I have some friends that use Grow more 20-20-20 and 15-30-15..they keep the 20/20/20 and 15/30/15 in stock tanks and use injection mixers during the spring and summer and then a 305 gallon mixing tank when they switch to organics to finish...putting compost tea in to the water tank and then injecting 20/20/20 in to it would be pointless...They switch to metanaturals 3-3-3 and eventually only 1-5-5 to finish...They don't use compost tea root drenches...Plough was picking something out of a post I made and trying to make a big stink about it...

ahhhh Grow More Nutrients, a brand name :)

u r correct that those high NPK chem nutrients will kill the biology in the tea, therefore making it pointless, but are you suggesting that chem ferts are the only way to achieve maximum yield ?

do you often make cynical, sweeping generalizations? :)

lol. no. note the bold-faced potion of the following:

"Alcohol has the unique quality of bringing out the inner asshole in just about everybody."

that would leave room for exceptions. hardly "sweeping." cynical, sure. I'm pushing forty. Cynicism is a worthwhile defense mechanism at this point.

why so defensive about the subject?

Please read what I type and nothing more.

indeed.

plough: shhhh.

TBR time: Thanks for stopping by.

Fisher: hand watering is rare over here. mostly relying on the drip and the injection system. But I am considering a top dressing soon, so we may start hand watering every other day.

Gaiusmarius: Thanks for the praise, but after a recent visit to the county of Humboldt, I can see that while my ladies are nothing to sneeze at, my technique is well below the bar set by my friends there.

HumboldtLocal and Ganja and Mrs. D, thanks for an amazing and inspiring day. You guys are setting the standard for how it should be done!

lol.

can u explain this a bit please?
grow more is classic "blue stew" basically miracle grow in adifferent package. industrial , cheap, salt nutrients. does it work ? yes... but with anything that salty there is no need for compost teas as your soil isnt alive at all. and the beneficials in the tea arrive d.o.a. if mixed in with the blue stew!
but its cheap, bulk, and effective. nowhere near organic hence no use for compost teas.
hope that helps,
j.d.

lol. blue stew. I have heard growmore products referred to as "Miracle Grow for Food"... I have not looked into it too deeply, but it certainly looks like MG.

just about everybody is still a generalization. some people is not a generalization. :) i read that after i had enjoyed some beers and games of pool with my brother after i along day of gardening and i just felt like i had to say something.... to each their own right?

i remember when we were talking caterpillars earlier this season. well the moths started landing in the garden and i'm gearing up. just ordered up some trichogramma wasps from Arbico Organics. they have an insectary on site so they breed their own. other places i called had like 2-3 week lead times... anywase, 7,200 eggs for approx $40 shipped.
http://www.arbico-organics.com/prod...asites/beneficial-insects-predators-parasites

i too have just stated seeing some PM... my SSH's are kinda getting hit hard....im going to start hitting em with Serenade garden Disease Control ( active ingredient bacillus subtillus ) .... lady at the garden store says i can even dump it in my compost tea! apparently this bacteria is commonly found in mychorizza in a bag products ( roots oregonism, great white maybe? )

garden is looking good

feenom, serenity wont help much for pm once its showing. you can brew it up tho, i do. go grab some organic whole milk. dilute it 30% with pure ro water and spray in the morning. search ur garden for any non mj plants that might be acting as the carrier- remove them. remember your entire garden is one unit. spray all plants, not just infected ones and not just mj. also, since youre in flower, forget about any sulfur based products.

buy some potasium bicarbonate (different than sodium bicarb) and spray that too, alternating with the milk. i fuckin hate pm.

so far so good out here. toms calcium program gets major major props. pm is lurking out there in my garden though, had to yank all the remaining grape plants.

ps- trinity gold is an organic farmer bro. check out his fungal tea brew method.

 am i allowed to ask a question?

are you suggesting the only way to get the max yield is with salty chems ?
that's what I though, feenom, but I guess I ought to just keep my fucking mouth shut like nommad said. You're good though, I think, fire away! heheheheh

I am investing heavily in trichogramma wasps... I will try that source as PVGS is lagging on restock.

I have some PM on my Bubba that was uncovered in the process of pruning... now that the airflow and sun penetration is better, it is not spreading at all.

humboldtlocal told me about a colleague of his that will take anything that has PM on it immediately at harvest and submerge entire branches into a kiddie pool with water and a few ounces of H2O2 before hanging them to dry... no difference between the same bud that finished without PM and the ones subjected to the dunk.

TG, correct me if I am wrong, but I am pretty sure all he was saying was that it makes no sense to use complex fungal and microbial teas while you are using stuff like GrowMore ferts in the same fertigation system because the Blue Stew will neutralize all the living goodness in the teas.

yeah PVGS is blowing it this year they were outta the brix mix liquid for a while .... according to their website they are done selling the trichs for the season??? make sure you get rid of those PM leaves u pruned... fuckin spores...

localhero-thanks for the heads up i'v never dealt with PM before as I've always had room in my beds but this year we started em earlier and they got huge! i am going to hit em with the potassium bicarbonate in the morning for certain. then i'll spray the serenade on the ones in the bed that don't have it.... how much do u put in your tea ?

I sprayed the pruned leaves with a caustically strong dose of Potassium Bicarb and then removed them from the garden. But my fenceline is crawling with sweet pea which has a 2mm deep coating of the stuff on it. Its unreal. Last year, PM was not a serious problem at all.

Make sure you agitate your potssium bicarbonate constantly throughout the application. We had some serious burn from failing to do so last year.

Eagle20 fungicide ...

No its not organic of course but seems to be extremely effective ....but have been using Eagle20 for pm with stellar results .
Its strong , systemic ( liquid "systhane") can be used right up to day of harvest for stone fruits pear , cherries, peach , apples , nectarines...though would think 20days out would be safe for herb . First choice for pm control in the rose grower world & shrub ornamentals . Sure you guys have heard of it , appreciate the comments :

Here's Eagle20 product label PDF with warnings & application rates

Eagle20small.jpg

Indoors have used as a preventitive treatment in the early 1rst 2weeks of flowering...only one treatment w/surficant , keeps the PM at bay .

Hey Nomaad....Much respect for tellin things as they are and as they unfold.........regardless.....

What HL told yas about the "Peroxide dunk and hang" thingy was widely publicized at OG and CW back in the day , and was the rule of thumb for all the PNW growers at the time......

Guess it`s applicable elsewhere .....Had one old head round your parts yrs ago swear by his well water and just sprayin and soakin the shit out of em right at harvey if they had any powder on em............

Soulie swore tap water full of chlorine sprayed on all his OD plants at harvey killed any signs of PM before chop and hang........

Fightin that shit with potassiun bicarbonate`s gotta be rough huh ?......Can`t spray milk on buncha big ass plants like you grow either...........

Take care and good luck Bro......DHF.....:ying:.......
