we will see if the zack attack was for real but he came out after the half like a totally different qb
i saw that rodgers was sitting upstairs and not on the side line
i dont know if thats where i would sit if i was the veteran starter hoping to mentor a young qb, but hes been paid
even if you are in street clothes you should be with your team, not sipping fancy drinks in the owners box
i guess fields is the starter for the rest of the season and hopefully he can show a glimmer of nfl ability; more for his sake than the bears
like you mentioned baba, the bears could have two top picks in the next draft and there are some fancy new qbs coming out next year
hes just auditioning for his next gig at this point
even when he is not hurt, herbert is no j.hurts or josh allen
i can see what you mean about k.will being a three down back
he seems to have have good hands and is really strong for a guy his size, plus he has some speed when he can get into the open field
like you said baba, burrows cant throw the ball deep and is just asking to get hurt
even if it meant taking an L now i would rather they sit him out and let him heal up rather than risk him getting rg3'd
yeah! where is @subrob and @BuckeyeGreen; we need their taeks!

the ribs look decent hawk and i always like burnt ends, but as you mentioned chicken can get a little tough when you get it at places
i usually aviod it but for $15 that is a grinding box of food!
the pulled pork looks awesome and i like pulled pork biggly
yeah thats the sauce! it has a kick but goes good with meat
this chick sounds like a who ball of mess man
that sucks that you never got to sit down with the guy and hear his secrets to smoking meat but its not that hard
low and slow, with a nice rub gets you where you want to go
some people will do all kinds of fancy shit to their meat and i do wrap my stuff with some flavor in foil while cooking

I remember u telling me the story about how ur cellie was going to teach u how to bbq but then killed himself and ur dad hooked up with his crazy ex who made him off himself. That’s some weird, wild stuff Hawk. I never tire of hearing that story. Now im just waiting for the final act in which u take up with this crazy broad.

Fields definitely has a turnover issue, especially with potential game winning drives (threw a pick 6 vs tampa in the 4th quarter as well) but passing up that go ahead field goal at the end was all the head coach’s (Eberflus) fault. Fields defended the decision tho, cause if they converted they would have pretty much won the game, but in hindsight it was the wrong move.

Yeah Pops, zach was decisive and quick with his passes, like Fields it seems like if he just makes 1 or at most 2 reads and then throws then he performs a lot better than if u make him progress through 3-4-5 reads.
Rodgers was still on crutches so I think there’s still a risk if he’s on a sideline, a ball carrier could come flying through and he couldn’t protect himself, with a surgically repaired ankle as well. But yeah, if he was able to sit with zach he could have mentored him throughout the game. He said he’s going back to cali to continue to rehab and then come back to NY after their week 7 bye so maybe then he can be present on the sideline.

Honestly I think most bengals fans want burrow to sit out for a bit if this is as good as it’s gonna get when he’s hurt, at this point even Fields would be a better option than a gimpy burrow.

Pops is right, Hawk, u learned cooking from all the food shows u can learn bbq and smoking the same way, or from websites, there’s plenty of cooking sites like icmag for cannabis. But I understand it’s a whole thing u gotta learn and get the proper set up for, need wood or charcoal, more clean up etc. With a steak it’s just easier, just need a cast iron pan and meat and some seasonings, maybe an oven to finish it off, or u do the reverse sear so oven first and then sear later?

thats a great point about how rodgers bad leg kind could keep him off the sidelines
hes out for the year and that would be a smart move, rehabbing the leg a bit and then getting down there to coach up zach when he is more mobile
what do you think the bears could get for fields if they traded him?
stay away from the crazy girls hawk! they will only bring you down man
good smoked meat takes time but its a matter of not letting the fire go out and maintaining an even heat in the smoker
ive smoked stuff in the kettle, not like a real smoker but it came out pretty good for a 3-4 hour cook time
bears v commanders tomorrow night! fields gets to show off what he has on the big stage and hopefully will rise to the occasion

I know zach was playing better during the preseason with rodgers on the sidelines giving him advice, but rodgers wont be in the stadium for their next 2 games, vs the broncos and eagles. Broncos gave up a 300yd 4td pass game to Fields so if zach cant put up #’s vs them the boos will start again.

