There have been a few summer storms with strong winds lately, so I tied the 10-or-so bottom branches of the Haze with strings to the main stem. Not as helpful as using sticks or net for support, but also not as obvious. I use a traditional string made of cannabis fiber, called "kanap" here. Used to be very popular, I don't know where they import it from now, since cannabis hasn't been grown for fiber in my country since 1978.

A glimpse at the Haze trunk:

I can't wait for the flowering to start :) Should be any time now for the Papaya, I hope the Haze will start till the end of the month.

The Papaya has strong rigid branches which all go upwards tightly together, so I don't think she'll need any support. Besides she's surrounded by bushes, so winds shouldn't get too strong. I was surprised to see that these tough branches are actually hollow and sound like bamboo when knocking on them. The biggest branches have cracks as if this plant is not designed to get that big...

The bottom trunk is ok, though a bit funny looking because the main stem itself hasn't increased its diameter in a while, while the branches still do:

The stems of the Haze are getting a very nice shade of gold and lime green, that glisten under the sun, with beautiful purple and red streaks.

A quick update.

The Papaya started flowering around the 14th of August, the Haze still isn't. Both doing fine, only the Haze had one branch broken by the strong winds, I thought it'd recover but it didn't. The photos are from the 19th of August.

There are many wild hemp plants in my area, so my plants inevitably get pollinated to some degree. So far so good, there are only a few pollinated flowers (mainly pre-flowers) on the Papaya. Last 2 times visiting the plants I manually removed each seeded pod, or rather most of them. After these operations with the Papaya my fingers smell great - very sweet and exotic, with a thick hashy base, I can't stop smelling them.

And still waiting for the Haze...

We had a storm a week ago and when I paid a visit to the plants this weekend I saw what I feared - 2 of the Haze's branches were broken and, more unfortunately, the Papaya had fallen sideways on a heap of organic waste next to it. Seems like the ground bellow it became too wet, like mud (there was a pouring rain for a whole hour in the city) and so the winds bent the plant without breaking the stem or many roots.
I nailed a solid stick next to it, and watering again moved the plant backwards and tied it to the stick. The plant seems fine and heading into flowering.
Unlike the Haze which still hasn't started flowering, only showing tiny pre-flowers.

The broken Haze branches were big, but the plant is not much different without them...

And a few happier shots :)
The Papaya doesn't seem too affected, not much progress but no damage either:

So far the Haze offers only stems and leaves for the show, nice ones though.

Thanks for the encouragement, people :)
It's the 9th of September and there's no rain in the 10-day weather forecast, nice.

The Haze looks like is just about to start flowering, but she looks like this the last 2 weeks. It's frustratingly slow, and strengthens my impression that this patch of soil is too rich in nitrogen for the pure sativas. The Full Moon (Thai hybrid) last year went great, though with lush dark leaves, but its a hybrid with some indica genes. The pure Eldorado (Oaxacan) last year and now the Haze seem not to be able to handle it - the Eldorado hermying and the Haze having difficulty to flower. Hopefully, the shortening day and the coming new moon will help the situation.
