oh okay thanks el dub. i wasn't thinking in metric

in that case, i would probly stick 2 to 4 600's in there. that would be killer.

just keep the air cooled reflectors separate from the air in the tent. 1 400cfm fan should cool 2 600's with 6 inch ducting.

I'm not sure 2 600's will cover 64 sq ft adequately.

I use 2 600's for 16 sq ft.

Stoney ran two 600s on light movers over 32 sqft but 64 is a little much unless you are just vegging under them or just waiting for real flower production to start after the flip to add more.

Just thought i would add my two cents! Me and a buddy started growing our own medical stash a while ago... small rooms each using 1 400w CMH. For my set up I did four plants in 3 gallon buckets, my buddy decided to do a SOG using a DIY aeroponic thing... like an easy clone, but a bit bigger.

On our first run, it took him a week and a half longer to set up because he had to build all the shit and fix leaks etc. then he ended up killing the plants because he forgot to turn the pump back on one time. Then on the second crop, he actually got some buds, but they were pretty crappy, and airy, and tasted like shit... so bad he smoked all of it in blunts. Third time they were about halfway through flowering and the pump actually failed, and he didnt have a back up and every thing died.

All of this while I was pulling very good bud off of mine, and I only had to check on them every three days just to water, he was in there every day ph'in the water, adding water, adding nutes etc. Plus he spent way more than i did, all i had was a grow tent a 400w a rotating fan, and an exhaust fan w/filter, and a veg nute and flower nute. he had all that, plus more expensive nutes, a pump, all the tubes and fittings, all the extra cuttings. And i didnt have one problem. I got about 6-8 oz of buds every three months or so.

Hydro for first timers is not a good idea. I would give soil or coco a chance, and you will have much greater success. In hydro if you make a mistake in flowering chances are that you will end up with crappy buds. Soil and coco are much more forgiving and is not as messy as you think. Hydro can be just as messy, and can be way worse if somthing leaks or breaks etc.

I want you to succeed as i want to help mark emery overgrow the DEA, so what ever you choose to go with, I will try and help you on the way through... But I am not an expert in soil-less gardens, but i do have some knowledge.

If you go with hydro make sure you have a warning sheet that you see every time you leave the grow, prompting you on things like "is the light timer on the right schedual" "is the water pump on and working" "Dont forget to lock the door" etc. I always get poster board and do this for all of my grows.

My tips if your going to go ahead with your project as planned is

http://www.marijuanagirls.com/MarijuanaFree/MarijuanaGrowGuide.html

use this as a referance guide. It is a grow guide written by ed rosenthal. it has oodles of information. Make sure your environment is in check (humidity, temperature, air circulation). Keep your room CLEAN! and Read up about common nutrient deficiencies that way you can diognose the problem fast, and fix it before it damages your plants!

Hope all goes well, im subscribed!

If you feel you can handle the hydro then check these prebuilt systems out:

http://www.cch2o.com/

They are a bit pricey, but for me it would totally be worth it because I am not very good a building things, nor am i patient enough.

This system has much more DO (dissolved oxygen) than normal hydro systems, and i hear that high levels of DO and the less likelihood of root rot (which was my main concern). Pretty sure thats right! These systems make the plants grow VERY fast! whats nice about these systems is that you can grow the plants really big using vertical lighting and pull 2-3 elbows per plant, which mean you can have less plants which is better in the eyes of the law, or you could have your limit, but have all big trees haha. My friend told me though he wouldnt run one of those systems in an unsealed room. He also said he would keep it super clean, because in those hydro systems, things can go wrong fast.

Ok a update is needed here, i had to get out of my last place bit of an unforseen problem occourred, ,,
So i am now in new place and did not have the space for a large grow, so i decided to go for as much as possible in a small space, i got a grow tent 2 x 1.2metres and 8 18 litre bubbiling buckets going in there on hydro, large feed tank 100l and absolutely soil free!
Only 2x 600w lights but i have just finished setting up yesterday and the plants are very small in propagation still so there under a 200w plug an grow bulb,
i was impressed with my set up of the hydro as had only 2 small leaks rapidly fixed and my only prob now is awaiting for a cross threaded nut that goes on the feeder tank.
When that arrives its rock and roll,
I got dutchman super skunk and widower from gypsy nirvana seeds and they all cracked within 2 days, only thing now i gotta select 8 plants from the seedlings!

