I just had two plant finish in FFOF with 25% perlite and had issues at 3 weeks. I used 6.5pH and fed EVERY DAY and all my problems went away. I did use very small pots (2.4L) so they were hungry.

what in the blue hell is going on..

last night I almost fainted when i saw one of those little leaf bugs on my baby! you know those green bugs that look like leaves..?

i went over all my plants with a microscope and I haven't found any pests.

I fed them yesterday, now I guess I just have to wait to see if they get better..

whatever is going on, it has been progressing from the bottom leaves to the top.

Well, some of the strains have responded well to the watering and feeding, others have not.

New shoots have developed and leaves are getting bigger on some. However, i've seen two of my girls with dark blue leaves, or developing them. This is Mag def if I'm correct, which is what toohighmf called. arg. epsom salts here i come..a few have bottom leaves that have turned completely pale.

some pics of the hurt ones..

it's all the different strains. this is my first grow, and i didn't take into account that different strains will respond to the same environment differently. Some of those strains need to be watered every 5 days, while others -- I suspect that hairy bagseed, and those kush's want 6-7 days (my friend who's growing kush just switched to 6 days and said they started improving when he did).

Stop overwatering...
Stop "timing" when to water.
Stop shoving your fingers in the dirt.
Change your ways, think outside of the box, and START Lifting the planter to determine when its ready for more watering (see link below)

If you really feel the need to use ffof soil, then next time please cut it in half with sunshine mix and THEN add about 30% perlite and some dolomite lime at @ 1 teaspoon per gallon of this soil mix.

How cold or warm are your temps lights on and off?
Also how long have they been in FFOF soil?
10k is right, I have never seen anyone use FFOF soil on semi new plants, even if it's a clone of that size.

You are also overwatering like 10k says.

Nitrogen is poorly absorbed when you have soggy or over watered soil. This happens when you water to much; not just over watering once.

So before you feed I would wait till over watering issue got resolved them go from there. How are you testing the ph? and how often are you testing your ph?

i don't overwater. i judge whether watering is needed by lifting the containers.
i also don't use "ffof" soil, i'm not in the US. i use a soil with a 12,5-15-27 NPK ratio. is that soil too hot for seedlings/clones? worked great on bigger plants in 1 and 3 gal pots, also worked nice on previous seedlings (shiva shanti). i also use about 30-40% perlite and 1-3tbl dolomite lime per 1-1.5 gallon.

Actually stitch, I was speaking to both tyler and the thread starter sardonic.
But since he asked..."i use a soil with a 12,5-15-27 NPK ratio. is that soil too hot for seedlings/clones?" Yes, that is a pretty hot mix for seedlings/clones imho....and is more NPK balanced towards flowers than vegging plants. Anyway tyler, it would be better if you started a thread for your plants with pictures and full details.

I use a PH tester. the PH has stayed @ 7 the whole grow.
the plants all look a lot better since i watered them with some cal-mg(few days ago).

now, this plant is very funny...before it got sick with the mites/overwatering/etc it was growing quite beautifully. extremely hairy/sticky at such a young age...here's a pic of her after she got sick

now, the funny part is..the day after i watered and she started to recover, her leaves changed drastically. they look completely different now. i think they're very pretty, actually..

Geez I felt bad for those plants looking at those pics Sardonic!

That one that is totally shriveled and burned up poor little girl!

Less is more you will come to find when it comes to fertilizing. I also found IME that cal-mag is the first thing they show def in when you have other issues, pH or overfed etc.

Here is some healthy ladies to spruce your thread up :]

Good luck man

Peace

all that picture did was make me feel horrible about my girls, thanks Bignugget, thanks a lot :puppydoge :badday:

Sardonic man, those ph soil testers are the worst. get rid of it; use ph test strips or ph digital meter.

Those seedlings are extremley stretchy; lights need to be closer to them. HPS causes a lot of droopiness with smaller plants like this. I can't tell what is wrong with the ones without light on.. hps hides what is wrong in the picture.

You need to get ph test strips for one.....
2: I would use fluros for now.. hps on those size of plants are wasting electricity and causes slower growth in those size plants.
Vegging them they need cooler blue spectrum.... flowering they need the red orange spectrum.

I would get some fluros in there for now....

now with the other problems........ I would not use that mixture for plants that size.
WHat soil mixture are you using for those seedlings?

thanks guys

using 50% perlite / ffof for the seedlings. i grew the rosebud kush in 25% perlite/ffof and they grew extremely healthy, as have all my other seedlings that i've started in ffof..

don't have the money to buy anymore lights so i'll have to settle on the HPS for now. can't afford a ph meter right now either..shucks..