Not sure what fields would go for, maybe a 2nd? Maybe a 3rd and a 4th? Who would trade for him tho? Atlanta doesn’t like their QB, Patriots and Giants arent happy either, Burrow is gimpy, maybe Vegas?
But the bears wouldn’t trade him unless Bagent, their undrafted rookie backup, can prove he’s marginally better, which will probably only happen with a fields injury.

Ok, so the kettle grill isnt a true smoker, u cant maintain the temp for more than a few hours? Bigger cuts like pork shoulders and briskets need like 10+ hrs at 215-225F for a good slow cook.

If you know what your doing you can pretty much smoke a brisket in a kettle grill.gotta keep adding wood and maintaining temps.probably harder than it sounds.probably need experience.

Well bears are probably gonna get whooped.i know it's good to have the draft pics but they never do good with them anyway so it's moot.whens the last time the bears made a good pic?

no a true smoker is this box with a box on the side i guess, you dont want to heat source too close to the meat, but you want to heat to radiate and the smoke to bathe the food
a full sized kettle would make a decent smoker, you could pour a lot of coals in it and you just put it all to one side or spread them out on the sides, depending on where you put your meat
i was jsut posting when hawk swooped in!
like he said if you want to go for a super long smoke you have to replenish the fuel to keep the smoke going
we will see if there are any big trades here in the enxt few weeks
i agree that the bears are not really going to trade field at this point unless a deal lands in their laps; a 3rd and 4rth? maybe a third but i dont see him being really that marketable right now
pawts and the giants are in the same boat as the bears with young qbs who just arent cutting it, so trading for another mediocre young qb would just be a stunt move; something that dosent really bring much value to the team but makes it look like you are trying to kicking some ass
got a bag of tots yesterday at vons! they are super good when you cook them in the toaster oven and im a big fan of any fried potatoe dish

whats on the menu hawk? how about you baba, you know you want to have some grinds tonight while you watch the bears game

not even worried about the bears game.i gotta find a site to stream it anyway so guess ill see what happens.you got anything going on for the bears game baba?

After a very busy couple of weeks and now back to report on the Browns.
Things were thought or hoped to be true that are not. The story of when the glue fails and when talent evaluators can’t evaluate talent.
The story begins with the first mistake. Well the first mistake could go back many, many years but I’ll talk about a more recent mistake. Hue Jackson is hired as head coach and goes 3 and 36. He goes 1 and 15, 0 and 16 and the 2 and 7 and is fired. The defensive coordinator Greg Williams is given the temporary head coaching job and goes 5 and 2 with the very same players Jackson could not win with at all.
Now you would think that ownership and management would look at that result and choose Williams as the permanent new head coach. That would make sense because he won with the very same players who could not win at all with the previous coach. They hire Freddy Kitchens.
Who the fuck is Freddy Kitchens? Exactly. They also make a huge mistake and sign the perennial whining diva and Giants trouble maker OBJ to a big contract. Of course Kitchens fails miserably and OBJ contributes nothing and is on the sideline in a hoody all the time hurt. Same thing the next season with OBJ as well.
They hire Stefanski, Baker now has experience, plays well, Chubb goes for 1500, 11 and 5, win a game in the playoffs, go to KC and barely loses. The future is bright.
Baker has a partial labrum tear in his left shoulder in game 2, is cleared to play for the next game, injures the same shoulder even worse in that game and now it’s a full tear. Cleared to play, should not have played the rest of the season, doesn’t look himself at all-just like Burrow this year, OBJ ( who hasn’t done shit since they signed except stand on the sideline collecting checks), starts to bitch he isn’t getting the ball, divides the team and gets Baker kicked out of town.
They give Watson an insane contract and here we are. Going into the season we knew we had the best running back in the league but actually he was underrated and I’ll tell you why. The Browns gave big contracts to a couple of their offensive linemen because they thought they were good based on how well they were running the ball the last few seasons. They didn’t evaluate them closely enough.
Nick Chubb was actually manufacturing almost all of those yards all by himself! Now that Nick is not there, suddenly those supposedly excellent offensive linemen can’t run block at all. So the O line was not evaluated properly. We also thought Stefanski was a good coach. After all he was named coach of the year two years ago. Fool’s Gold. After the Kitchens debacle any coach would look great. Greg Williams had already proved that a knowledgeable coach could win with the talent we had.
Stefanski is not a good coach. His offense is simplistic, unimaginative and predictable. He hasn’t changed a thing since his first season, teams have caught on and adapted to his scheme, he hasn’t changed it and now it doesn’t work.
We thought Watson was a superstar who would be able to elevate an average receiver corp to a higher level. With the coach making it hard for anyone on offense to succeed with a scheme that doesn’t work and with Watson looking like a player, who now gets no help from the running game, an offensive line that can’t pass block and receivers who can’t get open, an average quarterback.
Nick Chubb was the glue that was holding a broken team together so well we didn’t realize how broken it was. He got hurt, all the broken pieces fell apart and were exposed. It all starts with honest and intelligent talent evaluations. The coaching staff and management should have looked very closely at the offensive line and asked, is Nick getting most of those yards by himself or is the offensive a big part of those yards?
It’s all clear now but people who are supposed to be professional at evaluating talent should have been able to see clearly before they started handing out big contracts to linemen. Stefanski fooled them because he wasn’t a total numb nuts like Kitchens. They thought, well at least he is not a total idiot like Kitchens so it’s definitely an improvement. Yeah it was but not nearly as much as they thought.
A quarterback, regardless of how talented he is, is nothing with no running game, no protection, average receivers and bad play calling. When restoring a broken down old car you need to repair the engine and transmission before you slap on a shiney new coat of paint. The Browns new to do some major repairs if they hope to do anything in the future.
A little late though when you are a quarter of the way down the road to your destination. Knowing them though they will do some panic move and sign a player to some crazy contract. Thinking that one more piece will fix it. Jonathan Taylor looks like their next mistake waiting to happen.
The Browns didn’t realize that Nick Chubb was actually red loctite holding the whole thing together and when that connection broke, the whole thing fell apart and all the broken pieces were exposed.

