hey moonshine just looked at the lowes cab and cant really tell to good but lookd like the doors are on the inside of the cab and if thats the case looks like it will be nearly impossible to get them to seal now you could add some door stops on the inside of the cab then you could seal the box that way but for few more bucks you could get a c-22 or 24 or what every there called and get one hell of a grow box

Ordinary Joe what's up.. i just told her with out a car how he going to get back and forth to work my truck needs repairs and med bills are piling up so she ask me to watch 6 of her dogs and a cat and i flipped out and said hell no but lucky her lil gurl called a few friends and got em to watch 5 of the dogs so she ask me to watch one dog and the cats so i said yes and so far its been kind of nice been a few years sine i had any pets but its kind of fun but worries me that i may have to go spend some time in the hospital whet to the doc today for the results of my liver test and the nurse told me to go back to the hospital to be tested for hepatitis starting to scared me my last test must have been of the wall for him not to even want to see me till i get tested for hepatitis.

just transplanted 6 baby's into 6 oz dixey cups today they starting to stretch to much so had to raise em closer to the lights now i just thought of anouter inpovement to the box it needs a adjustable self for seeds start getting to be a pain in the ass trying to find stuff to place under them so what i will do is add some holes on both sides and get some wooed dowels for pegs and get me a wire self and cutt to fit and that will solve that problem. al so i am working on adding the dryer hose to my home made hood hope to have it finish by tomorrow minus the glass. all so trying mirual grow organic potting soil will see how good it works i notis on the bag after i transplanted them it has chicken shit in it lol hope i dont burn then up

Just shooting out some ideas Moonshine.

I think you could use either cabinet. All you have to do to light proof the box would be to chalk all the inside seams. Then slice open about 4 big black garbage bags and layer them together and tape them together. Use this as a curtain. Use thumbtacks to fasten it to the top along the front so when it comes down it is over the top crack of the doors. Let it fall down over the doors then fold it back over the side cracks (where door is attached to sides) and thumbtack it in place. All you do is unthumbtack the sides and flip the curtain up and open the doors.

By itself the $65 cabinet is better because the extra width will be better than the extra height of the $35 cabinet. However, even with limited carpentry skills you could buy two $35 cabinets for $70 (just $5 more than 1 of the other) and join them together. This would give you the 31.5 inches of height but most importantly 24 inches of depth. That will really increase your yields. This will give you 24" x 24" (4 sq ft) of grow area. In 6" x 6" x 6" pots (almost 1 gal like .93) you could fit 16 of them in that footprint (4 rows of 4). That would give you a super SOG grow. If you decided to scrog you would have a very nice 4 sg ft canopy of buds. Heck you could even grow 4 nice bushes in 2 gallon 8" x 8" x 8" pots.

Joining the cabinets would be easy. You will have to assemble whatever cabinet you get so you have to be able to do that. Put the cabinets together but don't put the back on one and don't put the doors on the other. Lay the one with the back on on the floor open side up. Put the other cabinet on top with the doors up. Line them up good. Now take a pack of 2 simple cabinet hinges. Fasten one on one side, in the middle, so each side of the hinge is screwed into one of the cabinets. Now do the same in the other side. Presto you just joined them together. Now stand it up. Duct tape all along where the 2 cabinets joint. Now you have a perfect box to start mounting lights and drilling vent holes etc.

This would be a great box for a 250w HPS or a 150w HPS and two 42W CFLs. The 150 plus the 84w of cfl is 234w of light is 58.5 watts per square foot. A 250w HPS and 84w cfl is 334 w of light (83.5w/sq ft).

Seedlings look stretched some. But your on your way to another grow.

thanks tarzan yeah i let them stretch was my fault i was busy helping the girl friend move for 2 days and didn't get the chance to get them closer to the light thats why the next box i build it will have a adjustable self will make it a lot easer than finding stuff to put under the pots to keep em at the right height

Hey stevr, glad to hear you are getting some answers from your Doctor, my mom suffers from liver disease. You are young enough to be able to make good choices about your lifestyle and get things back on a healthy track, I know you can.

Good question about what effects eating herb would have on the liver. You need to watch all medications to include tylenol and such OTC meds, they are all processed through the liver and seems the effect is cumulative.

