Smoked some a few days ago, I'm glad the younger generation still has it in the heights, when I smoked it....I was like "yo, which block did you cop this from!?"

The kid was like, "oh that's right your from the Haze era, yea a few of us still have this but not as frequently"

Best believe I'ma be scouring for seeds lol

Stoney I'm 100% certain it survived the bust, as I very much remember picking up bags of stringy piff in 2006/7, I can't speak to whether its alive today I'd have to reach out to some old friends. I was unaware there we're multiple cuts, always tacked it up to different grower/nutes/evironment.... now that you mention it, the stringy hazy or 1st cut as you say was more bandaid/basement and i can only assume the other cut I liked was the 3rd which was much more pissy/incense and a bit denser. Does that sound right to you?

Yep the 3rd cut was kinda gold buds in appearance pissy incense is a good description...definitely chunkier buds... probably the most intense instant high....

So, do you guys believe that the PIFF was grown commercially indoors or outdoors ?

I find it hard to believe that such a large commercial operation chose to grow low yielding long flowering in an indoor setup, let alone that a setup of the size required could run for so long undetected... It would be a unique situation in the story of clandestine cannabis production during prohibition. So I suspect the PIFF is imported, outdoor grown and that the famous inscense smell comes from the cure

Yup thats the one, tastes sweet & pissy without so much twang, the incense always mellowed it out, end of the joint is almost the best part, instant alert high. Without givin too much away, any chance you could describe the 2nd cut a little? I smoked a lot of piff growin up so i'm curious to see if I can remember.

It was grown at many locations up and down east coast n even in PA... mostly large residential grows few buildings were blown up... the longevity and success were do to the right ppl getting paid by the right ppl .. even the corners operated openly... traffic on 178 n autobon at 3 am car lined up around the corner .. was nice when it lasted and lasted for hella long ..

OK the 2ND cut is bright green soft nugs with a silver sheen n red hairs... can be hairy when grown poorly ... it can be remembered as some of the best when grown right has a super strong incense smell mixed with basement followed by tropical floral soap .... probably the stinkiest in the bag piff and best looking.. super strong can get races intense high... also could be the worst piff that hit extra soapy but tasted suspect/sprayed alot of blacks in Jersey Newark/Irvington/jc had this one...except the school off of began n Springfield area they had the flame ... towards the end of the great piff era poorly grown samples of this flooded those the samples were so shitty imo that they resemble the stringy original in appearance but lacked the special qualities the first one had n tasted like shit... the later version basically just got taken over with sour...

Thanks stoney! your description sounds a lot like what I used to pick up as 'bloomfield headies' back in 04-06. And that cracks me up i remember grabbin dubs of the shitty haze that smelt/tasted like a bar of dove soap around the Orange area...

damn, that's a lot a history in the last posts. Now i'm inclined to ask, but don't know if you can answer, but can you say once and for all what is in it? Can it be the so much spoken of nl5xhaze/neville's, just a regular good ol' mexo/columbo, or none of the above?

cheers for the legend/whole thread anyway, always nice to see these things starting to come out as years go by.

Thankyou stoney, interesting and has a ring of truth about it

You are alluding to LEO playing a part in the distribution ?

My question really was, why did they grow a (long flowering, low yielding by comparison) Sativa when they could have earned more $$ growing a hybrid/indica. Yes, sure people clearly loved the PIFF, but I cannot recall another time or place during this prohibition where connoisseur headstash was grown and sold commercially, in the face of massive financial incentives to maximise the rewards for a life threatening criminality.

Are members of the NYDP and assosciates so into their smoke that they happily run a 100s of million $$$$ operation at 30% of possible return, risking life without parole in the Penitentiary, for great weed ?

This is the anomaly that has never added up for me. I always guessed it was some tight as fuck crew of old heads with a laaarge farm on the islands, central america or S america who had a solid route in.. it was the only answer that made any sense to me.

I am not familiar with the piff. But in my small sativa experiences I find it more of a time and space issue. The yields are usually pretty good, just more than a month later. I can see the right pheno being commercially viable.

Look at girl scout cookies low yield but the demand was off the charts ..look at some of the low yielding ogs fire but low yields ..top dollar

And i think like the "movie" concept is what ur alluding to and it isnt like that ..old heads with crews and Islands lol ..logistics wouldnt make sense its its to much from 2 far ..think about it they press everything not grown in the states thats a key sign of import

And to help perspective and show demand a .3-.4 was 10 dollars all day long u hit the jackpot if u could find like a gram for a dub ..but mostly. 8 ..half ounces were 200-250 an once 400-500 with that kind of demand why does it seem so hard to grow it in one place and bring it to another only a few hours away

No leo wasnt directly involved but its only so many cops and so much people so they would make bust all day and it did nothing To stop traffic ..like stoney said it would be lines of cars outside at 3am how does a department stop a movement making department salaries everyday ? U cant ..u aim for the head and cut it off ..and thats what the feds did in 07 "operation green venom in florida" so there was a actual leader or thinker i should say that started it all heres a little quote i took from his arraignment

The investigation and prosecution of the cases arising from “Operation Green Venom” has been overseen by the Office’s Violent and Organized Crime Unit.Assistant U.S. Attorneys Andrew C. Adams and Micah W.J. Smith are responsible for the prosecution.

Additionally, RODRIGUEZ-PEREZ agreed to pay $25 million as a forfeiture penalty, which is the approximate amount of gross proceeds received by RODRIGUEZ-PEREZ derived from racketeering activities, properties in New York, Florida, and the Dominican Republic, and cash and jewelry seized by law enforcement officers

RODRIGUEZ-PEREZ, 43, has been in federal custody since October 15, 2010, when he was arrested during a takedown of more than 50 members of a massive marijuana trafficking ring that transported ton-quantities of marijuana from Florida and California for distribution in the greater New York area from the early 1990s to 2010. RODRIGUEZ-PEREZ is scheduled to be sentenced by Judge Swain on October 25, 2016, at 2:00 p.m.

This is like my 3rd time mentioning this but i do it bc all the info is out there on paper and that era is basically done ..but im tryna debunk all the myths that pop up ..keep the story trutful this dude is paying 25 milion in forfeiture he is and was the PIFF movement

Many thanks for posting that, sorry I had not seen it before.

It speaks of Florida and Cali being the sources, and makes no mention in anything I read about importing
