MamaD and I spooked one on the north shore of the Caloosahatchee River in Fort Myers. We had a canoe and a nice day so we launched and paddled across the river. I steered us toward a patch of mangroves and that's where the big black monster of alligator was minding his own bidness. Well over 10' and quick into the river with a splash that rocked the canoe. It went right below us and disappeared into the dark water.

She agrees it was a great game. She shared the highlight reel with me about 2A today. Jefferson was catching everything on the purple side of the line.

I did some crack yesterday.

are those papers shell or native pecans?…

IMG_2974.jpeg

we had both varieties when I lived in Oklahoma

frailed a few trees and spent many hours on my hands and knees back in the day

never picked cotton but it sounds worse than picking pecans

I knew 2 brothers that would pick pecans and sell them at the piggy wiggly in GA.pecans are my favorite.went to JJs again.its not bad but there's like no seasoning in their breading.thats why they have a bunch of sauces.chicken tenders, okra,I hate okra and my mom got a perch sandwich.not bad for 26 bucks i guess

Youre going to keep seeing that replay this season, Hawk, people are going to use this game as an example of poor coaching (bears also fumbled the ball at the goal line earlier in the 4th qtr when they gave it to a backup offensive lineman for some reason) and selfish play (tyrique jawing at the crowd and then not covering the backside receiver).

Steelers pulled away in the 2nd half, if it wasnt for giants RB tyrone tracy running for 150yds and a TD it wouldnt have been as close. Daniel jones had a decent amt of passing yds but of course threw a game sealing pick at the end.

Not sure what that defensive lineman was doing, trying to twist herbert's lower leg to bring him down, i guess he didnt see herbert had already thrown the ball but tackling below the knees like that is a no-no, both got flagged for roughness penalties. Good thing herbert was fine.

Are the squirrels invading ur home, Hawk? Dont let them make nests in the attic, unless u want it smelling like animal droppings.

When u said JJ's i thought u meant Jimmy johns when i saw the sandwich, then i realized u meant JJ's fish and chicken.
Underseasoned food is criminal, hawk, like u said it doesnt take much effort to throw some S&P on some meat or in some breading. Sometimes i think some restaurants do that on purpose so their customers can salt it to their preference. Did u throw some salt on there to make the flavors pop? Im surprised JJ's wasnt well seasoned, i havent been there in ages but i remember their food being pretty salty...

Okra for an Okie, Bigsur? Sounds appropriate. Have u ever had an oklahoma onion burger? George Motz, the 'world's greatest burger scholar', says it's basically his favorite burger of all time.

Ive had fried okra and it was just alright to me, never understood why it was so popular, i guess it's pretty healthy for a fried vegetable so there's that. Texture was my issue with it, seemed chewy even when cooked, and it's kind of slimy as well, like aloe. But i guess that's what makes it healthy....

So it was a halloween costume dinner? You both look the part. MamaD is rocking the dress and glasses perfectly. And that's a cool walking stick. Did u buy or make that yourself?
The young folks who hosted the party got married on Halloween four years ago. She wore Day of the Dead makeup and walked down the "aisle" to Led Zeppelin. They have a soft spot for us two old people. We are honored to be invited. There were a lot of salty and sweet snacks, hot dishes, and some bourbon to sip. No flower smoking with all of the babies around.
The stick is one of a pair of sticks that came from Texas on a motorcycle. Our friend in Texas who hosted the Eclipse Gathering made them for us. The wood is Bois d'arc aka osage orange, or horse apple. One of its uses is to make bows. The branches are very thorny and it was a labor of love to collect them and finish them. I think he used 2000 grit sand paper for the final finish before the varnish. The feel of the stick is smooth like glass with the warmth of wood. I cannot imagine the ride on two wheels with those two sticks. We are expecting them to come for a visit in April.
also great picture buzz.thats cool as hell
Thanks, Man. It was a good chance to let my hair down. I had to modify my costume due to atmospheric conditions. . . 90F in late October is no time to be wearing a serape that has been with me since a 1976 excursion through Mexico to Panama.
like hey man, i thought you were going to dress up for halloween
You forget what my Dad used to say, "Don't think. You weaken the team."
are those papers shell or native pecans?…
The ones in the bucket are paper shells from the tree in the backyard. I believe the tree in the front is native due to their smaller oilier nut meats and harder shells. Picking up pecans is much better than picking mangoes and avocados. I have not picked cotton either, @bigsur51 . I hear it's a drag.

I hate okra

The Great Okra Divide! I am a fan of fried okra. Oh the crunchy savory hot goodness and cornmeal crunch of an okra nugget makes my mouth water. Then the Okie pecan picker upper shouts out fried green tomatoes and I need a drool bucket.

Our friends came back from Mississippi with some bugs. I threw them in the kitchen sink and tore their heads off. We ate some for dinner. MamaD did them up Maryland style steamed in Old Bay.

Wilson was slinging some passes last night and the Steeler run game was strong. I did not know that Wilson was a Steeler now. Another QB whose name I know for crab legs is a Brownie now. Famous Jameis Winston is QB1 in Cleveland. How about that!

if they had them out and for the taking you could have leaned on those, i like a good hot mustard or garlic sauce
there is still plenty of football left in the season

stopped by kfc on the way home and got some chicken and the girl was nice and threw in a free side of mashed potatoes
its game 4 of the world series and we will see if the dodgers can sweep the yankees, im kind of hoping it goes to game 5

Heh, didnt even realize Buzz's outfit was somewhat incomplete. A serape in hot humid weather is a no go, i agree Buzz. Everything else was on point.

I think ive had fried green tomatoes before and liked them, makes me wonder if i should try them again, if i can find a place that serves them. Doesnt seem that hard to make myself, either.

Jameis in his 1st wk starting has a 300yd passing game, which deshaun watson wasnt able to do in 19 starts. Truly a toxic situation for watson and the fans there, maybe jameis can inject some fun into that franchise again.

I thought JJ's fish and chicken only had 'mild sauce' (which is like a thin sweet bbq sauce) and 'hot sauce' (louisiana style hot sauce)? At least that's what all the chicken and fish joints in chicago have, maybe tartar sauce for the fish but that's it.

Yankees pounded the dodgers and it's 3-1, does anyone think they can come back to force a game 7? No?

Whiskey and juice, Hawk? Doesnt sound too appetizing, what kind of whiskey and what kind of juice?

Thank you, @Bababooey . My bell bottoms and paisley shirts were long gone, but the serape was ready to come out of the cedar chest.

I meant to answer you about the family dinner and trying to outdo each other. I think collectively we try to make a good meal for each other. New recipes are served guinea pig style. LOL

As long as he is throwing to the guys in the same color uniforms as he is wearing the fun will start. I was totally surprised to see him on the field. He had a great game to make 1 in a row for the Browns.

i was glad to see the yankees win one last night
i thought they had cleaned up the crime in ny but that episode with teh fans and the player catching a pall was criminal, but im looking forward to game 5 tonight
the texans play the jets tomorrow night and im wondering if this is it for a.rog
im all for the return of crab legs and am pretty much ready to write off d.watson as one huge dumpster fire in a franchise known for its dumpster fires
after what they gave up to land this guy i think this officalls qualifies and a bust

/the computer is acting funny so im going to reboot...more to come

You have been wearing those mashed taters. Just sayin', Robbie

Dodgers win the Series in 5. I turned away from the game during a commercial and when I switched back the score was even at 5-5. OOF! go the Yanks.
