Off the shelf retail store screw-in LED and CFL bulb comparisons

I replaced my Philips 11W (2700K) for 6x not so known german brand 15W 5000K @ 8€ until I receive the E27 multipliers to rise light intensity a bit (only 6 sockets right now, went from 66W to 90W).

Here in EU a good price for Philips corepro 60 11-13W line is around 4-5€ each, the colder, the more expensive usually.

vs a Philips:

Quality wise the philips win, no doubt about it. German bulb don't look bad, but LED and PCB quality differences are obvious IMO.

Don't know how this SILs will turn out, but for starters these as they have 2x the LED chip count of the philips, should have lower wattage chips and hence less light penetration even being a higher wattage bulb.

That's the point I tried to make some posts ago, it's not the overall watagge of the bulb what dictates how hard a SIL will hit the canopy, the LED chip number counts too.

They look like great SILs for a veg tent, let's see how they turn out.

What I have noticed today while watering is a noticeable difference in stem thickness vs the previous HPS run.

I didn't compensate light temp in white balance to show real life color.

One thing is for sure, they feel twice as powerful in terms of light intensity!

9 weeks to the day and the more destroyerish looking Violeta x Napalm is near as makes no difference to finished. (I needed room for the 3 Lebanese females which just got tossed into flower.) The other plant is at 4 weeks and is developing a more OG-Violeta structure in flower.

Here's 6 weeks on Panama Goddess x Zamaldelica.

(Mauritius x Ethiopian) x Super Silver Haze from DRM Ranch. I have two distinct phenos, the densely flowering, SSH looking plant at 6 weeks and the leggy, very ethiopian looking plant at 5 weeks.

Nice Terpene.

Hey mate, you still using the same amount of power? I remember you mentioning that you were using 10 x 15 watts over 4 sq ft.

150w (Ten 15w bulbs half 3000k, half 5000k) over 8 sqft actually, its a 4'W x 2'D x 4'H cabinet. I'll probably end up stepping it up to 12 bulbs eventually, but its been pretty hard to argue with what 18w per sqft puts out. :D

Weird, I was sure you were using 150 watts over 4 sq ft, resulting in 38 watts per sq ft, must have misread.

I started at 26 W/sqft, now I'm at 34 W/sqft, next upgrade I plant to up that to 52 W/sqft with 3 more 13 watt bulbs.

I got 12 x 9w, spaced 6" on center
6, 3000k and 6, 5000k
108w/3.75sqft = 28.8w/sqft

I kind of had a hard time deciding on wattage but I came up with this at around 30w/sqft and I figured it would be a good starting point.

Nice buds and gardens everyone! I'm really happy with how my setup is working out and I've got to say thanks for the inspiration that came from this thread! Looking forward to seeing more :)

-Cheers

You can always replace bulbs with different wattage or temp color in a matter of seconds, and re-use older, or no longer needed bulbs at home.

You can always take out a SIL and place a E27 multiplier (3x, 4x, 5x, 7x...) on its socket...

SILs are sooooo flexible!!

I targeted for 30w per sq feet. Thinking on assembling a grid-like rig to place the sockets instead of the "octopus" way. Reasoning being to achieve the most uniform light overlapping:

A design I'm considering (The more stretchy plants will go on the right side):

attachment.php

2700K are 11W, the rest 13W, so total will be 10x11W + 10x13W = 240W, total about 34w per sq feet.

Open to suggestions!

Hola guys!!here's the evolution of my box.I added a second fan that will help me in the flowering and a mini humidifier.I think the plant has suffered a bit of light stress or low humidity (visible from first leaves) but after all it looks healthy. These leds are very powerful

What would someone recommend for a 90x90x160 cm tent? Just upgraded from a microgrow. Found Philips 33W 6500k 4000 Lumens led bulbs at a local store but can't seem to find any in 2700K. Don't mind if i have to put a heap of low wattage bulbs in, trying to find the highest though. Only ever grown with cfl so all new to me. Thanks in advanced!
