I've been off IC mag for a bit. The Nigerian Haze preservation project was a success. There were 2 females and 3 males. One male exhibited the more Nevil Haze traits.

The current project is JJ's Nigerian F1. This is The first version made. JJ selected the most nld hazy male from Nevil's original pre-90 5haze and the Nigerian Silk clone only.

JJ "from the original Sensi pack before they changed the design". These were just repacked 5haze from Nevil's The Seed Bank

The pack was provided by Chemtentflodo on IG.
5 made it through embryo rescue. 4 females and 1 male. These are the siblings of JJ's selection of JJ's Nigerian that is in Nigerian Haze and all subsequent lines.

I am very excited about these. This is an original C5 male to a pure sativa. All plants are exhibiting the curl leaf mutation or the original Nevil's 5haze.

There is only 1 that is the stature of a hybrid. The NL5 in there. The others are equatorial haze build. From 15-year-old pack to 15-year-old pack reaching all the way back.

I will also say great to hear from you @Stoneguru and get an update on this project.

I have such limited knowledge but do greatly appreciate the dedication and thorough details you provide on every journal of yours I took the time to read.

This one is obviously very special and looks to be a great success so far. I’m following along just to see you succeed. I feel like a distant cousin watching from the hospital lobby if that makes any sense……

Doing even limited updates here is understandable and appreciated.

Kudos to you all!!!

Thank you @Airloom 🙏🏼. I hope your journey for your ol'Thai is coming along too!

I looked back on this thread and realized I didn't conclude the Nigerian Haze (JJ's Nigerian x O-haze) preservation report before jumping into JJ's Nigerian.

There were some sharper notes and incense, but she was fully seeded so I didn't get the best impression.

The seed was included in the 2024 haze collection.

The male was definitely favoring the 5haze side and had the mutations and a strong stem rub. The goal was accomplished of preservation, but there was only 1 male so only one version

I will rerun this cut and get it a little of the JJ's Nigerian pollen.

This would effectively be an out-back. JJ's selection of JJ's Nigerian/O-Haze crossed to the JJ's Nigerian male In this collection. That may open up a range of potentials that get somewhat bottlenecked.

Thanks brother, how are you?

Well today forums isn't are what's used to be

The golden years of forums are gone
What I can say is wherever you feel most appreciated, stay there.
I'm still on forums just for the good old friends I can still find around
Very grateful. Family is wonderful. We are almost done building the primary features of our off-grid cabin. Been saying that for awhile, but keeps going.

I've been scrolling to catch up and for the most part it seems like I might be. Tom's is looking great on his selection criteria.

It does seem like things have quieted down. Maybe IG or discord pealed off a bunch.

Forum is still a great way to document. How about on the Mexican lines. Anything exciting or interesting on that front? I put out an inquiry on the trichome stems a while back and nothing came back for land race Colombian or Thai for that haze trait.

A strong indicator that the early Mexican selections are coming through on the haze that I like.

Have you noticed it on any of your Mexican hunts?

..sure "the old forum days" were exciting because everything was new ...

and now there are so many varieties..but

i think the sativa possibilities have expanded and we have people like you to thank

its pretty golden now but I know your dedication and others here..

are gonna keep the faith
That's how I feel about it. The crew of haze enthusiasts actively breeding is relatively small, but they have collectively brought back haze more in the last 2 years then the last 20.

Inadvertently it is Probably because of what they disagree about as much as what they do agree about.

It seems in some circles it's diving right back into haze hybrids...and having just barely skirted on its potential again.

I'm more than happy shooting the shit with those haze heads in it for the long journey 😅

JJ's Nigerian has some biggy heads. All those old 5haze smells. It's all there in ratios. Not one is quiet... Rich, full seductive and gassy with liver metal wood and Incense notes all mixed. It's good and nothing clashes, but it's also all mixed together rather than isolations. Brings me back to that time.

Not having the reference of its full potential It is easy to comprehend how 5haze was selected in different directions but not necessarily back to haze or cleaned up.

JJ said these were original pack and based on what I have here it's confirmed. The flip side. In the 4 females I don't have the male C haze outlier I remember with the full pineneedle frankincense fuel. That one was probably always a 1:20 or more anyway

The most important part is this is out to Nigerian, and not further adulterated to BLD and/or inbreeding at this stage.

This is the closest thing I know of to the original aside from a few cuts floating around out there.. everything the 5C could be is right there.

With the male on each one and all the combinations I'll be able to break it open in a generation to anything in there with this count

Alpine Haze 1.0 (K2 cut) x JJ's Nigerian F1

1000001141.jpg

This is the first line JJ's Nigerian male is being tested on. It's also a potential parental stock.

I hunted the Alpine Haze 1.0 over a couple years. 6 rounds. K2 cut was one of my favorites.