Yeah, there’s this big ceramic plate that goes in the ceramic cooker when ur smoking so it deflects the heat away and around the meat on the grill. See, Hawk already knows a lot about smoking meats. Did u learn that in prison? Or was that smoking poles? Haha j/k.

Like Pops said it’s a lot easier to replenish coals in a smoker box than if u had to go and take off the meat to get under the grill itself.

I made this pizza in a cast iron pan last month, turned out alright. Made the dough myself and everything, although the sauce came from a jar (rao’s marinara sauce).

That WAS a surprising game last night. Any washington fans here? Howell turned it on in the 2nd half, for a 2nd year QB drafted in the 5th rd he can actually sling the ball some, I guess most people expected him to get drafted earlier but he fell for some reason.
Bears defense, despite missing ¾ of their starters in the secondary, actually looked decent, got a couple turnovers, couple sacks, held their run game in check. Maybe Hawk is right, the spirit of Dick Butkus guided the team to victory.

So ur going to make chicken marsala, Hawk? Isnt that chicken breast sauteed in a white wine mushroom sauce? Sounds delish. I guess if u can make these gourmet meals on a stove I understand why ur not too keen on taking up bbq-ing and smoking.

Yeah Hue going 1-15 his first season only to follow up with 0-16 the next one is just “Wow”. I guess he got the job cause he was Off Coordinator for the bengals and led andy dalton to a sorta-kinda MVP season in 2015, before dalton got hurt. Was the year he got fired baker’s rookie season?
Wasn’t Kitchens the Off Coordinator for baker? I guess with gregg williams’ baggage (bountygate from the saints) I could understand why u don’t give him the HC job and go with the guy most tied to Baker’s success, then again they traded for a sex assaulter in Watson so it’s not like their morals run that deep.
But ur right, Kitchens was way over his head with the head job, he needed more experience/seasoning before taking on all those responsibilities.

Cant argue with u on the OBJ signing, but wasn’t he hardly healthy during his browns stint or am I wrong? He did help the rams win a superbowl fwiw.

You’ll get no argument from me on nick chubb holding everything together on that offense, pretty much every nfl expert thinks he was the best pure RB in the league, the power the moves the vision the speed he had it all. Thankfully it appears only his MCL was fully torn so hopefully he can come back 100% for 2024. Also the browns lost Conklin in week 1, wasn’t he their best O-lineman? But seems like he’s been injured a lot the last few years yet still keeps getting contract extensions, ur right that’s questionable thinking by browns management.

