New extraction technique? Rosin tech?

I would say lower temp would tast better except if the temp and pressure wasn't enough to get the oil out fast and u are pressing(cooking) your stuff for a long time to get it to run. I would say there is a sweet spot where your not too hot but hot enough to get the oil to run off the heat and onto somthing cold quickly.

Was 10 seconds presses. I’ll give it a taste on Friday see what one taste better to me. I’m leaning towards the temp on the oil rig could have been the factor.

I go at much lower temps and much longer press. I do not ever look at the time I go by feel, but 10 sec would be the absolute quickest for me. Generally around 30-40 sec. 80-85 Celcius.

I dont think i've ever gone above 200f on my plates. 75-85C on my plates seems to be my sweet spot for best flavor and color. I've never actually double checked the temps on my plates with anything so theres a good chance my temps could be off.

Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask--but how do you all efficiently divvy out grams/8ths/etc for rosin?

Roll it into a ball after weighing. Then get a hot plate an put it on warm or a pan heated for a minute for a warm flat surface ( I use a electric griddle). Take the ball an place it between parchment an slightly pre press it a lil flat. Then place on warm element an use a grinder or bigger flat surface to further flatten. Remove an cool.

Hey gang, I was pressing some Cinderella99 last night and I got these really dark purple spots.

I know it's remains from the pot but does anyone know exactly what this would be?

The pot was not especially purple. Most Sativa is a little purp so it's all a little like this but these were big stains. And pretty dark.

I was running some experiments and the plates were a little hot. Maybe 230 -240F. I don't get this on the same strain at my normal temps (210F)

Just wondering what it was that was brought out by the higher temps and left behind.

Did you spray any pesticides while flowering? or anything at all?

Also to weigh the rosin in small amounts I like to use parchment large baking cups from the same brand of parchment paper i buy (paperChef) They all weigh .4.

I never spray my plants with anything.

I'll go with Mikell.

At least I know my pH is good. LMAO

Anthocyanins may be used as pH indicators because their color changes with pH; they are red or pink in acidic solutions (pH < 7), purple in neutral solutions (pH ~ 7), greenish-yellow in alkaline solutions (pH > 7), and colorless in very alkaline solutions, where the pigment is completely reduced.

you typically only get this pressing fresher material, before its dried out much. I've gotten it many times, it often can stain the paper well too.

Believe they were using a method to increase transfer. One mention of "dialing in plant sap pH", whatever the fuck that means. Only once did I have a bit bleed into the rosin and it was unnoticeable.

Then there was the one guy allegedly caught adding dye.

Never had this problem with coffee filters. Even under magnifying glass I don't think I can see anything.

what do you use to press your rosin?

what do you use to press your rosin?

which route did most of you guys go in pressing your rosin, as in did you get a plate kit and modify a jack, or are any of you running any of the newer machines-like presses that are manual or pneumatic? TIA :tiphat:

I think Low Temp Plates plus a harbor freight press is the best bang for your buck unless you got homies at a machine shop or do metal work yourself.

My only complaint is how large and heavy a shop press is. Debating selling mine and upgrading to their small tabletop units that can be used both vertically and horizontally.

Yes they are a pain in the ass. Had to dismantle everything for an inspection.

Those muffin presses look nice but cost an arm and leg.
