and not one larger chip ,i assume tiny chips give better light spread ?

Those aren’t actually larger chips, they are arrays of LEDs... I think the data shows that spread lighting is better anyways, and it’s easier to deal with the heat, which unchecked, kills LEDs.

36c per watt, 140lm/w 4' T5. That sounds really quite reasonable. 10 tubes making 250w@$90.

Perhaps 25% can be gained by opening them up. Bit better distribution could close the gap on the flows, and their (presumed) reliance on a reflector.

what like cutting the plastic covering off them?

taking a hit on lumens

maybe on paper.

you could try a smaller amount first and test them against each other.

i think you're gonna need a pair of these

Normally not, the LED chips are mounted on a flat board that spans the length of the tube and they're covered by the opaque plastic. The fixtures are stable without the opaque cover, it's just there so you don't see stars for half an hour if you look into the LEDs directly by accident.
AS far as the ones I know... I have a pair of 60cm LED tubes in my veg compartment.

I wonder how that flat board is attached to the "end caps".

It may just be two wires reaching from the "prongs" to the flat board.
The "end caps" may just "float" with the plastic cover removed.

I guess he's just going to have to take one apart to see what he's got.

(again, I'm just guessing based on different things I've taken apart)

I'm just guessing but the plastic tube might be what holds the bulb together.

The gutts might fall out if you remove them ?

and the thought of cutting 144 lamps is really a forehead slapper

think ill wait till Mango's lights are tested out and available :tiphat:

hey guys also look out for these rewire ones they look like you could string as many a circuit will handle, no ballasts needed

wonder which ones are the more effective lamp

heat
power usage
output
wise

the ones with the little metal caps are glass i think? longer plastic caps are plastic ones

This is a picture of the led bulbs you're thinking of.

I'm sure they're plastic. (but maybe not?)

I would think it would be a royal PITA to cut the plastic off (or smashing the glass. lol) without cutting into the flat circuit board, especially if you've got 144 to do.

In case the structural stiffness of the plastic tube (it is def plastic not glass) is required to hold the damn thing together, you could dremel an opening into the tube for the LED's to be unobstructed ? Also a major PITA though...
;-)
And sorry for the confusion, the ones I have are a plastic body and then a u-shaped translucent "half tube" as a cover.

This is my plant that I started April 4th.

I switched to 12/12 at 7 1/2 weeks.

It's White Widow femiized from Crop King Seeds.

I like the way my buds hug the 10 W Walmart bulbs.

If you like cleaner burning cannabis, switch to plain water now. Cannabis does not convert the sugars, which lowers your end flower smoking quality. ;)

Nice photo. :) You may find a more accurate 'amber' count on the flowers themselves. I've always found the sugar leaf trichomes to amber up much sooner.

OK. Plain water untill harvest.

I have a hard time trying to see the color of the trichs on the flowers because of all the orange hairs.
I don't know if I'm seeing an amber trich or an orange hair reflecting through a clear or white trich ?