Watson put up some decent stats vs the titans, looked like he was in “F-it” mode and just giving maximum effort. If he can keep the turnovers/risky plays to a minimum while still giving 100% he might end up earning his contract, and even the off-field stuff might go away with time. Plus the browns need him as DTR isnt ready yet, not by a long shot.
At least the D is still elite, if the offense can grind out possessions with watson that should put them in much better position to get after the QB, force turnovers etc.

I thought jerome ford looked decent or no? We’ll see how JT does in his first game back with the colts, whichever team trades for him would have to give him a fairly hefty contract since that’s what he’s looking for. Browns are already paying chubb 12M/yr and JT wants something like 15/yr or so.

hawt taeks buckeye! cant you just put some duct tape on things
but it starts at the top and bad coaching will derail any team
/just look at the chargers wobbling along on two wheels with one of the best qbs in the league
i hope chubb can come back near 100%, that was a nasty injury and if he wasnt an elite athlete to begin with i would say his knee was toast
bringing in JT would be a huge move but now you have two top backs, whe gets the touches?
/plus like baba said taylor is going to want to get paid
/could this also stir up shit with chubb?
watson isnt the qb the browns were hoping to pick up and they owe him big time $$$ so they are kind of stuck with him for now
its not saying cle is a total a total dumpster fire just yet, but when there is smoke...
it got interesting in the 2nd half for sure with the unnamed wash team making a surge in the 2nd half
the bears were able to seal the deal but im sure there were fans having flash backs to last week against den
rams play philly, this is going to be tough; but we get coop back and puka is playing like a def roty
not a fan of obj, he can still catch the ball but i see him as more a distraction on the sidelines and doubt he can still play a whole season
the game im looking forward to is dal v sf on sunday night
sf is also a legit 4-0 and are just playing light out right now but dallas could surprise them

oh wow baba! that looks awesome; like one of those pan pizzas you used to get from the hut
do you butter up the pan before you put in your dough?
me and the mrs used to make out own dough/ bread but she kind of lots interest in it
some pizza places will let you buy fresh dough and maybe i should look into this

ive been meaning to make a pan pizza.that crust looks on point baba.i do recommend making your own sauce though.gonna have to get a new oven first.they got cheap pizza ovens for around $150 but for that price id be skeptical.i guess i could figure out a way to do it on the burner.
got popeyes yesterday.passed out before it got to me so it wasnt hot.dont know if ive ever been to popeyes.it was ok.i got the bacon cheese chicken sandwich.for 6.99 its the best deal as far as value goes.the thing was huge.didnt take a pic cause you all know what it looks like

I actually thought brandon staley would be an alright coach for the chargers when he was hired, he was on the bears staff for a bit as a position coach before being named DC for the rams. He was aggressive in going for it on 4th down his 1st year with the chargers but those decisions largely backfired on him even though ‘analytics’ usually say coaches should go for it on 4th down more than they do. And then the chargers doing chargers things like losing a playoff game when theyre up 27-0 just sunk his reputation even more.

Ur right Pops, that rams-eagles game Sunday afternoon looks like the 2nd best game of the week, next to niners-cowboys. Supposedly kupp is logging full practices so looks like the nerve/hamstring issue is behind him for now. With kupp, puka and tutu at WR, and kyren in the backfield, if stafford can avoid killer turnovers I’d say the rams should win this game. Kupp Puka & Tutu, that sounds like a samoan law firm.
Who do u think wins between 49ers and cowboys?

No butter but plenty of olive oil in the pan, get that nice crispness to the crust, also the burnt cheese along the edges was nice and chewy as well.