Ok the grow has begun, let s see how much bud this newb can get out of 8 plants and 1200watt of power in hydro grow tent!

i agree with VG that you are biting off a little too much for your first grow.... but if you do then I recommend you follow the advice above and keep your first grow in soil. It's not hard to make a good mix or expensive to buy one. I'm not saying either is easy but soil is more forgiving and can also generate the high yields you seek. Aiming high isn't a bad thing but be prepared to be disappointed. Good luck though whatever you choose.

I just read through your whole thread here. I could ask you a hundred questions but ill just stick with a couple. First remember to relax when your taking up this hobby, its not a sprint its a marathon. Take your time when doing your PH, mixing your nutes, taking cuts, etc... If you do a half ass job you will get half ass shit!!!
I see you decided on (DWC) the bubbling buckets as you called them. Did you get a chiller? If the water running through the system is to warm you will have more problems than you know what to do with.
What kind of nutrient line are you going to use?
Do you PH? if not better grab a meter now, you'll need it!!!!!
You sure go big or go home huh. Your first run with 2 600's and full hydro. Good thing for threads like this and people like you find on ic. Its alot of work good luck. Im very interested to see your results. I run 100% coco perpetual and yeild around 10 zips every 30 days in a 3x4 closet under a 1k hortilux. Good luck buddy def will be watchin!

Hi there all,
Yep I potted today into there new clay pebbles home,
i have the opposite problem of the water to cold here at the moment! its freezing so any heat comming out the tent is good for my house right now!
I have canna aqua nutrient along with rhizotonic, and also some rooting stuff to help them along, I will post some pictures along the way.
Complete set up cost me just over £1000 that includes the nutes so i hoping to make this cost effictive with the electric bill going to be quite high i guessing,

Hope that answers your questions nvboarder!

Only problem i am having right now is the air pump makes a vibrating noise that i need to sort out or my neighbours gonna think something is up somewhere, i have tried bricks cushon etc and finding it very difficult to fix this problem.
ok till next instalment
cheers all

Run the system for a week before you put any plants into it!!!! Make sure you can keep a steady ph/ppm/temp. Its important to have your plants a consistant medium for any kind of good growth. GET YOURSELF SOME DRIP CLEAN!!!!!!! This is a product from the house and gardens line and it will make your life 100 times easier. Its cheap and works amazing to keep your system clean of dirt and salt buildups. Buy this product or you will regret it!!!
Ive run Canna it work well, remember all things in moderation. your plants will tell you what they want. Dont over feed, with chemical nutes its easy to burn.

Alfie, I recently worked out the leccy bill for a similar set-up. In the UK, assuming 12p per kWhr, it comes out at about £100 for an eight week flowering run for the lights only. Factor in another £20 for your fans and water pumps and you'll be near enough the mark. Unless you need to use a radiator too, which I suspect you might, given your comment on temps!

Is the pump separate from the tank? If so, bungee cords from the rafters might work for you. If not, try moving the pump/res so that it sits on the joists a bit differently - it's amazing how noises from upstairs get transferred to different areas downstairs. I can hear virtually nothing directly below my cabinet, but in the room diagonally opposite downstairs, there's a definite hum...

Cheers for your comments,
to iNnvboarder i already run the system for around 4 days, it was spot on when i potted the plants, except for the bloody airpump!

I am room below the attic son of batch!

And pompey, ( i used to work down there) i have tried bungy off the tent frame, still a hum, have moved the pump all over the place but still got a hummmmmm,,,, i wrapped it in a pillow and hung from bungies, i dont think there is anymore i can do, i just gotta hope neighbour dont hear it to much but i sure they will hear somthing,i can hear it downstairs when i listen, Its a separate thing yep, i brought extra 5 metres of air pipe so i could move it around, in the end it was just the same really , so now its sitting on 2 bricks with a duvet cover thrown over the top so to quiten it down sucking the air.
Bit of a bind but i guessing its about as good as i can get it.