You should have really good, nicely cured herb waiting when you are ready to toke again. That is something to look forward to!

hey pomh nice to see you dropping by i am doing the best i can i have stop drinking been 3 weeks now eating a lot more friute and veggys i feel a lot better than i have been hope to know about my liver next week i just know the doc could not feel it swollen so i hope thats a good sign and for meds i only take what the doc tells me to take an i stay a way from any otc drugs other than bear aspirin which they told me to take for my heart i just got done cutting an acher of weeds and grass with a push mower and so far i feel good
and i got a 1/4 pounds of buds still in the curing jar from nov. been glad when i can break some out and see how good it is.

hey guy's just got some new pic's in and i am done with my air cooled hood. I cut it down some so i can center the light better, and got my glass installed as well. and fixing to drop 2 baby's into the swc tomorrow. was going to do all soil grow but there not doing to good so this way i know i can save at lest 2 of them but don't know males from females and knowing my luck both would end up being males. but any way's here are the new pics.

well its now day 23 and there doing some what better, since i re potted and added some blood and bone meal and cow manure. all so got my new 150 hps bulbs in yesterday only 5.95 each not bad at all. lost one transplant in the swc to shock and over ferts the other one is trying and looks like it will be ok. it roots just touched the water today so i am hoping it will make it. here are 2 new pic i took today.

well i was just checking my grow out and dam it i found spider mites i swear every winter i get em bad lost 3 plants last winter to them well looks like war any one got any good cheap cure to get rid of them i don't have funds to by any thing.

Hello all,

Steve, I use NPS in the box....I am organic in my growing but when it comes to pests....nuke the bastards.

Before I made the vent changes, I would just use one and put it in the first chamber and let it flow through the system. I would leave them for about two weeks and remove and repackage as they are not dead (I reuse the package and then a ziplock bag).

Good luck, you have to move early before they get out of control.

hey minds i have use the NPS last year and i do say they work but i used the mite eracator recipe and that work this time and was ready to go buy some nps if this did't work but so far i have not seen any mites and fixing to spray one more time in a few days to make sure i got em

Good to hear you got rid of the mite problem Steve.

As to your soil issues I have no experience with MG products but others say is ok.
I hear it is a chicken compost soil...I use a ckicken compost coil also and am having steller results this run. I am so happy with Kellogg's Patio Plus that I am going with it instead of FFOF. Not because its half the price (about 5 bux a bag) but because it lasts longer in my opinion with no deficiencies. I just use ewc/guano/molasses/kelp teas with boosts of Alaska fish and EJBloom.

Perhaps you just need to wait out the healing process from the mites?? Just a thought.

hey minds i think my lowes has the kellogg patio plus soil fixing to run in th next day or so and pick some up. what else do you add to your mix? i got 50 pounds of cow manure blood and bone meal and lime not sure if i need to pick up some peat and veramite as well and i do need to get some perlite as i am out of it, the main reson my plants are doing so bad is som guy gave me a bad soil reacpie and thats what been killing them it was way to hot he had me mix up 0ne cup of bone and bloodmeal and lime to a 2 gallon mix of mg oragin potting soil with one gallon of cow manre , but the mg oraginc soil with out any thing else other than perlite did good for a week then they turned pale green then like a fool i transplanted to a hotter mix and then the mites hit try to save one by transplanting it to the swc but it didnt make it so now out of 6 plants i now have 4 left and 3 may not make it if i dont do some thing soon

Steve, my mix for soil is Kellogg/ewc/perlite at 50%/20%/30% and it works well for me. Also I use anout a 2 teaspoons of D.lime/gallon of soil also.

Its not for seedlings - way to hot for them I think...I start my seedlings in spent soil so as to not burn them. But two weeks is good to go in the kelloggs soil mix.

I do not start to feed in this soil till 3-4 weeks has passed...you will start to see it in the plants.

I have noticed it lacks magnesium (but that could be my water).

I use a premix because I am in disabled and its just a convenience to have it in a bag already. If I were younger or more energenic I would mix my own I think.

hello again minds i got to ask this but what is ewc? i transplanted 2 of them today and i notice the worse one the roots just fell off in my handsnot shure if it was from the hot mix i had em in or from to much water dont think it will survive what i did to day was go out in the woods to my spot i grew last year and dug up the old fox farm dirt and mixed it with cow manrue some compost i had made ashes frowm all the paper i brunt a lil bit of white buliders sand for plants over 30 days old they still look like seedlings but they over 30 days old now and not doing well lol my mom whent to get me some peat moss and came back with 80 pounds of co manrue i told her i all ready had that but she said there all out of peat moss and have to order it seems what lil they had they sold out this week end cuz of this 80 plus weather i will try to get to lowes tommoro and see if i can get some kellogg soil