You could put bacon and cheese on a shoe and I’d eat it, put that on a popeyes chicken sandwich and that’s close to heaven on earth. This is the one I had a couple months ago. [chef's kiss]

popeyes bacon cheese.jpg

Don’t forget we have another london early morning game, this time bills vs jags, should be an entertaining game. Jags arent doing as good as most people expected this year, but they always seem to play the bills tough. Plus you get to watch josh allen try to sack josh allen.

mine was even bigger than that.it was huge, wish i warmed it up but i was hungry.is that a ketchup packet baba?did you put ketchup on that sandwich?they gave us some Louisiana hot sauce packets and cajun seasoning.the hot sauce is ok.i prefer Chrystal for Louisiana style sauce.gonna have to get some more.

rams vs eagles should be good.think eagles will win but what the fuck do i know.i just cant get right this season and with the bears winning my world is turned upside down

im with you hawk, this has been a crazy season
i was wondering the same thing? thats not the hot sauce they hand out at pop eyes? did you get fries with that chicken sandwich or do you put ketchup on everything like mahommie does?
i like good old fashioned tabasco sauce, straight up salty heat with a nice vinegar tang
but here in socal we eat more mexican style hot sauce
/cholula is good, i also like el pato but they are all usually pretty good

rams eagles will be fun
if $tafford can limit his turn overs and the defense come out to play the rams could make a good game of it, but i still feel like phi is one of the legit teams right now
whats the over/under? i could see this game going big
hahah kupp puka and tutu does sounds like a polynesian law firm
"...they will fight for you and get you every yard you deserve!"
/let hope they serve up some sweet hot justice this weekend
i could see two of the three hitting 100yds and i k.will can get rolling this weekend this could be a shoot out
phi has a how bd who can take on the #1, but if coop plays, that means puka and atwell should get favorable match ups
k.will might not have as good a game against the phi d but i would like to see him more catching swing passes and quick short routes to slow down the defense
MIA
/jumps out of water and does flip
dal v sf = playoff preview material
both teams can play and it could come down to a dak v purdey battle (i hope!)
but sf has the mojo just like last year, they are the one team you dont want to see on your schedule
jax and bills in the early game
i dont have the nfl network and am not going to click through the three ads to get a stream
/this cuts into sweet pregame time for...checks schedule (its b'more v pitt)
hahah f' analytics! i have a friend who is all into the maths and will tell me shit like that all the time
but this is football and you never know what can happen or when you will have your black swan
/chargers going for it on 4rth down with an injured qb who is not know for being a pile mover even when he healthy is just playing into the numbers and not your personnel

olive oil sounds good! it crisps up nicely and give that rich flavor and you are right that cheese looks cooked to perfection
/istn that the draw of a det style pizza, where the cheese gets all crispy in a pan?

man, its been hot these past few days during the day!
i think we only get this het dome for the next few days and then its back to seasonal temps here
my mom gave me a bag with some really nice buns in it from a local bakery and ive been slinging sandwiches lately
not wanting to cook in the afternoon i just make a huge sandiwch and cut it in half
bingo! two meals and when you add in some nice tots its grinding

Haha, like Pops said that was ketchup but that was for the fries, not the chicken sandwich, im not a monster, Hawk.
I forgot to get the extra cajun seasoning packets when I was there, I think Pops highly recommends those also.
To me, all louisiana hot sauce kind of tastes the same, crystal, franks, etc. That somewhat spicy, vinegary flavor, mix it with melted butter and that’s a good buffalo sauce for wings.
I love mexican food and the fresh green and red salsas they serve in restaurants, but for some reason the standard mexican hot sauce like cholula or el tapatio ive never really liked, it’s not bad but the taste isnt as good to me as most other sauces, it’s like more bland.

I put a little $ on Rams +4.5, Pops, if they don’t cover the spread u owe me.

The 49ers knocked the cowboys out of the playoffs the last 2 years so that’s an underlying storyline to SNF, Dak has been saying they’ve moved on past that but we’ll see what they say if they win. SF is favored by 3.5, u think they win or Dallas does?

Detroit style does use a lot of olive oil in their square pan pizza, and gets that burnt/caramelized cheese on the sides as well. I think Jet’s pizza, the biggest detroit style chain, has a style called 8 corner pizza cause the corners with the burnt cheese are the best part, it’s just 2 smaller square pizzas cooked separately and then boxed up in the same box.

See, that’s where the HC is supposed to step in and say we’re not going to use our injured QB on a tush push. I know KC doesn’t use mahomes on sneaks anymore after he dislocated his knee cap a few years ago on one. And more teams are using the ‘brotherly shove’, which is what philly calls the tush push, but usually arent nearly as successful at it. Bears actually used it a few times vs Washington and were successful, u need a strong QB who’s good at rushing in order to do it. Your avg pocket passer QB isnt gonna have that leg strength to drive forward like that.