1000000619.jpg

K2 is clean strong fresh and hazy blue spruce rather than the effervescent fir needle. Also with ripe fruit. apple, mango. K2 is Heavily male C profile association. frankincense of Silk S on the burn.

A lot of the potent Nevil's has an uncomfortable trippy DMT like come on. I know a lot of people like that. K2 not so much. comes out of nowhere. Bright exuberant waves of energy without anxiety. I'll think why to I feel so damn good about everything. Then realize. I'm high As fuck.

The best male I ever found made the Alpine 1.0 and it was lost to mislabel or I would keep it still. Nicknamed Buzzsaw.
1000001147.png

He was sibling to the mother. Both were clear outliers in the 88 they came from. He lend an array of top notes, massive vigorous growth. Any haze type between his 2 progeny below and more came out.

1000000618.jpg

1000000937.png

The male also Added trichomes all up and down the stems which is a trait I remember in the original 5haze haze outlier, and id prominent in the cut.

1000000464.jpg

1000000465.jpg

The K2 was among the most dominant in the Buzzsaw Male and only kept the frankincense of Silk S mom.

The Alpine 1.0 K2 x JJ's Nigerian seedings mostly track the Buzzsaw male which I am very happy about.

With the back drop of knowing the parents, siblings and cousins of K2 very well it will be easier to learn about the JJ's Nigerian in the cross.

My hope of these testers is that it works as a way of breeding backwards since the K2 has most of the best haze traits of male C in the 5haze. JJ's Nigerian is sequentially far close being only outcrossed to NL and back to Nigerian.

The hope is that this will open up and unlock more types. Generally 2 right moves yield a 3rd welcome surprise. If the testers look good I will probably open up a larger hunt for one of the next parents.

The goal is to build all the parental lines. On this project itself the JJ's Nigerian Haze x JJ's Nigerian out and backcross is happening today.

This is looking like something very special. I’m following along sending kudos to you and strength for the journey ahead.

I nearly grabbed some Nigerian Haze F3 because I can’t stand the suspense of waiting!! Your description of effects are enough to keep me hanging on though. Looking forward to your next update.

The Alpine Haze is my heart project.

Right now in testing

SILK S x JJ's Nigerian F1

And K2 x JJ's Nigerian F1

Talking to a friend who tested all the nigerian said the JJ's was extremely potent. Extremely lol.

The B7 profiles I love. It's also extremely potent.

These 2 are in the same wheel house in potency and also pedigree.

The JJ's male was from Nevil's original nl5 Haze pack only outcrossed once to Nigerians.

There's only a couple cuts out there with genetics that close.

The profiles of B7 and JJ's are like a time machine to that time.

Here's the thing. While very potent, I don't consider either to have the most novel and unique equatorial effect.

The clean equatorial energies a bit murky being substituted with a sledgehammer potency. Maybe haze potency with NL effect, but that's just speculation.

The Silk S and K2 are the best effects of haze/Equatorial for me.

The question with these testers is whether the effect will make it through and clean up the NL type effect.

I am only testing a few of each right now and love what's coming through. Time will tell what ratio comes forward, but the synergy's of profiles definitely works

The JJ's Nigerian OP only resulted in 5 females, 1 male. Not really an OP but that male is proven to be doing nice with these ladies.

The guarantee would be Alpine 1.0 line work. The keeper males and females of the line will all be recombined. The last rounds of the F1 are going and keeper females all reversed for pollen. The males are all being reversed for profile and smoked for effect with a goal of different isolations

It will be a very organized OP with every combination as an isolation. This .not so OP OP is what I ultimately want people to have.

It will be all the best of what I love about haze.

I can easily understand each plant’s effect as you describe them, which is rarely the case.

From my first read of your Alpine quest on another site, I was really excited and intrigued. I missed out on that collection but it’s worked out quite well in the end.

I also gotta say thanks for the encouragement to follow Dwight on LinkedIn. That gave me the push I needed to search out his work. I found some of his stuff and others as well at Dagga.

FWIW, that kind of selfless encouragement makes the setbacks easier to push through.

The v2 of Alpine 1.0 will be the best of over 200 in a line that has been hard to cull down.

We enjoy the same effect. You won't miss it when it's ready. What type of projects did you dive into? What are the highlights?

Having given up growing for decades, I found myself retired and isolated by unemployment and COVID. With the relaxation of laws in my state, I found my wife could no longer stop me from pursuing my passion once again. My skills are minimal and my self discipline is day to day. I have a great collection of seeds and a fear of dying without growing them all…..

That is not a project at all is it?

I sometimes think I should change my user name to DQ or ChasingWindmills.

I always enjoyed growing cannabis and I am grateful to have lived to see it liberated from its prison.

That is enough
