I've grown his purple satellite. It's a Oaxaca x Nepalese f1. It's an excellent outdoor strain and has a killer sativa high. Definitely has the Mexican herb feel and aromas.
Yes I grew the PS as well and I agree it's an awesome early sativa. Mine were feminized. I just received a pack of Oaxacan gold and purple Satellite regulars for next season

Please don’t be under the impression that Vermintmans Oaxacan is pure Oaxacan.

1973 is my birthday year lol, although with some difficulties.
Sensi had in the early 90s the real deal Mexican from the Seed Bank till they changed it. The Sativa Seedbank had it too, but they dont exist anymore. This Oaxacan was early in flowering and pretty mold resistant. Some old pics 👇

Great read. In what feels like a former life, I worked in the hills of Guerriero, west of Iguala for 3 years. In the afternoon, in the fall, workers would bring in donkeys in a line, all with corn stalks bundled on both sides. Later a friend told me the buds were in the center of the bundles!

I thought he said he kept it intact and mountain gold was the federation Hawaiian cross? Must have misunderstood.
Shame, I just found a plant in a pack of Zacatecas tribute with much thinner leaves than all the others and more leaflets, probably an accident s1 im thinking. Was hoping it’d be pure mex but not flowered it yet.
I think there was a phylos test for the cbg Oaxaca and sadly a skunk had its way with it.

I’m not sure about that. I’ve just read the story a few times of how the vermontman Oaxacan was bred to Hawaiian to restore it and then backcrossed back to Oaxacan. Sounds like a great line that should be called Oaxacan/Hawaiian, but for some reasons the Hawaiian part gets left out of the convo.

Maybe he was worried people would think it was a hoax :) I think the Hawaiian is of Thai origin, sounds like a good mix.

I remember Oaxacan! Or at least that's what we called it. I suppose it could have been anything. Most of the bales we got were hard to identify as far as unique characteristics....other than that the seeds were very dark -almost black and they were very thin-shelled. The seeds were also very shiny and they cracked extremely easily if squeezed. I remember it was usually a lighter shade of green and had taste that reminded me of mossy/Earthy smell. Yeah, it wasn't considered as anything all that special at the time. What we wanted was the Colombian...or "lumbo" as we called it. The Oaxacan was like a step up from whatever other kind of baled, Mexican weed we could get. It was kind of a take it or leave it thing back in those days. There wasn't a lot of "selection" in the process. It was whatever was growing in a particular plot. We got males, females, roots, dirt, rocks, etc.
