Don't take that in the literal sense.

I saw this on reddit, and had to try it, so I made a pre-press today. It cost me $15 in materials. The center is a 3" piece of 1.75" x 1.75" x 0.125" 6061 aluminum square tube. The two ends are 2" pieces of 1.50" x 1.50" 6061 aluminum square bar. I picked them up locally for $15 cut, they have a $15 minimum. They get squished with a 600lb quick clamp. It makes perfect 1.5" x 1.5" pucks for my 2.5" x 2.5" plates. I have been able to use 2.0-2.5 grams per press. It's way better than my round twist style hash press.

What should I look for in a rosin press? Someone said to not by manual one. Someone mentioned not getting very large plates. Was looking at some that were 3" X 5". Have seen pre press blocks. What micron bag for bud, like 95?

Hydraulic, or pneumatic is the way to go manual is not feasible for production. If you are pre pressing weed bags are not necessary. Bags are good for pressing hash, or if you don't prepress. 95 would probably work good for bud . I only press bubble hash using 25 micron bags. As far as plate size bigger requires more pressure. Mine are 3x5 I do pretty well but I wouldn't go any bigger.

I'm making bubble hash specifically for pressing. What microns are you guys pressing and what are you omitting? I would like the best yield without sacrificing too much of my quality. I was thinking 160 to 45u and then pressing the 25u for my "friends over" stash.

What's the quickest way to dry bubble that is only destined for rosin? I've been drying it by chopping up after wash and then waiting for it to dry for a few days on cardboard/parchment. I read somewhere that you should dry with 25u press, wait 12hrs, freeze then microplane.

maybe for making rosin it doesn't matter, but to make the best bubble you can, you never press it till it's totally dry, you put it on a 25 screen with paper towels under the screen to suck down the moisture. then make as small as pos and let drya few days some where dust and hair free.

I'm pressing at a pretty low temp so I don't think water will evaporate too much.

anyone have any issues using single controlled plates vs dual controlled?
i wanted to get the powers plates but they are only single controlled.
both powers and low temp plates state they do not believe dual controlled is worth the extra and have no noticed a difference in quality.

I am using low temp plates with a single controller and I really like them! I appreciate their honesty and great customer service, save your money!

Does nobody use a roller pin and Cellophane ?

My best mate/mentor learned about that on overgrow when it first came out, bought a big roll of cellophane and always rolled his hash out to dry, the cellophane acting strangely absorbent.

I recently saw the Pollinator were selling it, but little discussion on here about it.

I heard that Microplanes cut through the trichomes and are not good to use for this reason, same as leaves are best torn not cut

Here's some pics of the presses I did today. I used 5.56 grams of 160gu bubble hash at 190 degrees for about 45 seconds. Used 25 micron bags.

What should I look for in a press, to do a good amount of pressing?

I found one that is pneumatic, with 3.5" X 3.5" plates, and 13000 pounds of pressure. Biggest problem is that it weighs 135 pounds, I have a bad back, and will be moving within 2 years.

I have a hydraulic, hand pump press capable of 13000# of pressure. Doing the directional flow, I use maybe 1000# of pressure otherwise you can blow out your screen or pouch. Blow outs are a mess. I do 50gm presses until the rosin quits running, doing the Drip Tech method. once you get good at folding the pre-pressed kief packets you can produce a lot of rosin quickly. Any good press is going to be heavy, but I see no need for a noisy pneumatic set up...
