Oaxacan

New member here. Graduated high school in 1973. I have smoked some of the best strains that were imported into the country at that time before there was really any domestic growing in the US except maybe in California. Have been reading about people searching for true oaxacan.
Sensi seeds has some of the oldest genetics cause they were one of the first. Merged with the seed bank that was started by Nevil.
They're Mexican sativa is based on oaxacan crossed with Durban and a Pakistani hash plant. Then crossed back with the oaxacan. 70% sativa. The Durban and Pakistani genes seem to be recessive.
An up old school type of high.
Probably as close as you're going to get to 100% oaxacan like back in the day!

I have some seed from the Landrace Team in the freezer tempting me. Space is limited and I pull them out and put them back.

It's not diffficult to still find 100% Oaxaca in Oaxaca, Even as hybrids are getting introduced. And and there are a lot of different varities of landraces in Oaxaca, it's not all the same,

1973 is my birthday year lol, although with some difficulties.
Sensi had in the early 90s the real deal Mexican from the Seed Bank till they changed it. The Sativa Seedbank had it too, but they dont exist anymore. This Oaxacan was early in flowering and pretty mold resistant. Some old pics 👇

Hey Mex420,
Nice conversation!
Good to talk to people on the same wavelength.
I don't know if we will ever be able to know the exact makeup of the oaxacan from the 1970s , not only the THC content but all the other terpenes and cannabinoids that gave it that special effect.
Too much emphasis on THC content once growing was forced indoors. Eliminating CBD to to zero. Focus on modern breeding should be on the quality of the high and the mixture of the cannabinoids and terpenes which will determine the quality of the high. Even though we have lost most if not all of those old time strains I think that through careful modern breeding we probably could attain those qualities again.

Too much emphasis on the flavor and appearance of the buds. I will admit flavor is nice to have but the appearance means nothing unless you're worried about bag appeal to sell. Years ago me and a few friends spotted a cannabis plant that was probably 6 ft tall growing behind some old folks's chicken coop. We later realized it was probably left over from the government's program in the 1940s telling people to grow head to help win the war. This plant was the most colorful thing you've ever seen with red orange yellow and green colors in the buds and sticky as hell. We snuck into the property pulled up the plant dried it and smoked it and it had absolutely no effect except a headache. Plus I remember years ago a plant can have loads of trichomes but no THC or very little.
