I know this , it s my second run in this speace , but why i don t have light burns on the leaves .. On the top leaves , first run i have this problem . but now in 10 cm from the cannopy i don t , i play a little bit and i adjust the distance and i stop at 10 cm

You were getting light burn and you moved away from the lights to a distance of 10cm (4in).
?

23-25° this is air temperature?
The leaf surface can vary from air temp
And sometimes even be higher then ambiant.
Your plant will do better if you take out half the bulbs
Why am I converting metric if you are in cali?
Rant over

here's a small discovery, maybe not so small
when temps are cooler, say lower 60's
i have an unheated home area which does give me that temp for a wide part of the year
i am able to run my micro grow setup without powered ventilation
now i'm running on the lower side of optimum, 22 watts per square foot
but i find it excellent to be able to simplify inside growing in this way

Stupid question: Can I safely have my 6 in 1 light splitter connected to any old e27-socket/chord? I´m looking for a socket and chord to hang my light in but almost all of the chords I have laying around have something like "Max 40W" written on them. Is this something I need to pay attention to? I´m planning on using between 60 and 90 watts.

The 60w rating, is based on the presumption you will plug a 60w incandescent lamps in. The issue being one of heat cooking the lamp holder. As a 60w lamp really can warm up the plastics. In your installation, your not actually plugging a lamp in at all. So the ratings purpose doesn't really apply to you. However, the holder isn't rated for this particular use at all..

If you have a 220-240v supply, I wouldn't think twice about it. Just use what you have. However, 100W at 110v is like an amp... Yeah sod it, an amp is nothing for a sprung contact. Carry on, but be vigilant. If it starts cooking like there was a 60w lamp in there, then something is wrong.

I know this thread is centered around microgrows, but I’m curious: what’s the largest space anyone’s had lit w/ SILs, and how did it turn out?

Sorry if it’s in the thread and I missed it.... :tiphat:

Spectrum? Do you mean what is the colour temperature of the LEDs I used?
Are you interested in the plant or being pedantic?

Approximately 3:1, 3000K:5000k.

Thankyou for the detail.
And yes im meticulous, with 40 plus years of growing under lights
ive become so ,but now you have added the spectrum i know its most likley not the case .
I have been experimenting with 50/50 3k and 6.5 k mixed led and all 3k and all 6.5k led .
Im about to move ,then i intend to build a 4ft x 4ft bay using 4:1 3k and 6.5k led.

There are plenty cheap ceramic lamp holders availble.
I plan to use them screwed to and aluminium frame as a heat sink with extractor fan above to remove heat ,as im in a tropical location.
Luckily this 3rd world country has either by design or chance opted for 220v 50 hz power supply.

6w cloner

6w cloner

My simple system consists of a large salad container with lid, and a 6watt led SIL. It's On an 18/6 timer. I put cuttings into peat balls and just wait two weeks. Moisture from the peat is all that is needed. Last run had 100% rooting.

16watt small veg box

16watt small veg box

Once my clones are transplanted I place them in this 1x2 box under 2x8-5k SILs, On an 18/6 timer. A small PC fan pulls air through. Reflection by Mylar space blanket. I made the box from fiberboard one evening just to try a small space. I give huge props to all you PC case growers!

My issue, and a lot of other folks too, has always been yields. Half of what an HPS produces. I really like my sil lights for veg but I still use my little 150W HPS to flower. But it's getting warm down here in FL and I'm about to flip to flower a C99/Sweet Skunk.

I have a remote thermometer I keep in my little cab. I also have some warm color sil bulbs (Walmart) that I'll be cutting the domes off too and replace the cool ones in my cab.

I plan to flower mostly with that HPS but watch the temps. If it hits 85F I'll open up the doors and also switch over to the LEDs

Just thinking/planning. Proper Planning Presents Piss-Poor Performance. I like using the 6P method.

Hi all, I have been a lurker on this site for about 5 years give or take, and have to say everything I have learned has mosty come from here. I have been a CFL fan for a long time for micro grows and have recently been interested in replacing them with SIDs so started reading and researching and ended up on this thread. I think it's really cool that this has been going for years and several of the same people check in from time to time with new ideas or to help the new guys. thanks to you guys Blynx and Terpene in particular that share the knowledge. very different than other sites where so many conversations turn into pissing matches and what not. I'm at page 240somethin reading through and just wanted to say thanks. Best wishes
