Most of you would vote for a presidential candidate based on their position on legalizing MJ, but would casually look the other way as they steer us down the road to economic ruin?

anyway, i think speculation on this point is a fruitless pursuit. i'm just going to do the only thing any of us who aren't about to shut it down can do: WAIT AND SEE. my feeling is that this is a posturing move to save face. after all, egregious and unjust though i may find this country's drug policy to be, i can relate to the position that the feds find themselves in— trying to maintain the appearance of authority while any state that so chooses enacts legislation that flouts federal law and countermands the rule of law and all that other good government bullshit. my inner optimist hopes that this memo won't cause any considerable departure from the way the feds are currently doing business up and down the west coast and in other mmj positive states, but that it'll still allow the bastards to go on record as saying, "see? we're not ok with this." my inner pragmatist doubts this is the case.

as an avowed anarchist, i have no misgivings about the intentions and motivations of the elite. they wish to preserve their privilege, and they will do so by any means necessary. to suggest that things would (or will be) considerably different under this administration or that is utter stupidity. the (often indiscernably) lesser of two evils is not really a choice at all. if you want change, go into your community and effect that change. don't throw a lever every four years and delude yourself into thinking that you've participated in the political process and fulfilled your civic duty.

maybe that is a moot point in this forum. anyone here who has been doing this for more than a handful of years was a criminal in the eyes of the prohibitionists. whether you were a cartelero importing sexy mexi by the ton or a chemo patient making brownies out of trim to quell the bouts of dry heaves. it seems like the first time a bit of favorable legislation was enacted, many folks developed a false sense of security. they felt shielded by this new veneer of legitimacy and became all too eager to announce their business to the world, setting up storefronts and taking out ads in the back of the weekly paper. that's just delusional.

my suggestion: until hb 2306 or something equivalent is signed into law, keep doing what you've always been doing, but for crissakes, do it the way it used to be done— with a healthy dose of discretion.

Yeah they ARE building fema "compouds"...so that in case of an emergency when thousands of people have lost their homes they will be able to have a place for them to stay until their homes get rebuilt.

It's simply much more cost effective to transport people who have lost their homes to a set destination rather then trucking in thousands of trailers, generators and water tanks....
